Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe bedroom we had was run down. It needed refurbishment. Plunger coffee in the room would have been nice. The food was so-so, especially breakfast. The first morning the (limited) fresh fruit selection was not covered and had fruit flies swarming over it. The next morning the fruit was covered by the only plastic cover, so the cheeses and cold meats next to it were uncovered.
The location is absolutely stunning. The staff were very helpful. It was good to have access to equipment for water sports.

This is a very unique resort in a unique location. The resort is beautifully designed and laid out, with a range of activities, including water sports as well as various cosy spots to sit and read/play chess etc inside. Food was excellent and staff were lovely.

AustraliaThe food was unfortunately very average and extremely expensive. There are no real alternatives for food close by so you have to eat at the hotel. Dinner was a bit disappointing with small servings, even though the 3-course Easter dinner was good. Breakfast buffet is really good though.
The staff were super friendly and made sure our honeymoon was celebrated- got free drinks, dessert delivered to our room and offered a 50% discount on a room upgrade. I’m pregnant and the staff made sure to prepare the food in a way so I could eat everything and/ or offer me an alternative. The location is absolutely amazing, close to all the best spots of Ile de pines. The hotel itself is a bit older but really beautiful still and kept very clean. Free access to Kajaks, SUPs, snorkel gear, beach towels etc.

New ZealandFor almost $1000 a day (including dinner & breakfast) this was not up to the mark as a luxury get-away. (do get the food package you can, you will save money) Drinks cost an arm & leg! Love the natural pool/lagoon to snorkel. But here is a WARNING: Only snorkel an hour before low tide. If low tide is at 12 pm, be there at 11 am. This allows you enough time to explore the lagoon. It's a 20/25 min walk from reception. Don't swim for much longer then an hour as the incoming tide brings the Bluebottle Jellyfish and they STING you. Lots of people were strung by the jellyfish and for the life of me, I do not know why the reception can not let you know this important information!
Great location. Breakfast is ok . Dinner is ok. A nice place for rest and relaxation! A world away from the world.

New ZealandThe fact that I was overcharged at checkout and that I will have to wait three weeks for the refund. The room was a little tired looking. The breakfast ran low of items and if you went after 8 o'clock they didn't appear to replace the items. No bread, no croissants, no fruit when I went however when I asked for fruit it was brought to me. It just wasn't replenished on the buffet. I also had to wait nearly an hour for my eggs benedict as they forgot my order and when I asked after half an hour the staff were highly apologetic, but I then had to ask again half an hour later for them.
I liked the location, the beach, the surrounding area, the room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good.

AustraliaService was a bit hit and miss, the DVD library appeared to only have French DVDs (even English language films) and there were no streaming services.
Le Meridien is beautifully located, with a gorgeous lagoon, white sand and close to the Naturelle Piscine, one of the Ile des Pins' natural wonders. It is a great resort, with large comfy beds and a feeling of luxury. We spent five nights here as a family of four and relaxed completely.

AustraliaWe understand staying at a premium priced hotel means all meals will be a premium as well. Our only wish was that the bar menu meals ( the cheaper option ) had less french fries and more salad or something else with the main item.
Truly outstanding resort where we wished we could have have stayed for more than 1 night. It all started when we arrived to the airport, wondering how would we get to the hotel. Taxis are non-existent in most places. We would discover the hotel had responded to our flight arrival details and booked a shuttle (navette) and while this was an additional cost, it was what we would have paid for regardless. We were just impressed that we felt we were being looked after. On arrival to the hotel, from check in to check out, it was an experience we didn't want to end and still talk about. We want to go back and plan to stay longer next time. All staff were friendly and thinking of them brings a smile to our faces, including those that spoke no English, which for us meant we had fun doing our best to parlé français.

AustraliaBeing a remote island with only a few hotels limited choice and this was the best hotel on the island. The staff need more training and there was a limited lack of food selection be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. The manager is great and when we raised the our concerns fixed it straight away but at these prices who shouldn’t expect the manager to have to do this, with some improvements around menu and service definitely can be up there with resorts around the pacific
