Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. United StatesThe food is not good. The specialty restaurants are a disaster. The entertainment team and bar staff are too short-handed. They do their best, but they need more personnel. Beaches are dirty as there is not enough staff to clean used glasses. We did not pay too little for this.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. The buffet food was very good and I hate resort buffets. Very good property for families traveling with kids. The water park was a lot of fun. The resort beach is literally the best beach I’ve been on in Cancun. There was no seaweed. A lot of entertainment for kids.

CanadaRestaurants were the same as a different Riu we went to last year. The buffet and restaurants that has some buffets often had empty trays and they stayed empty for a long time. They need more people filling the food and cleaning around the food areas. I wish you could reserve your restaurants when you arrive for the entire stay.

MalaysiaThe property overall was okay. Room was clean but colour scheme was a bit odd. It was spacious but there was no bath up. Only showers. The food choices was great but gotta be careful with some of the food as they’re not cooked well which lead me to a food poisoning on my second night in the hotel. The place is isolated and the last resort in the stretch. We did not plan to go anywhere so it was nice to just relax and have everything there. However if you’re looking to explore the town, then it’ll be a hassle to travel to the town and cost a lot.

United StatesIf I have to find one thing that was not so great, I have to say it is the food, especially at the asian restaurant. I mean, not bad food, but certainly not comparable to everything else at the property.
This property is beautiful and very well managed. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly, never pushy, and always concerned about our well being. We had to spend one extra night there because of an hurricane, and I am in awe at how well they managed to keep the property and all guests safe, minimising the disruptions of the services. Kudos to all the staff.
