How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

I’m wanted extra space so I booked the corner room not knowing the bathroom would pick up half the room because of the large tub; had gotten use to it after a couple of nights
The location was close to everything; food ; shopping ; sky tower ; ASB Arena ; etc. Very convenient The gym and the buffet breakfast was exceptional especially the omelette

Breakfast had good variety but nothing really memorable, just average.
Hotel is in a good/central position and easy/fast to reach from highway. The view of Auckland Tower was great. Price really competitive respect to others.

Unfortunately we were unable to access the bar on the top floor. It was NYE and they appeared to close an hour early before their closed event.
Great location, friendly staff and comfortable and clean. Facilities were modern and easy to access. Breakfast was great.

Check in seemed very automated, no personality. I was also in a sling with a broken shoulder, there was no offer of assistance with my bags, or acknowledgement that I could be struggling.
Location is excellent. I did not eat at the hotel.

Everything on the properties was closed - swimming pools, sauna and the rooftop bar. Staff take an extended break at Christmas - so not the best time to stay here. Parking is a nightmare and costly.
Location and the room was pleasant. The cafeteria on the ground floor had a good chill ice of food.

Very tight spaces even for a major city. Felt like an Ibis hotel.

The room was too small.The main entrance address was not on the street that appeared on the booking reservation, so arrival was quite confusing. They should correct it.

The bathroom door very2 difficult to open and close. The sliding design door was bad. Breakfast needs to improve varieties. Example no salmon.

There were pillows but no cushions in the room, so not great for extra back support in the armchair. Churchill lounge was closed [for Christmas break].
Room had refreshing outlook over the city centre. Staff helpful and friendly; good location near city centre and art gallery etc.

The Manager on duty Mr. Amit was very helpful regarding the need for a wheelchair for my wife, which she was able to use throughout the day, including during our shopping in town. The complimentary berry water station next to the reception is also very refreshing.

Was a good value with very good breakfast and central to the downtown. The downside is that if you want to go out for a walk in the evening, there is absolutely nothing around there of interest, without taking a cab and going somewhere else.

Main thing I didn’t like was having the bible in the room…is it 1960?? Felt a bit out of place to be honest. Also there was no kettle for hot water… The breakfast should have had gluten free options.

the blue glow generated by the exterior glass cladding made the room dark and the lighting couldn’t compensate for it.
the room was big with a view. the car valet service was excellent. the Churchill bar was lovely. the staff were so pleasant

In addition to charging us for an additional days stay we didn't use because we arrived in the early hours; you then charged us a $60 fee to pay by credit card. Will pay cash next time.
Room was fine. Clean, good shower and bed. That is all I look for in a hotel. Facilities were also good.
