This accommodation was an excellent base for hiking the Abel Tasman Track. The hosts arranged our water taxis so we could walk a couple of sections of the track during our stay and this worked out perfectly. They also provided us with a tasty packed lunch for our walks. Breakfast could also be provided if required. The room we stayed in was lovely and had all required facilities. Laundry and ironing was available in a separate room and a large clothes airer was available in each room that could be put in the garden or on your terrace. Marahau is a lovely little town with a couple of excellent restaurants. My personal preference was Hooked.

Struggled to get the hob in the room to work - but that is literally the only issue I can think of, and it didn’t matter because there are hobs in the shared kitchen.

This place was great. It was spotlessly clean with great customer service and facilities - in much the way you’d expect of a large expensive hotel - but was totally unpretentious and had all the charm of a low-key, out-of-the-way lodge. Really hard to fault. I think we were lucky in that our two-bed chalet had a beautiful view of the mountains and horses out back. V comfortable beds, and great daily room servicing. Tina was lovely and available any time we needed anything at all. Good kitchen facilities are important to me as I have restrictive dietary needs, and although the kitchen facilities in the room are relatively limited and we struggled to get the hob to work (fridge, toaster, combi microwave/oven and kettle v useful though), the big kitchen was supremely well kitted out (two ovens/hobs, an air fryer, and even communal food like cooking oil, seasoning, even some pasta etc), so it was easy for me to cook my own food. The jacuzzi was a treat, easy to book our 30-min slot (though no one was booked after us so we stayed an hour) and it feels really private, quiet and separate from the other rooms. Staring up at the milky way in the jacuzzi was pretty magical! Location was perfect, equidistant from “town” (ie a nice waterfront cafe and the general store/ kayak pick-up location), and from the entrance to the national park. This made it ideal for us, as I walked/ran on the trail most days, but also went out on a tour and wanted easy access to the shop. There aren’t many hotels in Marahau (there are more in Kaiteriteri) but I’m so glad we stayed here in Marahau. Felt more remote with easy national park access, but still quality, comfortable, and all the facilities needed. Lastly, the beautiful gift shop in the hotel reception was brilliant for buying a few unique and nice quality souvenirs.

It would have been nice to have more information about the surroundings from the staff as I couldn't understand the names of the towns nearby or beaches. You need a car to be in this area.

The water taxi and kayak outfit is only 5 minutes by walking. It is located just 15 minutes to start the Able Tasman Walking Track. Our room was large and had a private deck by the gardens. There is a large shared kitchen and laundry machines on site.

Nothing at all, everything was great.

Perfect spot to explore Abel Tasman! We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. The room and bed were super comfortable. Everything was clean and welcoming. The room was equipped with everything we needed. Breakfast on the patio was great. We were able to do laundry while there, too, which was a nice bonus. The owner was a very nice lady, quite helpful. Highly recommend and would love to stay here again one day!

My only note would be to have a bigger tv - but the views outdoor more than make up for that.

Super helpful staff especially Scott who checked us in. Beautiful location, super comfortable beds and stunning garden out back - a lovely place to come home to and to wake up to.

It was one of the best places we had ever stayed! We absolutely loved the place. It was our honeymoon moon and when we were there it was also my birthday. So my husband text them in secret to have a surprise prepared for me when we arrive. Scott and Jocelyn were very nice with him, giving some ideas of surprises that he could do and upon our arrival I have a marvelous flower bouquet and a card, and also a massage of my choice. I decided to have the massage on the day after and was also one of the best massages that I did! Besides that, before our arrival they send us a lot of informations about the places available to eat in the village, where to buy groceries and recommendations about the road. And when we arrive Scott booked for us the dinner and a tour and explained a lot of things about abel tasman park. The room was super comfortable and had everything we needed. There's a small terrace outside each room that we didn't use but that was very cozy as well. In the end Scott gave us a porcelain kiwi to our Christmas tree. There's no doubt that this is the place to stay in Marahau!

Our stay at Abel Tasman Lodge was nothing short of magical. Scott, the owner, was incredibly friendly and attentive, offering valuable advice on adjusting our hiking route due to rainy weather. The lodge itself is cozy and comfortable, nestled in the stunning surroundings of Abel Tasman National Park. We were touched by Scott's hospitality and the beautiful gift he gave us as we departed. Our experience was truly unforgettable, and we can't wait to return to this hidden gem.
