Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesStaff was extremely rude and unhelpful. They try to force you to wear some stupid bracelet the entirety of your stay, which locks once closed. Normal hotels do not do this, it's unsanitary & unnecessary. The nasty girls at check-in forced putting it on me themselves, despite me saying I don't want them to touch me. Extremely weird, incensitive & stupid behavior. The grounds do not have access to the beach, despite being on the sand, because they have a fence around the property. The rooms are OK but very basic, and the walls are super thin. All night you hear parties & drunk people yelling. The "welcome drink" is just barrel liquor with tons of sugar, not even drinkable.
Facilities were clean. Location is easy to find

United StatesI don't have a thing to say about this.
The staff stands out. So kind and helpful. Valeria with Dora, Valeria, Pedro, Pamela, Mayra, and all of the housekeeping staff. Everything was always clean. Loved the coffee shop attached too. The pool, the activities. I loved our stay there. The new kitchen, drinking water. I could go on and on.

FranceI booked a bunk bed in the dormitory but I could get a free upgrade and I stayed in Teppe , which was pretty and comfortable. Close to the beach, restaurant and bars. There were Yoga classes and some other activities at the hostel, which were really nice too. Highly recommend!

NetherlandsYou need to pay at this selina for towel, using the remote working office is paid…. It’s simple a way to get people cheap into a hostel, and then upsell them with crazy prices… my recommendation is not to stay at all in Isla mujeres!
Location was OK but nothing special.

CanadaThere was a party on the Friday evening, it was loud but they provided us with ear plugs which helped. Sounded like great fun, I was just too tired to enjoy.
The property was beautiful. Upon arrival, we got upgraded to a higher end room with a kitchen and private bathroom. The king bed was very comfortable and the room had fantastic air conditioning. The hostel is in an excellent location, around a 10 minute walk from the ferry and within 5 minutes of the beautiful North Beach. I loved the daily schedule of fitness classes and Spanish lessons. I felt very safe and the front desk staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

AustraliaWe stayed on Isla Mujeres only 1 night and it was our biggest regret!;)
We loved our stay at Selina! We arrived earlier and we’re lucky enough to be checked in straight away and got upgraded for a private room with a bathroom. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location of the hostel is incredible! Only few steps away from all the shops and restaurants. There’s no direct beach access, but it didn’t bother us, because Playa Norte was only 5min away and it’s an absolutely beautiful beach. The hostel also has a great pool with sun beds and hammocks all around. I would definitely recommend this place to solo travellers and youngish couples. It’s not luxurious, but it has a lovely vibe for sure!

United Statesstaff isn’t helpful both at front desk nor at the bar. we were asked for 100p deposit for towel and never received it back upon checkout. staff is completely “checked out”. Bar was supposed to be open til midnight but we couldn’t get a drink at 11:45pm. dirty facilities (stained bed cover and old towels) and room is very very basic. very narrow dangerous stair leading up to room. bathroom is one more flight up. no hot water and impossible to wash long hair. ps I’ve stayed at at least 20 Selina’s around the world and this one is by far the worst value for the money.

Czech RepublicEarlier check-in no chance. That means, they open check-in at 3 p.m. so you and 10-15 other newcomers form a queue and if you stand at the end you get your room 30-40 minutes later. So ingenious.. chaotic, loud, not nice welcome. Your “welcome drink” gets served between 6to7, 7:03 sorry mate, too late. Next, such a spacious room would welcome at least a little fridge. Only the people at the reception can speak English, bar restaurant staff.. nobody, weird especially on the island visited by Americans… You pay some “local” tax which is not mentioned anywhere. In one night 5$, more nights can get you to 20-30 bucks out of nothing. Little dirty loundry, mainly the towels with brown yellowish stains don’t appeal much.
Most of all, really great location. 400 metres to the beach. The double room is quite spacious.

GeorgiaCheck in took more than an hour and I arrived at 5pm I took a separate room and the smallest one I have ever seen (and it cost over 100$/night). It was noisy almost all the night there and smelly (because neighbours smoked weeds all the time))) There was no hot water in the shared bathroom. Quite bad value for money, better take a normal hotel instead

United StatesListen, it's an island so you cannot expect perfection. The room did spell mildewy and the shower was not the cleanest shower I've ever been in. But again, it's a hostel on an island! It was still an amazing stay.
Selina in Isla Mujeres was great! I stayed there during the week in late May and did not have any issues with loud partying. They provide a big down comforter and comfortable beds. Great kitchen area with awesome common space. I did the free yoga one morning and had a blast. Definitely skip the restaurant if you can. There is so much better food outside the hostel doors and for better prices too. The location is perfect. Very close to all the action but up on the end of a street by the beach.
