How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Rooms are quite hot, but there’s a fan, bed is shorter than 1.75m and pretty hard, can’t lock the dorm rooms from the outside. But for a short stay nothing worth mentioning, I was satisfied
Location is good, the roof terrace is very nice, a trekking agency goes with the hostel, price & value is good (I was there off season)

Wifi was unreliable at times but still acceptable.
Good location, friendly and helpful staff, very clean and well maintained hostel, cool rooftop. Overall, excellent value for a short stay.

I had a really great time in Holiday Hostel. Rooms are very confortables and clean. Soap, shampoo, toilet paper and towel are provided, and water as well. There is a very nice rooftop, and you can eat there really good food. The localisation is in Thamel, near to all commodities. I staid in private room and dormitory room, the both have the same standing. You can also let your stuff during weeks if you need it for free. I really recommend this place !

The workers English is good but not perfect, the shower takes a minute to heat up, nothing special
location is perfect, the rooftop is nice, wasn’t crowded and even had the dorms to myself on my first night there

Is a lot of stairs if you get put on the top floor but wasn’t an issue for us

I can recommend this place to stay in KTM. It is well located and easy to find in Thamel. Staff is very friendly. If you plan any activities, the agency in the house can help you with all this. I booked with them and was also very satisfied. … and I have not mentioned the roof top terrace with nice drinks and good local food 😊

Wifi was slightly weak and had some trouble accessing it through the room though I believe this was a once off and staff were actively working to improve it everyday.
Great value, hostel is clean and staff were extremely helpful who went out of their way to help if there were any issues. Received lots of advice and ended up booking a trekking tour through them which went really well as well. Location is good, just a bit further down south in Thamel so the noise and dust isn't as intense but still within easy walking distance of everything.

Nice Hostel in Thamel. Very friendly staff, rooms are big enough and bathroom pretty clean. Nice rooftop/common area with bar. The location is perfect in the heart of Thamel, which is The touristic place to be in Kathmandu. All amenities close to the place, shops, restaurant, clubs, etc... I could leave my bag in a storage room during my trek which was super helpful. They also have an agency for anything you might want to do, trekking, tours, and many activities. I felt sick at some point because of food poisoning from another place and they would make sure that I was OK and help with anything, which was super kind, I really appreciated it.

This hostel is exellent. I have my share of expirience living in hostels in different countries and parts of the world including Asia. And I have to say that this hostel is really good. Clean and neat, located in good and convinient place. The stuff is polite, professiobal and kind. Owner Mr. Kumar always ready to help guests in everything. I am absolutely satisfied with staying in Holiday Hostel in Kathmandu.

perfect location, excellent breakfast and the rooftop is a really nice feature. The owners are tremendously helpful and accommodating. They go above and beyond to answer all your questions about trekking. Highly recommend.

I loved this place! I stayed in both the private room and also the female dorm room. Both were great. Hot shower, rooftop area with breakfast, the staff is very friendly and helpful with everything. also, located right in Thamel walking distance to everything.

Before we checked in I already had contact with the hostel and they helped me with finding a guide for the trekking I wanted to do. With this preparation we won an extra day vacation. Can really reccomand this hostel :)

Hm, not this time!
Eager and smily staff to help in whatever i asked, very good communication, and best prices so far! I will return again after a week in Pokhara! The roof is a very calm place to chill! Cheers!
