Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI'm going to put the full email we wrote the hotel which they have not responded to as yet. I am writing to express my profound disappointment and dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Hotel Continental Lagos, which I had anticipated to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, a series of disturbing incidents have compelled me to seek redress for the considerable inconvenience and discomfort my partner Lydia and I endured. Firstly, upon our arrival, we were dismayed to find our assigned room permeated with a strong odour of dampness. Although we requested to change rooms and were shown an alternative it had the the same issue, compelling us to settle in the initial room with a dehumidifier operating throughout the night. This was noisy and bulky and did very little to eliminate the damp smell. Due to changes in our travel arrangements, we extended our stay by two nights at a considerable rate of N230,000, only to encounter additional problems. We took the opportunity to again request a new room in the hopes that we might be given one without the oppressive damp smell. In requesting to change the room we had to wait for over an hour for somebody to show us the new room. We had planned to go out into Lagos but after all of the time waiting around it delayed the start of our day so we chose to stay in the hotel and use the services here. During our dinner at the hotel restaurant, I was erroneously charged thrice for the same meal, amounting to N56,000 each time. Although I was reassured that the charges would be reversed, this has yet to be reflected in my bank statement. In addition to paying three times for one meal, I had to stand at the front desk for over 20 minutes trying to resolve the issue. The pinnacle of our distressing experience was the discovery of termites in our room late at night, an utterly unacceptable situation in any lodging establishment.

AustraliaWe were only staying 1 night. I have stayed here 3 times for extended periods so some of the so some of the staff know me. I put a card down for payment in local currency and because i wasn’t paying in USD they mysteriously couldn’t find the booking for an hour even though they had confirmed by email. In Nigeria the exchange rate for USD is whatever they make up on the day and does not comply with world market rates. They were annoyed because with Naira they cant play with the exchange rate and skim off the top. They tried to bait and switch us giving a superior room when we ordered executive but we were still paying for executive. When we complained they changed immediately without questioning because we called them out on it. We were locked out of our room 2 times due to our card being deactivated and they declined our card at their restaurant claiming system issues. When we went to the front desk to fix my partner overheard the manager say to the receptionist, give him the machine that doesn’t work. This is all to get me to pay in USD. Of course when we called them out, magically our card worked. When we paid our bill I showed the senior guy at the front desk the Naira rate quoted by Booking.com and he had already put in another higher amount. He said. Oh the amount is negligible. I said no way this is the price and thats what I’m paying. Again trying to skim. My partner is Nigerian so he knows all their tricks. If you don’t call them out they don’t respect you so dont let it slide.
Beautifully appointed, rooms were lovely. Amenities are great

United KingdomSewage smell in the bathroom. Breakfast needs to be more diverse. For the buffets, you often have to ask for food to be refilled. The staff remuneration needs to be looked at. You feel like you have to tip everyone because they don’t get paid well under the harsh economic climate in Nigeria!!!
Grand building but requires refurbishing.

NigeriaParking was a nightmare and the staff at the car park were extremely rude. They basically told me to drive out and leave the car park because “there was no space and it’s not their fault”. Didn’t even try to provide a solution and warned me to not park in a free space. Check out was also same experience. I had informed upon check in that I was going to check out late. Anyways, two men come into my room to harass me to check out and say they don’t have the information printed that I’m checking out late, like that was my fault. They didn’t even try to resolve the discrepancy at their end. They basically entered the room and wanted me out and spent the next few minutes talking about paying late check out fees
Facilities are good and neat. Location is central in VI. The food is also good

NigeriaRoom service staff was terribly rude and inconsiderate. Rachel Uwakwua was incredibly argumentative and refused to fulfill orders. They insisted on calling at late hours of the night, even after being asked not to. Really subpar service, no initiative towards hospitality. Unfortunately, the quality of the food in the exec lounge was also subpar. I'd recommend ordering in while staying here.
Exec lounge staff was attentive and incredibly welcoming. They took the initiative to be hospitable, calling to remind of happy hour and made the stay overall very pleasant. They easily facilitating an extension when the hotel was at full capacity.

United KingdomThe main issue I had was the fact that the staff will come to the table before the end of my meal requesting for payment. This was quite embarrassing especially when I had guest over at the hotel to have lunch with me. I am a guest staying at the hotel, they should wait until I request for the bill before coming to me with bill asking for payment. That is a major issues which needs to be addressed.
The location is fine and the breakfast was also okay.

NigeriaFor a whole day, my tv stations were out, even after a put several calls to the service line. So what did i pay #212,000 per night for???? To be in a blank room without movies?? That's the worse ever. And none of the staff could do something about it. Secondly, a boy tasked with the responsibility of scheduling cabs, was only interested in money, rather than expediting action on our taxi timings. I thought it was just me, only to discover there was an elderly fair woman equally waiting outside for her cab. You need to pay attention to the cab service.
