Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaIt wasn’t that clean, something as simple as the small washroom garbage was rusty and ready to be thrown out, our window was broken so it wouldn’t lock- there was a crack between the wall the the patio door so bugs could crawl in
Location was great, private access to a cenote was fabulous. There’s an amazing taco restaurant and coffee shop 2 min walk away.

AustraliaThe maintainance could have started a few hours late, however the maintainance didnt start until the last day.
Loved the location, being nestled in the mangroves and staying by the cenote was very nice. The reception was easy to find and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We traveled for a festival, the location of the was extremely close to 2 of the venues and was the best priced hotel on the beach strip.

United StatesAldea Mangle is a hidden gem not yet discovered, in fact so recently launched that Google Maps (street view) won't show you the place. Heading South, they are located on your right hand side. Despite their sign, you are better off looking for their fashionable (Tiki vibes) "shopping plaza" right in front of the hotel. Such picturesque setting will likely make you stop for a picture anyway, so you won't miss it. For those driving, although it seems like a no-parking-area, you are good to stop there and get situated. To "check in" just walk about 50 steps into the plaza. There's a nice lounge area with rugs, pillows, etc. That's the "Happy Hippie", a small yet most renowned coffee place among vegans all abroad! PLEASE, step right in and let them know that you are a new hotel guest! They'll radio the team and will take care of you while someone from guest services comes to walk you to your room. Take advantage of those few minutes to try their "Eternal life juice" packed with pretty much every awesome raw ingredient you could empower yourself with! Rooms are located after a short walk through the mangrove's roots path. All very clean, well maintained, with string lights along the way and kept as intact as possible. Top floor rooms offer a nice overhead view, yet there's also a cool deck and terrace right by the water. The cenote is definitely the cherry on top! Water quality is excellent! Plenty of aquatic life! For those properly qualified, this is one of the VERY FEW PLACES where you could have friends lounging on the deck, go "cave diving" right below them, and later on head back to bed, all within 100 steps! If diving is your thing, let me know and I'll share more details. The PR team is absolutely great! Carla was very accommodating and offered A+ service. There's no parking on site, yet the team will try their best to help arrange a spot on your behalf if interested.

GermanyJust avoid Tulum Beach completely and better stay in Tulum City. Extremely noisy at night. Not very clean. To access/ leave the Hotel you always need to text the Host, so someone will come and open the locked gate.
Value for money is good for the Tulum Beach Area. Staff was friendly.

United KingdomFirstly the directions on booking.com were incorrect and we couldn’t find the hotel for over 30 minutes. When we arrived there wasn’t even a proper reception we were greeted by the end of a walk way and someone shouting at us trying to check in with someone who didn’t speak any English and then showing us a room that was full of dust and debris, after 5 minutes there we’re mosquitos and locus in our room. There were ants all over the floor including the shower the room just felt dirty and we didn’t have enough space in the room to make sure our stuff was not on the floor. We then went to see the cenote which was like a dirty lake the top deck had building materials all over it so we couldn’t use it to shelter from the sun. The roof was not connected properly which means sunlight, and bugs could get into our room thank god there was a mosquito net over the bed however this was also dirty and didn’t cover the bed well enough. The seal around the door also had gaps in it when we went to complain again the lady couldn’t understand us which wasn’t her fault but this should have been provided in the description. Breakfast was not in the main section as described in pictures and the continental breakfast had 4 limited options which meant we had to then go out and find breakfast both mornings. We get we were in tulum beach but where the shops were was a DJ at night and having no secure roof meant that the music felt like it was in the room with us and didn’t turn off until 2am. We also didn’t have internet in the room until late into our second day which meant we couldn’t book another room elsewhere as this was our final two days in tulum we left really disappointed and had to spend even more money so we weren’t in the room other than to sleep and shower. The curtains also didn’t close properly, the electrics had giant holes around them and the bathroom walls were splattered with dirt.
the only thing good about this hotel was the location

PortugalThis was without no doubt the worst room I have been in. It was dirty, not only the room/bathroom itself but also the towels and sheets. Both the door and the window did not close properly (and we had to came out with a solution ourselves) and there was a lot of noise during the night due to its proximity with clubs and in the morning because of works that were being done in the hotel. Besides all that, there were a lot of bugs that didn’t allow us to sleep properly and during one of the night it rained in our bedroom (there was no one we could talk to about all of these issues) Honestly, we were relived to leave this place after 3 nights (we tried to canceled our stay, but it was worthless).

Canadabed was comfy and has ac. however dirty bathroom, lots of bugs creeping in, the shampoo and body wash bottles were not filled before our stay and bathroom was bare bones and seemed mildly unsanitary. the host mentioned use of beach club facilities at bagatelle and when we got there we were still quoted $200 minimum spend regardless of the reservation the hotel manager made for us.

MexicoIt is located in another address, I was trying to called them but in Tulum there’s no good signal I looked for 2 hours to find the place and when I finally did at 9:00pm they didn’t have the room ready. Nevertheless, the receptionist was really nice!

United KingdomI unfortunately cannot recommend and we shortened our stay for a total of three nights. Our room did not look like on the images, especially the bathroom, there is no air-conditioning and the windows aren’t isolated so insects are coming through. Every morning at around 5am there was a really bad smell coming out of the bathroom/pipes filling up the bedroom as rooms aren’t separated. It was also loud as they are still building most of the rooms. On the last day they started to drill at 7am above our room so our night was ending very quickly. It would have been better to say for them that no breakfast is included as it simply isn’t enough. You can choose from 4 vegan options, my friend ordered bread with jam and had two small slices of bread and when asking for more they said no the first time around. So we went and got breakfast again somewhere else.
The area around the hotel is lovely with a lot of nature and the cenote. The room has a good size in general.

Netherlandsthe building going on next to the room. also the rooms did not have a airconditioning which made it very warm. The room was not closed so there were many openings for bugs and mosquitoes to go threw. No warm water!
