How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing. We love that place
The hotel have a good location ,the staff is super friendly and helpfull, great view on the terrasse on the top with the pool, the breakfast was the best we had included with the rent of all our trip. The bed was Sooo confy, everything was clean. Honnestly the best price vs quality hotel we had in a month of travel.

The bathrooms need some signage to remind newcomers to MX not to throw tissue paper in the toilet. Similarly, signage about “dorm rules,” like no loud conversations in the dorm, would be helpful. Tissue paper and waste baskets need to be refreshed more regularly throughout the day.
The staff and amenities were terrific! They kindly allowed me to store my bags and use the facilities until well after checkout since my transfer was later in the day. This is a very relaxed hotel / hostel, with only one dorm room. Some of the staff are dive masters and will take you on dives. All the staff have info about local attractions if you ask, but did not plan any activities or host a social environment within the property. The rooftop breakfast was delightful as were the people serving it!

Our favourite accomodation during our trip of the peninsula! Everything is new and very clean, bed very comfortable.. Location is great. You can walk to the beach and beach clubs, or you can take one of the many taxis/tuk-tuks. Breakfast on the rooftop was nice. They even organised a vegan breakfast for us. Best value for money we've booked on our trip. We had a great time (:

The staff were really helpful and understanding even when I could not make my first night! Super clean, safe and a lovely hostel. One of the best places I have stayed in Mexico!

equipment a bit old, rather noisy area overall
nice staff, kitchen space for everyone, free drinking water and a fridge which could be used by everyone rooftop pool with a niew view and open breakfast terrace about 10 minutes to the beach crossing the street via overground passing good restaurants nearby

This hostel was really good and the people working there really nice ! The breakfast on the rooftop was simple but delicious. The dorm for 10 was more than okay even if the beds are really closed. It’s a quiet and good located hostel that I highly recommend ! Akumal is one of the best place for snorkeling. We saw turtles and stingray.

outside noise from dogs etc made it a little noisy in the night, but I’m splitting hairs

Amazing hostal in the pueblo of Akumal. The best thing is the pool on the rooftop and the delicious breakfast. Rooms have big lockers, enough space and comfortable beds. Bathrooms are always clean. About 15min walk to the beach make it a great place to stay. Some small restaurants and cafes are close by. Friendly staff and they have a diving school included which makes it easy to organize dives.

It would be better if the breakfast was a buffet with a bit more of choices (e.g. eggs).
The pool on the roof, the cleanliness, but above everything the personal was great especially the young french lady working at the reception who was extremely welcoming and helpful during the entire duration of our stay.

Clean, new facility. Great location, walking distance from the sea and the natural park where you can swim with sea turtles. Most amazing staff. Small local restaurants and shops all around. Full marks!!

There was no room service in 3 days. This could be better. But we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
The room was clean and air conditioning as well as wifi worked well. Really nice roof top terrace. Breakfast is small but it was ok to start the day with fresh fruits and toast. The staff was very nice. The beach can be reached within a 10 min walk. It is not that near but it was absolutely fine for us as the price-performance ratio is very good compared to the other hotels that have direct access to the beach. We extended our stay for 1 night and this was no problem. But we have been there during off season. The hotel owns a diving school that is really good. The dive masters are well experienced and provide good consultancy and service. The equipment is very good and well maintained.

As for Akumal this is the best spot in my opinion
The rooftop breakfast is very wel proportioned, Also the hotel has many different type of roomoptions for different style guests and the combination makes a very frendly vibe during the meals

Pff maybe the nightshift-person could have been more friendly asking to go down from the roof? I had no idea, or forgot, there was a curfew for being there and she wasn't to friendly about it. I was alone and superquiet so a bit lame.
The staff is super-friendly! Clean, fully equiped, nice everything.

Brand new hostel/hotel in Akumal. Staff were lovely, beds were very comfy, kitchen facilities were great. There is a dive shop within the hotel as well. Only a 5 minute TukTuk drive from the beach !
