The beach is not a blue water and there is a alegator around.

Nice place to relax away from the noise . It's hot in the room but we could sleep well at night.

We had quite a bit of sargassum on the beach but that is the case for all of the Costa Maya in certain months. Plan your trip if you want pristine beaches!

It’s a very relaxing and quiet place with 4 bungalows facing the sea. The only thing you will hear while being there is the waves and the wind.

We knew it didn’t have AC, but it was still pretty sticky (we were in the upstairs room). The shore is pretty and calm, although seaweed was a problem.

Nice location, secluded and quiet. Wonderful staff work very hard to make the visit nice. Nice morning breakfast and a good menu.

The room could have been cleaner. It was quite dusty. We do understand that it's hard to control dust on the beach though. It was also quite a distance from town and definitely not walkable. No air conditioner available, but there was always a breeze.

The hotel and the area were beachfront, quiet, and very lovely. They gave a continental breakfast in the morning. The host was very friendly and available at all times for questions

    100% relaxation and very welcoming

    • Quadruple Room with Sea View
    • Stayed 3 nights

During our three night stay, the sea water was red/brownish due to the wind direction and we were told it had to do with the mangroves nutrition, so it was not sea weed. A small walk away, a few hundred meters, there was a blue beach, but we never swam there. You should be aware of that outside of Maya Luna there is a lot of trash on the beach. There are a few other places/houses along the beach and the road, and sometimes they look super exclusive and tidy and sometimes more like a shed with a yunk yard. The last day of our stay, the water was clear and the wind was gone. However, I would not come to this place for a beautiful white sandy beach with turquoise waters, since this is not the case based on our experience.

This is a very peaceful place to stay, far away from the touristy crowds. We had the room on top of the main building for 4 persons, one double bed and two single beds for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The terrace was huge and was like an extra large living room only for us with hammocks, table and chairs. No other guest room was on that floor. We did have breakfast and dinner here every day and the food was very good and the price was very reasonable for drinks and meals, much cheaper than in town! The room is basic but large, the bathroom was super small and very basic but hot water in the shower, so all good. The room was equipped with TV and AC - which we never used. During the evening/night you should only watch the stars and listen to the sea and sound of the nature, and sleep hearing the waves and jungle sounds! Very nice garden/beach area to hang out, read books and just relax. This place will offer 100% relaxation! The man who hosted the place was super friendly, informative, helpful, supportive, service minded and pragmatic. The lady who cooked and cleaned was also very friendly and service minded and the food was very good and freshly cooked for every meal you order from a decent menu of choices. You can walk along the beach and/or the road to have a look around and it felt safe, only a few dogs came barking at you. The last day of our stay the wind was zero so we did use the kayaks and went out to the reef - the water out there was crystal clear and good for snorkeling. FYI - there is 3 km to the asphalt road in Mahahual, and it is an adventurous very slow drive for 15+ minutes with a normal car, due to the bad condition of the road.

There are mosquitoes so you have to be diligent to not leave the door open. The cabana is quite dark inside because the windows have shutters. Hot water was minimal and not consistent. Recommend a car or a scooter as it is too far to walk into town for supplies.

Private beachfront cabana with hammocks, lounge chairs, palapas and free kayaks for guest use. Very quiet and removed from the cruise ship crowds in town. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Handy to have a restaurant on site since the resort is outside of the town area.

The beach was lovely to look at but due to rocks & large waves while we were there, we only went for 1 swim. It was also too rough to use the free kayaks while we were there.

Lovely well equipped cabanas very near to the water's edge. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves every night. Friendly staff, especially Jair the manager who goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you might want or need. He even will give you a lift into town when he has to go in for supplies.

The smell of the seewead but that's beyond the staff because the last years that seems to be the case on the entire eastcoast from Florida to the Carribean. However the staff is doing their best to clean the beach, it is good to know that you are prepared for this when you're planning to come this way. Maybe a little bit more attention for clean sheets, we didn't complain for this because it was acceptable but we had a few stains on the sheets in the bed and also there was still a little bit of dirt in the trash bin in the bathroom. Maybe a little renewal from the inside of the room is advisable

The staff was very friendly and kind and helpful. The setting and location from the place is wonderful, we had a quiet house right on the beach in a few meters from the sea. Very close to beautiful seagrass and reef for snorkeling and you can use freely the kayaks from the hotel to go into the water. Unfortunately the sea was a little bit too rough during our stay for good snorkeling. In the restaurant we tried the Maya Luna Pineapple, the speciality dish from the house, wich was very tastfull. The dog of the house is very sweet and follows you anywhere without bothering you. The place is a few km's from the center of Mahahual what was fine by us.

Global warming means the sea grass comes earlier and is more profuse, it ruins the water and beach :-( nothing the hotel can do about it.

The location is a bit far out if you don’t have a car - but that said, we didn’t, and we were so glad we stayed here over staying in town. We just ate at the (very good) on-site restaurant and ventured into town when we could catch a lift with the host.

The place hugely exceeded our expectations, particularly given some of the other reviews on here. The bungalow was right on the beach. It has a decent size balcony, which provided a nice place to chill in the hammocks and gave you a place to clean your feet so you could avoid traipsing sand in. Inside the room was cool and breezy, with windows with insect screens on multiple walls, including directly by the bed, and a ceiling fan. The decor is a bit dated and could do with a cosmetic update, but it was super clean and the bed was comfortable. We slept well to the sound of the waves gently breaking each night. By far and away the best part about staying here was the host, Mr Yahir. We have never had such good service, not even at 5 star hotels. He made himself available to check us in after 8pm on the first night, repeatedly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, sourced and arranged special meal items for us, regularly offered us a ride into town, went with us to arrange a colectivo (even speaking with the vendor for us, as our Spanish is limited), and then dropped us off in the morning of our departure to ensure we got to the depot on time. All in all a top bloke with a clear pride and passion for his job.
