Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt’s not their fault by any means, but while we were there the town generator was out of action and the solar batteries did not work properly meaning we had no electricity, air conditioning, hot water or ceiling fan for most or our stay. Given the challenges in Punta Allen regarding electricity supply you should be prepared for some things to be very basic, but it would have been good to at least have access to a fridge.
The bed was comfortable and the room large. There was a nice patio area overlooking the property’s garden where we could birdwatch. We decided to use the boat transfer to reach Punta Allen, which was an adventure in itself. If you don’t have a vehicle to drive yourself there Marta can give you the contact details and information on how to book the transfer. When we were there she also arranged for us to go on a boat trip along with some of her other guests.

Switzerlandthe place has a bit of garbage lying around, but may just be because it is a house where a couple lives. the other thing that i disliked was the open windows to the street, people could technically look inside and at night there is a lot of light coming in.
the people were nice, the bed clean, one feels like a part of the family. they helped me get around, find good food and told me secret tips to find hidden spaces in the lagoon etc. they really did a good job to make me feel comfortable

BelgiumKeep in mind that there isn’t always electricity on the island. They do have solar panels, but the airco is not always on. Overall i think Punta Allen is really expensive to find a hotel, so for us it was a bit overpriced but we loved our stay
Juan and martha are such lovely people! They gave us a lot of information about the island and were very kind. Room was very big with the best comfy bed we’ve slept in.

United StatesHot, noisy, and Smoky. The hotel borders one of the main roads in Punta Allen. ATVs and motorcycles race down the road from morning til night. Dogs bark a LOT, day and night. Since there is NO air conditioning, the room is noisy and very HOT.... And there is a LOT of burning going on, so smoke is frequently a problem. Also, be aware that food is more expensive here than in other small Mexican towns...and it's not as good. Also, be aware that the electricity is off for much of the day, so there are NO FANS during these outages.
Staff was helpful. Fishing was good.

CanadaOnly boat transportation leaves this area is 7am or so they said. We tried to get ready in the pitch dark ( no electricity at this time in the morning,, until 10am. ) no flashlight or anything given. Key didn't work going out the locked door of the property outside. No other way out so had to wake up owner to let us put. Almost late for boat leaving. Owner was nice, beds comfortable, limited a/c as was expected. Bring credit /debit cards to this area! ATM at Super convenience.

MexicoThe room cleaning per day never happened. The drainage in the bathroom was soaked, so the water level increase while you are using it. The toilet system had a little issue to work properly.
I like the welcome staff. They are kind, respectful and make yourself conscious about the place.

PolandThe downstairs room that we've got was bit damp and dark with no sitting area outside and privacy. So I strongly recommend to take the upstairs one. There is no control over air conditioning, so it being turned off and on by the hosts. It was turned off at midnight, although we've asked to keep it on so it made it difficult to sleep.
Boat trip organized by the hosts was very nice and I strongly recommend to take one, if you have a chance. Snorkeling at the reef was worth it and seeing the nature of the Sian Khan reserve from the boat was great. The room was clean and beds were comfortable.

NetherlandsThere was hair in the shower. Not clean. And we missed an airco. For us an absolute must in this climate. The host gave us an extra fan. It helped a little bit.
The host and location was perfect. Quiet and a great experience. But you need to know to what kind of location you are going to. Be prepared! And the road is 3,5 hours (43 KM) by car of bumping road an unforgettable experience. The host helped us also with booking a boat trip. A must do if you are at Punta Allen.

NetherlandsWe feel bad for leaving a negative review because we are sure that the owners are doing there best. However, we do feel like the following correctly reflects our genuine experience in Punta Allen. The windows in the room couldn’t be secured. An intruder could easily get in using a screwdriver to remove the mosquito net. Other than that we think that considering the price we paid and the road we had to drive to get there, we did not get the value we expected. There was no fridge in the room and for water, a basic coffee or anything else we were referred to restaurants or expensive convenience stores with limited options. I get that the owners want to support local businesses, but we expected these basic necessities. Also because the booking description said that breakfast was available at the property. Apart from that, the stay was fine, just not exceptional. A big contributor to why we left earlier (we stayed 2 nights instead of 4), is not the property, but Punta Allen itself. The area is beautiful, however, greatly spoiled with human trash which may or may not have been washed ashore. There was a lot of trash around the ‘virgin’ beaches, as well as the the forest roads. The ocean is eating away big parts of the beach and the road to get there is absolutely abysmal. We talked to locals and 5 years ago apparently the condition of the beach and nature was different and we felt like we just came too late. Again, the trash issue is not the fault of the property. Yet we do think that we cannot separate our evaluation of our stay from the area.
The room had a nice bed and shower. We also liked relaxing at the patio next to the room. The owners were friendly.
