Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canadatechnology should behave to serve the people using the technology. unfortunately the Ruby Emma believes it’s up to people to change their behaviour to suit their technology, which creates a very frustrating experience. firstly, checking in took far longer than at a normal hotel, because you have to use their weird check-in kiosks and create your own key card while a staff member instructs you on how to check-in (instead of just checking you in). everything in your room is controlled via an iPad, which is not intuitive when compared to physical controls like switches, tv remotes, etc. I paid for a late check out, but instead the hotel decided there was nobody in my room at 11am and turned off all the power while I was still inside the room. because everything was controlled with the iPad, I could no longer do very basic things like turn on lights, open the blinds, and because there is no phone in the room I couldn’t even tell the front desk what was happening. I was in complete darkness. I’m just glad I wasn’t in the shower at the time because that would have been potentially dangerous. if you like the idea of a hotel room that requires an instruction manual then this hotel might be for you. but if you believe that technology should be invisible and make your life easier rather than more difficult, go somewhere else.
the room was large and comfortable, easy to get to via transit.

AustraliaNot worth $2100 AUD for three nights! No breakfast included in this amount either. They only offer pizza for food, nothing else. It is a green hotel so you check in yourself, you need to do everything yourself, including activating you room key. :( I much prefer one on one with people.
The room was very clean. The bar area is lovely and the staff in the bar are very friendly.

United KingdomCouple of lights didn't work, ipad that controls room facilities did not work for first two days of our stay (they gave us a drink voucher each for the bar as an apology). No coffee making facilities in room but in central location on each floor. We knew this in advance but they kept running out of cups, milk and sugar ! The sink being in the room rather than separate was a little strange.
Close to metro station (Spaklerweg). Opposite is a McDonalds, and a minutes walk to a small convenience store. Very clean room. We had a "Cosy" room and had its own small fridge and safe (free of charge to use).

United KingdomRooms looked lovely but no tea bags/coffee or milk. Think we paid for the technology in the room but this was wasted on us and we couldn’t get the light on the tv to switch off so was on all night and we’re not old.
Quite a way out from the centre, we were cycling, but very near a metro station so easy to get in.

FranceThis really isn't a hotel. It is a program. Guests are like data being treated by the hotel application. You cannot arrange anything with the hotel, for example a late checkout. You must conform to the 'smart' program the hotel has pre-programmed. There is no service to be had. You can iron your clothes in a communal area, if you want a hotel to enjoy communal areas. If you require no 'charm' no good vibrations, like total lack of formality and sense of service. If you think clients are there to make hotels rather than hotels are there to serve clients, than this may be good for you.
Chosen for proximity to Metro and ability to park. Those are the high points. I had a place which was strategic for someone with business in Amsterdam centre but who needed to get out of Amsterdam quickly once the business was completed. It is this aspect which made this choice somewhat satisfactory. I got off the highway, into a parking garage, into the metro and into town, back out, slept, got back on the highway without having to deal with the most congested parts of the city. For this the reservation was good.

ItalyA clever hotelier hiding behind the excuse of ecology. A hotel about which I had high expectations, disregarded already at the entrance with the automatic checkin where the guest has to hand himself the keys (and scan the documents himself). Even vending machines (for a fee) that deliver bathroom kits and other things that are usually already included in a normal hotel, especially in a 200+€ a night one. In the rooms: small towels, low lights, air conditioner that doesn't get to heat. I would call the whole experience aseptic, except for the dust that was present in the room. One final note: if the industry is called "hospitality" there must be a reason; hoteliers should question themselves about this before blindly following Europe's ecological and digital follies. At the same time, guests should question whether following these ideologies is a sign of civic sense or a clever way to make more money by offering less. Sometimes the European (bad) dream strangely coincides with the hotelier's dream of saving money on bills.

SingaporeThough the check-in process is automated, the software or hardware are not up to par, so still got to seek help. Housekeeping standard not good with dirt and hair still lying around and towels unchanged after service. My wife was very upset that her contact lens casing got thrown away.
The view from the room is good and the bed is nice and comfy. Room layout is a bit strange with the toilet and shower located separated by the bed and cloth hanger away from the doorway, but accepted. The hotel has a positive vibe and modern feel.. hotel is short walk and 6 stations away from centraal on rail network which is very convenient.

ItalyBut that's not all: on the second night of my stay, the hotel played dance music at full volume until 00:30 AM, which could be distinctly heard all the way to my room. The next day I had an important meeting at 8:30 AM, but evidently this hotel is not intended for working people. I thought I had experienced the worst, but instead the next day the hotel held a party for its 10th anniversary. There is nothing wrong with that, but this party was organized to the detriment of the hotel guests staying there. The party lasted until 2:00 AM with very loud music; there was no surveillance at the entrance; drunk and staggering people wandered all over the hotel. By breakfast the next day, the hotel was dirty and sticky and smelled of alcohol. The breakfast counter was still cluttered with speakers and amplifiers, and it was even difficult to access the breakfast cutlery. Breakfast, at a cost of 20.00 euros per person per night, is totally inadequate at this price and by the standards of a four-star hotel. To give just one example, there are only hard-boiled eggs that are repeated from day to day and no other options are offered. The coffee is very bad. In essence, this is a hotel that purports to be cool, hipster, green, but is actually ugly, uncomfortable, dirty, unscrupulous in its use of electricity and food, run by unmotivated and untrained staff, and surrounded by hideous suburbia. It is a real neo-liberal hell run with total unscrupulousness. Horrendous.
Let's start at the beginning: the Ruby hotel is a high-rise building located on the outskirts of Amsterdam, adjacent to a blighted urban area, overlooking a parking lot and a McDonald's, surrounded by noisy construction work. The hotel has virtually no front desk or stable front desk staff, but an automated check-in system that works horribly. Long check-in lines are created, and the occasionally present staff is neither trained nor prepared to professionally resolve problems. These are young boys and girls mostly from other countries who clearly have not received the training that would be required in a hotel with these prices. I reported to a staff member, when I finally found one, that I had booked a double room but was alone, and instead the girl in question entered the details of a second fictitious person into the system. This is clearly illegal, and as you will read below, it is part of the problems that, in general, this hotel has with customer safety, which is not adequately protected. As a result of this erroneous and fallacious check-in, I was charged 80.00 euros in breakfast costs for a non-existent person. But let us proceed: the room was extremely noisy because beyond the door was a huge refrigerator running day and night, producing vibration, noise and heat all around. This hotel adopts a green rhetoric but it is greenwashing a facility that hugely wastes energy and resources, employs underpaid staff, and creates revenue with imperfect automation and to the detriment of customer comfort.

United KingdomStaff didn’t greet us, made us feel like we shouldn’t be there. Also, we would go out in the morning about 9-9:30am and return about 5pm to get changed and freshen up before going out for the night and the room hadn’t been cleaned in the space of time we were out and 10 mins after we returned they would ask if we wanted it doing (we said no as we were having showers etc). This happened everyday which resulted in our room not being cleaned at all!
The room was gorgeous! Amazing location and pretty views.
