Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

CanadaThe location is a bit hidden. And the AC is only available from 7pm~7am.
The floating breakfast and dinner is really delicious. I highly recommend the grilled fish. They have a specific fishing man catch fish everyday. The concierge Arturo and Hugo are extremely thoughtful And helpful. 24h at our service. The hotel is definitely beautiful like the picture. Btw our villa is very cute.

This boutique hotel is exceptional in every way possible. The location, interior, staff, service, food and everything in between made our first time in Tulum an incredible experience. Staff are very attentive and caring. Our time at the hotel was tailored to our special occasion (honeymoon). Staff made lots of helpful recommendations on things to do outside the hotel too which we really appreciated. Very clean and chic whilst preserving the tranquility of staying in a safe jungle surrounded by beautiful cenotes. Many thanks to Annie and everyone else for all your efforts, hospitality and care. We look forward to coming back someday soon!

SwitzerlandAmazing Amazing experience. The Yellow Nest is located in the jungle close to wonderful cenotes that we have the opportunity to visit. It's the perfect place to reconnect yourself and enjoy the calm and the peaceful of the nature. The rooms are beautiful, good bedding and with climatisation. The swimming pool area is probably one of the most attractive paradise we have ever seen. All the dishes are delicious and the staff were readily available and helpful. The cherry on the cake was the breakfast floating and the possibility to rent bikes (free of charge) and visit the area. Please be aware that is located around 1h30 from the airport of cancun and in the middle of the jungle. That's why, we highly recommend you to contact the hotel to find a transportation or to rent a car. To sum up we highly recommend and a special thank you to Annie as well as the staff that were very kindness and helpfulness.

NetherlandsOk, I would like to be as objective as possible. Some (or maybe must of it) is my fault for not reading all the details. For example, the patio bungalow that I reserved doesn't have air conditioning, but that was clearly written on the Booking website. I didn't pay attention to it, as I didn't expect a "5 star" place would not have this in an area where temperatures (in the winter) are above the 30 degrees celsius. This was a big mistake, and even with two ventilators it wasn't the most comfortable night of sleep. The second point is that correct, it's in the middle of the jungle, but some of the mosquito nets in the windows were a bit broken, which meant that there were mosquitos in the room, and on the first morning there was also a scorpion. This wasn't fun at all. This was the main reason why after only one night of the three I reserved, I decided to leave this place and not complete my stay. I had to do a full search of all my luggage just to feel sure that there wasn't another one of these scorpions or other insects in my luggage. Good to mention that as soon as we saw the scorpion, some of the staff immediately came to remove it from the room. The third negative thing was that as soon as I noticed that there wasn't air conditioning, I asked to see if I could upgrade to one of the rooms with air conditioning. The main concierge mentioned that I could, and we already had a deal in terms of price, time, and even for me to give a good review on Booking. However, this never happened, even after I asked a couple of times. Apparently there were some issues with one of the rooms and he could not provide this upgrade anymore (even if it seemed to be available rooms through Booking.com). I only found out this later on the day, and at this point I decided to leave the place. Here, they tried to find a way for me to stay, but I already had reserved a different place.
The setting is really cool: In the middle of the jungle, and the decor is just as in the pictures, the pools are really cool. The food in the restaurant was really good, and I liked how the people in the kitchen seem to be having fun! They have a nice fireplace that they turn on at night and they give you marshmallows to enjoy it. The welcome drink also super nice. Most of the staff present are super nice and helpful.

United KingdomUnfortunately, our experience started with a nightmare before we even arrived. The transportation service arranged by the property was a disaster—three hours late, not the promised shuttle, but a small personal car driven by a reckless "friend" of the management. The driver asked us to pretend we were family, confirming this was an unofficial and likely illegal service. After this unsafe and unprofessional ride, we were charged 2,950MEX making it the worst part of our stay. The property itself is beautiful, but a few things fell short. The "private" pool wasn’t private at all, fully visible to others, making it uncomfortable to use. The open-concept bathroom lacked privacy, which might not be ideal even for couples. Breakfast was just okay, with small portions, though lunch and dinner were much better. A major disappointment was the Day Pass system, allowing non-guests to flood the resort, taking away the exclusivity we expected. One day, over 20+ visitors arrived, making it feel more like a public attraction than a private retreat. The staff were fantastic, especially Arturo, but some were clearly overworked, and we learned they live in container homes behind the villas, raising concerns about their working conditions. Final Thoughts Would I recommend The Yellow Nest? - Yes, but with caveats. The property is stunning, the food is great, and the staff work hard to make the experience enjoyable. However, the transportation was terrible, the Day Pass system ruins exclusivity, and the lack of privacy in the rooms may not suit everyone. Final Rating: 6.5/10 → Could be 9/10 if they fix the key issues i've mentioned.
The property itself is stunning, offering a peaceful and secluded jungle escape. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and with a huge, comfortable bed that made for a great night’s sleep. While some bugs were present, that’s expected when staying in the jungle, and it wasn’t an issue for us. The food was another highlight. Lunch and dinner were consistently good, and the Signature Dinner experience was exceptional. The five-course meal with drink pairings was beautifully presented, with the chef personally explaining each dish, making the whole experience feel truly special. Held by the main pool after sunset, it was a unique and memorable evening that easily deserves a 9/10 rating. Having easy access to cenotes was also a huge plus. Taak Bi-Ha Cenote, just a 10-minute walk away, was by far the best one we visited. Dos Ojos Cenote, about 15-20 minutes away, was also great, but if I had to pick one, Taak Bi-Ha was the clear winner. As long as you return before dark, there’s little concern about encountering any wildlife along the road. The staff at The Yellow Nest were incredibly polite and attentive throughout our stay. Arturo deserves a special mention for always being available and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The gentleman managing the team was clearly doing his best to accommodate all requests, though it was evident that he was overworked. The Chef who prepared the Signature Dinner also stood out—we sincerely hope he knows just how talented he is.

- Staff are really friendly, helpful, and loyal - Good vibe to connect with the nature, I would recommend it for those who wanna be disconnected from the world - breakfast - Swimming pools

CanadaThe service was just ok. The staff seemed to be stressed out, running around, always hearing their walkie talkies, yet the resort itself didn't seem busy. Whenever we needed something ex. pool towels, hair dryers etc., it was challenging to find someone. The front desk was often empty and there is no specific staff members for specific roles- it seems they do it all, yet don't do much at all. We had a terrible sleep our first night due to music being played very loud far past 10:30 p.m. When we asked the resort, they were hosting a couples dinner and said they couldn't turn off the music. We were then woken the next morning around 7am by a leaf blower outside our nest. The nest itself wasn't very comfortable given the amount of money spent. It wasn't equipped with a mini fridge or hair-dryer and the bathroom does not offer much privacy. The bed was hard and the bedding wasn't very lush. There is no AC just a fan. Lastly, the included "American" breakfast was lack luster and left us hungry.
We selected this location specifically to attend Day Zero music festival. However, the festival changed it's policy and we had to take shuttles from Tulum town directly to the festival. The location is beautiful but remote, deep in the jungle. If you only want leave the resort to explore cenotes, than this is a great spot. Other activites are limited and the facilities were not amazing. The pools didn't feel very clean.

ChinaDespite its high ratings, this hotel was a complete letdown. Here are the issues I encountered during my stay: Terrible Hotel Service The staff lacked training and basic hospitality standards. Daily essentials like water, hairdryers, and bathroom amenities were only provided if we specifically asked, and even then, not consistently. The staff showed no initiative to ensure guests' comfort or needs. Terrible Room Conditions We booked the most expensive room with a private pool, but it was far from luxurious. The air conditioning, which was only supposed to run for 12 hours daily due to "energy restrictions," never worked during our stay, leaving the room extremely humid and uncomfortable. The bedsheets were stained on the first night and were never replaced. Also, given the jungle setting, there were no mosquito repellents, resulting in severe bites for my companion. Terrible Restaurant Service The on-site restaurant was overpriced and poorly managed. The owner was rude, the dining area was swarming with flies, and the mojito I ordered contained rotten lime leaves. Deceptive Practices The hotel claimed to offer airport transfers but lied on our departure day, saying no transportation was available despite having a driver and car ready. They instead arranged a $140 USD taxi without informing us of the cost beforehand. This nearly caused us to miss our flight, and we had to scramble to find alternative transportation ourselves.
I want to thank concierge Miguel and one of the drivers for their professionalism. Miguel was incredibly helpful in planning city trips with a reasonable budget and the driver went above and beyond to assist my partner when we needed to visit a hospital.

GermanyI don’t understand the high reviews - we stayed one night and it was more than enough. The way there is like a 20 min ride through potholes and no pavement. If the service was good it could be worth it but the staff is really unreliable - they promised us a shuttle to the cenote dos ojos at anytime we wanted and I said a couple of times we would go at this time and they were like yes of course no rush but then when we wanted to go no shuttle. We said then please pick us up and we gave in the time but no one came. We had to then walk in the jungle and it was not safe and we were chased by a dog. There is a temazcal (spa) area included and the staff said it was available after 14.00 but due to poor English he actually meant it’s only available at 14.00 which does not work if you are staying for one night as checkin is at 15.00 and checkout at 11.00. The breakfast and dinner was included but it was really a joke what is included and not tasty at all - so definitely not worth the price at all - go somewhere else!
The hotel is really beautifully designed and nested in the jungle for a peaceful time

SwitzerlandWe stayed at Yellow Nest for one night (January 2) based on the positive reviews and attractive photos. Unfortunately, our experience did not match the high expectations set by those reviews. Firstly, the resort is very remote, and the road leading to it is extremely bumpy, making access difficult. Once there, we found that the rates are completely unjustified for the level of service provided. While the staff were friendly and polite, that alone doesn’t justify a $300 per night price tag. The standard room was small, very basic, and lacked attention to detail. For instance, they didn’t have any pool towels available because they were “in the dryer,” and the bedspread appeared old and possibly unchanged for some time—completely unacceptable for a property charging this rate. The pool was small and unimpressive, not at all like what the photos suggest. As for the food, while the quality was decent, the service was extremely slow, which made the dining experience frustrating. They advertise that dinner and breakfast are included, but the options were very limited, and breakfast was particularly underwhelming. To make things worse, there was a generator running during the night, as mentioned in other reviews, and it was indeed making loud noise, which made it difficult to sleep. Although the staff were kind, they seemed untrained and unprepared, which added to our disappointment. We are reluctant to leave a negative review, but we believe it’s important to share this feedback so future guests have a more realistic idea of what to expect. The current reviews (even recent ones, from December 24) do not fully reflect reality.

LithuaniaAfter traveling to 54 countries and staying in hundreds of hotels this is gonna be my first negative review. Property calls themselves 5* sustainable and eco-friendly place, however, if you're gonna encounter a single problem they won't be willing to lift a finger for you. I had a family emergency and after asking to shorten my stay they simply refused to do so, showing that money is the only thing they are chasing. I have never met such a greedy attitude as I've got from the owner of this place. It's not a 5* hotel by any means. Besides their inhumane attitude they don't offer laundry services, the road leading to the hotel is in terrible condition and there are bugs inside the rooms. I would not recommend staying at this place by any means.

United KingdomThey *really* need to sort the service out. When we arrived the reception was deserted - rang the bell 4 times before venturing around the property to find someone. The tour of the property was incomplete (missed out the main pool area that we didn’t know existed). Had dinner at the property - they took our order, 30mins later had to ask if our drinks were coming, 1 hour later asked about our food which they had clearly forgotten. After re-checking our order 3 times they still got it wrong and without any real recognition or apology other than a comment that one of the waiters was new. The next morning had to ask repeatedly for milk for my coffee, after the third time asking I went to the kitchen myself to get some by which time coffee was pretty cold, they also repeatedly got my husband’s breakfast order wrong. Finally overnight our car was hit in the car park (which was quite stressful but I appreciate is not their fault or something they can control) - they were apologetic and asked if there was anything they could do to help which was appreciated. We asked them if they could write a short note on headed paper explaining what had happened which we could use for our insurance, they said it might take a little while (20mins) which we said was ok (albeit we were keen to leave and continue with other plans / sight-seeing) - 45 mins I asked where it was, promised they were printing it, another 20mins passed (assured they were just doing it) in the end it took them about 2 hours in spite of repeated chasing for them to email us something about 5 lines long - extremely frustrating and meant we missed some of the trips we had planned for the day. The guy we were dealing with seemed sincere but blamed the absence of his partners and was ultimately ineffectual.
I left the property very unhappy for reasons outlined below but I want to be fair and balanced. It is beautifully done out, stylish look, peaceful, close to a number of cenotes and drivable to Tulum ruins. Food was tasty (when it arrives - see below). Also some nice touches in terms of fire pit and pricing marshmallows to toast. With a few tweaks this place could be great but at the moment it isn’t.

United KingdomOn the first day the hotel staff gave us wrong information regarding the opening hours of the restaurant, (they told us that the restaurant closed at 20.00 when in fact closes at 22.00), that was on the day we landed so we ended up having to drive to Tulum (which is not close) to have dinner and then come back to the hotel to find out that the restaurant was open. On another day the didn't clean our room despite of this being in theory a 5* hotel and us being away from the room for 7 hours during the day. The road to get there is actually ridiculous, I don't think I have words to explain how horrible it is. Also I cannot understand that given that this is a 5* they don't invest of care to have a more decent access.

United States1) Road to get there is SUPER bumpy. It was the worst road condition I ever experienced in the Tulum area. I had a van and yet my van was shaking lol 2) AC doesn’t work. Staff said someone is coming to fix it, but no one came. 3) Private pool is really dirty & small. I decided to book a villa with private pool after looking at the picture, but I felt like I got scammed after I saw the private pool. It is the size of jacuzzi, bunch of leaves floating (they did clean it after I mentioned the pool quality), dirty water ( it seemed like they don’t filter or change the water). I didn’t end up using the pool. 4) Noise. I understand that the area is still developing, but the construction noise was really bad, and I could hear the drilling and everything for HOURS. Probably the most disappointing part because it interrupted my sleep in the morning. 5) Privacy. I had to close the curtains on the floor to ceiling window (aka entrance to my villa) because you can see inside the room from the pool, restaurant, and other common areas if the curtains are kept open. The villas are also close to one another. I do think this will be a huge plus if you are renting out all the villas on the property for wedding, party, etc. Overall, it was overpriced (I paid $375 USD per night) and one of the most disappointing experience I ever had with pricy hotels.
1) Environmental friendly- the property uses solar panel and the electricity randomly stops in the morning for about 10 min (can’t use shower, fan, etc). 2) Restaurant food was surprisingly really good! Breakfast tasted really healthy and I really appreciated both aesthetic & taste of everything I had during the stay. I could tell that they spent a lot of time thinking about the plating & menus :)
