Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaThe Friday Night Loud Live Music in the Restaurant. But as the facility is to be catered for all types of customers, I can just waive it off. They were very apologetic towards my request for reducing the volume of live music.
The atmosphere in the hostel, cleanliness, the staff behaviour especially of Mr. Saurabh who is always ready to answer any queries, The whole experience is worth more than you pay. (I stayed in a private room, which is always in demand).

IndiaI don’t understand why the rating of Flock is so high. Based on my experience, this was one of the worst stays I’ve ever chosen in Nepal. The staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. On the night of the 31st, I was suffering from a high fever, so I called the receptionist to request a cup of ginger tea, but she immediately refused. I explained to her that it was an emergency, which is why I was asking for it; otherwise, I could have gone to the cafeteria myself. Despite this, my request was ignored. After two hours, she finally came to my dorm and gave me a glass of hot water. I can’t help but wonder: if a family member of the Flock staff visited India and received the same treatment, how would they feel? Everything in the hostel is paid for, even basic amenities like a towel. I had a wonderful time in Nepal, and everyone I met was so kind throughout my trip—except for my last night at Flock.
The dorm in which I had stayed was comfortable

New ZealandThe room didn't smell so good, a bit like a toilet smell, almost like it wasn't ventilated well, the toilet seat was broken too. The pillows were not comfy. The buffet breakfast was not to our taste at all, hardly any healthy options and low quality ingredients. The hostel wasn't flexible with our booking so we had to pay for an extra night. This is fair enough as it is their rules and I get it is a business..... However my recommendation would be that anyone flying back from lukla books another place that is flexible with bookings or if there is an option to make the booking flexible then do that. Chances are that you will get stuck in lukla due to weather for a day or 2 and loose your money like we did.
The hostel has lots of cool areas to sit and relax. It's very modern for nepal. Nice hot shower with good water pressure (nice for after hiking) Very big and tasty menu (minus the buffet breakfast). Our waiter was very friendly too.

IndiaNo room service even after booking a private room they charge you extra 10% for the room service, cafe is in another building's 4th floor so if you're staying in the private room you have to come down to the ground floor and then again you have to climb 4 floors, no life, no one is there for room cleaning, i stayed for 3 days but no one at a single point of time came to clean the room
In terms of connectivity to the thamel market, it's good and rooms are as shown in the pictures

Hong KongIt's not that clean. I found the cleaning labour not really change the bedding for the upcoming guest. I stayed in 8 bed female dorm with private toilet and bathroom, however both of the doors was making sounds whenever it's close or open.... very annoying. The front desk charge me 3.5% to 5% more in credit card payment which is illegal. The room door card always not working well.
This is a stylish hostel when compare of the others near by. Self service drinking water machine located almost every floor. Was satisfied in the laundry service. The roof top restaurant is cool.

NetherlandsThey don’t tell you this before hand but they’re undergoing massive refurbishments & my room was in this new area. When I got into the room, there was dirt all over the floor & it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The staff made sure it was cleaned right away which is good but the place itself isn’t very welcoming. There’s also no communal area to sit at which I find a little odd & the road where the hostel is situated feels a little dodgy & dark at night.
The room was comfortable & of good value and the staff were friendly. I am sure once the construction work is done that it’ll be more pleasant.

GermanyWhen I was there there were major constructions going on in the hostel part my room was located in which I didn’t know before I got there. The staff apologized like a million times but this didn’t cover the fact that there was dust everywhere on the floor. At night it was really noisy and bright from the surrounding rooftops of the other hotels.
I really liked the location of the hostel. It’s very close to many nice restaurants in Thamel but tucked away in a very quiet street (at least for some parts of the day/night). The hostel offers a lot: they have two restaurants one of them an amazing rooftop, daily tours or shuttles to/from the airport. Perfect if you don’t feel like organizing everything on your own (and are willing to spend a little bit of extra money).

VietnamThe rooms host too many people. Every night I stinks like used air from all the guests cause there is no fresh air coming in the rooms. Also the ac doesn’t really cool down the rooms. I stayed here twice and both times I couldn’t sleep very well. WiFi is not the greatest. Especially in the bathroom are you don’t have WiFi or internet connection which sucks.
The bathrooms are nice and clean. Comfortable mattress
