Great hostel. Amazing atmosphere. Hot breakfast. Pool. Plenty of activities. Bike and scooter rentals safe. Comfortable. My only complaint is about the racist chick (Probably from Argentina) that gave me attitude my entire stay. She doesn't understand Spanish or English when everyone else in Latin America understands me just fine. The manager and I had an agreement. I would repair things and train his maintenance man in exchange for basic needs. Food... beer...cigarettes. 😉 trade and barter because nobody can afford my services. This morning she was a typical racist Latina once again. I do tolerate such behavior from anyone. Latiand tend to be pretentious and rude. Especially when you are not paying them or having sex with them. She is why I am disgusted by women today. They think they are special and that the entire world 🌎 owes them everything just because they have a nasty, worn out vagina. Not impressed. It's all exactly the same. Nothing special. Yes, this is personal now. No, I don't care about your feelings. You owe me $300 USD for my services. She can pay. Good luck 👍

A quiet and green oasis inside the city, close to the bus station. Clean, respectful hosts and delicious breakfast. Rocío at the reception gave me great recommendations about what to do and where to go in Tulum.

This hostel is a hidden gem! It truly felt like home, nestled within a beautiful tropical garden. It offers the perfect balance of socializing and relaxation—I love meeting wonderful people, and the quiet time after 11 PM is both respected and appreciated. The shared kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, making it easy to prepare healthy meals. It's one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in! The location is also ideal—right in the center of Tulum, just a five-minute walk from the ADO station. The staff and owner are absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate an important meeting I had, and I’m so grateful for their kindness. Highly recommend!

The hostel is beautiful, really near the ado station and the center of tulum. There is a pool and a chiringuito open in the evening. The girl at the reception at my arrival was so precious, she offered me a bed in a better room for the same price I had in my reservation. The breakfast is really good, the best I had in any hostel, and the common area in so nice with a lot of hammocks and tables with mega-jengas.

This place was so nice, it's like a mini retreat not too far from the city center. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and pancakes were really nice as well... The hammocs in the common areas are a nice addition. The dormitories were nice and the bed comfy.

These aren’t major downsides, but worth mentioning. The breakfast portions are small, so we bought extra food (like fruit, veggies, and yogurt), which was much cheaper than eating out. Coffee lovers might prefer getting coffee from a nearby café. Also, the shower temperature takes a bit of adjusting—it can go from cool to very hot if you turn the hot water tap too much.

We really enjoyed our stay at Oryx Hostel! The hostel is very green and gives you a jungle vibes. The staff was very friendly, always helpful, and spoke English. They organized daily bike tours to the beach or cenotes and shared evening event recommendations in town. The location is great—close to shops, cafés, and colectivos. You can also rent a bike or scooter directly from the hostel, making it a perfect budget-friendly option. We booked a private room, which was quite spacious with plenty of storage, a huge bed, and air conditioning. The Wi-Fi worked well, and we had no issues leaving valuables in the room. Breakfast was included, and while we didn’t use the pool, we did enjoy drinks at the bar—the cocktails were delicious and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this hostel!

Hostel Oryx is a hidden gem, right on the main road. It has a pure jungle vibe, very green. There were always organized activities on any given day. The people working there were all amazing and very helpful. We definitely recommend this place and will be back.

Checked in and out by Jorgelian, who was very helpful. Ioved the jungle vibe, but yet the hostel is located on the main street. Eateries and bars were all within easy walking distance. Beach strip isn't far by bike, but make sure you ask staff where the free public beaches are located. If you go to the beaches inside the park boundary there is an expensive admission fee.

It's like 15 min. walk from downtown; you need pay for water refill; a bit loud as people play music from early morning.

Considering high prices for any accommodation in Tulum in January this was reasonably priced. You feel like in the jungle once you are inside. You can rent bikes there. Staff was helpful. In general good value for money (but considering Tulum and January)

The warm water knob of the shower in our bedroom was broken, also i had a feeling the dorm was not cleaned very well whilst i was there.

The location right next to the main road & close to the ADO station is perfect, and the patio is very green and quiet. Staff is very nice.

Super chill place, beautiful inbetween the trees. People are warm and friendly. Very clean. Best showers in Mexico! The policies make sure people take the party outside after 10, so you get a good nights sleep. Taco the dog is adorable!
