Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe only thing to note is that there were hostel partys on two days of our stay and even though our room was pretty far away, the music was ridiculously loud with a very heavy bassline, which made it nearly impossible to sleep. Obviously, you can just join the party and it won't bother you, but keep this in mind if you're not a fan of partying and/or want to travel with children.
The location is great, you're right in the center of downtown Isla Mujeres, close to Playa Norte and just in front of a beautiful (!!!!) small beach that is not packed with people. The hostel offers many activities, the outside area is STUNNING, and the private room with bathroom was also nice. Last but not least, the staff is INCREDIBLE!

United StatesIt was expensive for what was given, AC shut off early so my room was hot and the shower didn't have hot water. Music blasted until about 3am

CanadaThe scheduled night music events could have concluded earlier at midnight rather than 3am.
The location and onsite facilities ( pool and restaurant). I like the concept of the upscale hostel vibe.

United KingdomLike most places on the island, it's a money grab. Certain things just seem ridiculous, like trying charge for the very uncomfortable sun loungers. There are a lot of rules which you are often reminded of. It's mostly really clean but my dorm bathroom was not. The wifi was really unreliable, which isn't great 😬 Despite all this I was still v happy with my choice.
Perfectly located, big, beautiful hostel with loads of space to socialise and chill. There is a small army of staff keeping everything ticking over and they have a nice vibe. I did free yoga most mornings, and went on a snorkeling tour with Pocna Dive Centre which is adjacent, lovely guys. There was some good live music in the bar and some party nights, typical club music, I couldn't hear anything at all from my room. I definitely wouldn't choose the tipis if loud music bothers you. My dorm room was pretty crowded, but very comfortable, quiet and cool. The little coffee shop and bakery was amazing and reasonably priced. As a solo female I felt super safe in the hostel and in the area, at any hour.

GermanyIt was loud late at the evenings, bathroom was under construction works until 10pm and as a smoker I did not like the fact that smoking was prohibited everywhere in the hotel’s premises.
Location was super. Tempe was comfortable. Also the breakfast was very tasty.

GermanyThe shared dorms are quite small and not really well designed as there isn’t much room to keep your stuff. Also depending on where you’re staying the toilets / showers might be a bit farther than expected.
Great outdoor space and location!

SloveniaI never give bad rating but here I have to due to the price I paid and it was not worth it. There are much better accomodation on the island for way less money. I do not think I got the room I saw on the picture while booking. The room was smelly and extreeeemly humid - couldn't do anything to make some air enter and dry it. It was hard to sleep on the humid sheets. So avoid the stone wall downstairs rooms - they are unlivable. Also Selina has to decide weather it is a party hostel or coworking orientated space. There was no internet in the room as well. Also you could hear everything what neighours did in the rooms next by. It is just not nice to listen to somebody having sex extremly loud all night.
Location is great, design of the hostel as well, just not worth the price. If it was 30 bucks a night id give it a 10 stars.

SwedenIt was very warm in the room, and I had to sleep with the curtains open at night. Staff in the reception in the evening was not helping much...
I stayed in an 8 bed dorm and appreciated that it was divided into 2 rooms, which made it feel more privately. Also, it was not that much noise in the dorm on party nights, which is rare on hostels!

MexicoBreakfast was totally overpriced (only a small meal, one cup of coffee and juice given); rooms were not cleaned properly (the floor was only swept once a day); there was a leak in my bathroom that staff never resolved; staff also made it very clear that they did not care about guests' welfare.
The location was excellent, as well as the way the hostel looked. The hammocks on the sand were super comfortable.

United KingdomThe room felt very dark with all the wood, and the lights didn't properly light up the room. Also there is no direct beach access. I always thought Selina's were supposed to have an edge of coolness, it didn't really feel that. Quite a higher hostel price considering.
Close to Playa Norte. I had a private room for two nights. It was alright. The room was a lot bigger than I was expecting. Liked the free cocktail and the hammocks. Lots of events every day, if you're into that.

IrelandWhile we were given fresh towels, Our room wasn’t cleaned in the 4 days we stayed. The walls are paper thin, you’ll hear EVERYTHING your neighbours do. The big party/loud music every second night (and if we were coworking there, I think the parties would be even more frustrating) Our room only had a window facing a corridor, the lack of light/a view got to me a few days in. If you visit, try book a room with an external view.
Loved the daily program available including free yoga or meditation every morning. And the optional salsa classes, or skill painting. Great location, close to everything. Gorgeous setting, views and place overall. Filtered water on tap.

SwitzerlandThe staff was not very friendly, not very helpful when I had questions. Only one of the girls at my check in was nice and let me get changed in the back of the reception as my room was not ready yet. Towards the end of my stay, it started to be very smelly in my room because of humidity and although I tried to let the door open as long as I could to let the wet air go out it wouldn't help.
nice room with good air con, close to Playa Norte and the town center. Great restaurants close by called Mahaché and Xantolo. Good wifi and nice decoration of the place. Good for "homeoffice working nomads" as there is a quiet and well equipped working area.

PortugalWe were lucky to be offered an upgrade and we appreciated the welcome drink, as well as the sweets and the water bottles left in the room. The room however was pretty small and the bathroom a bit old. It was really humid and the air puryfier really helped, however you can not sleep at night if it is on. The shared bathrooms are really small and not very convenient. The staff and the location were perfect.

GermanyUnfortunately one of my towels was rather old (lightly ripped) and it had a stain on it. Since there were two and I was alone it didn't bother me too much. On my checkout morning I also noticed a stain on the sheets that wasn't from me since I didn't sit or lay on that side of the bed.

United StatesThere was mold along the lower part of the walls in the entire room. I asked them to clean it. They only cleaned it very briefly and partially. Understandably, this is a hot and humid Island. For that matter, they should really be on top of mold and mildew. A little bit of cleaning weekly goes a long way. Great property and vibes otherwise! Oh, and mosquitos. They camped out in my bathroom. :( Oh and loud music until late at night, BUT that was expected and they had earplugs in the room. Those were clutch and worked really well!
Great location, great breakfast, nice vibes all around!
