How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The buffet breakfast was exceptional. We ate dinner in the lounge area and it was very good as well. Good service.

There was a smell of vomit between the bed and the bathroom wall. This might need checking.

Tried to book a table the night before as I had quests joining for Breakfast. Hotel was full and was concerned that a table would not be available at the time arranged. Was advised that restaurant did not take bookings. In this instance was not an issue.
Restaurant for breakfast has always been of a very good standard. Staff friendly and helpful keep up the great work

Couldn’t use the spa and pool due to the fact there were kids everywhere for school holidays. They should have adult evenings from 6-9pm not early mornings! The restaurant 8 was very overpriced as the food was less than average.
The location and the staff were great! We also had the best sleep on a very comfortable bed! The staff went over and above for us with check in/out times. Thank you so much!

I didn’t like that we could not access the hotel from the Lower Ground floor. They said it was for security reasons. It will still be secure if it was room key access only
My wife and I stayed in the Executive Suite and had club lounge access. The club lounge was perfect to work the day away as we both had a lot of important online meetings to tend to.

No complaints, we love this hotel!
This was our 2nd time staying at Cordis, but our 1st with our young daughters, and it was even better than we remembered! Service, as always, was top-notch. We were checked in right away, got help with our bags, and the girls were each given a welcome gift. The ice cream vouchers were a highlight of the stay; what a huge perk that is in the eyes of kids! The gym is phenomenal, as is the pool and hot tub. Even in the winter, it was very pleasant to swim outside. Slippers and robes were great to have. Housekeeping was quick and thorough every day. When we're next in Auckland, we'll be back again for Round 3!

Couldn’t get into the Brilliant online stuff so couldn’t get info on gym facilities which I would have liked.
The door staff were incredible. Especially Brendon. Can’t believe how they handle all the valet cars.

The rooms were really dusty. The bedding was also strange the duvet cover kept riding up.
