Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI missed being able to make a cup of tea in my room but I knew that when I booked
Really modern, clean and comfortable with great customer service. We went for a concert and the property had special booklets and web page with everything to know for the concert!

BelgiumThere are not always windows in the rooms, even tough there was a good ventilationsystem, it felt a bit unnatrual.
Spacious hostel. Everything you need for a visit of Auckland. The pods are designed to be small, practical and comfortable.

New ZealandLocation is really great as it’s nearby CBD. Convenient and Miss Lucy’s 💯 — the staff on duty went above and beyond in helping us out when we needed help with our broken luggage.

I appreciated the help we received from staff. The person who was working on the evening shift on November 13th. helped us immediately bringing a fan and went beyond to accommodate our needs. Thanks 🙏

United StatesHad a private room with bathroom and found it comfortable though a bit on the smaller side. The bar downstairs was busy and good to hangout with others.

Germanyit can be quite loud due to Miss Lucy‘s playing music until late, the only quiet space to make a proper phone call in the evening is the booth in the foyer (since the Outlook common room is a quiet zone after 10pm)
the pods are amazing for privacy, everything is new, stylish, and clean

New ZealandAs opposed to LyLo Brisbane, this hostel doesn't give towels for free. It's also not the best that there are no windows in the rooms. It wasn't a dealbreaker, and the ventilation is good enough, but - again - LyLo Brisbane was better from this point of view. Overall, while the pods make the hostel experience much better than hanging out in the same room with others without any privacy, this hostel is rather pricey for what it offers. At some point (because I kept returning to this hostel for two weeks) I paid 270 dollars for three nights.
I like the concept of pods. They give the guests privacy. I liked that the detergent was included in the price of the laundry. There are some nice communal areas like the Outlook and the Ms Lucy's bar where LyLo guests get 10% off food and drinks.

IrelandThe kitchen facilities were typical of a hostel - not much by way of utensils and the fridges weren't great. A bit overcrowded and smelly. But that's not unusual in hostels.
The common areas were really lively and welcoming, which was great for a solo traveller. I loved the eating area and the bar. The staff were incredibly helpful.

BelgiumOur shower drained very slowly, which flooded the bathroom a little bit, but it didn't bother us. We told the staff at checkout so they can fix it for the next guests.
Very clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Great location and the restaurant/bar on the ground floor is very convenient.

New ZealandSome people complained about hearing a bit of thumping, etc. We did, but it didn't bother us. Wasn't at all enough to ruin our stay. We parked next door in the dodgy looking carpark using the Parkable app. Once we sorted that out though we left our car there for the 2 nights we stayed and used public transport. It was fine.
Location, chill vibe, everything we needed, clean, friendly staff, areas to relax quietly, breakfast at Miss Lucys. Even having no windows in our room was actually great. Being blacked out was good in the morning because we lost track of what time of day it was so we relaxed more.

New ZealandWe stayed during a 'big event' weekend so perhaps the ensuite rooms were more expensive than normal due to supply and demand. However, as a result the price was comparable to other standard accomm options.

FranceLocation is great for being close to the CBD, but it's good to note that a homeless shelter is at the corner of the street, with some people dealing with mental healnesses, drugs and other sad stuff like that. It doesn't feel 100% safe. The self check-in/out is great but it's a bit "sad" to deal with an iPad instead of a real person. The shower didn't drain very well and overflowed on the bathroom floor. The linen system is awful (personal opinion). Just a flat sheet on the mattress that moves anytime you turn around. The worst part is the duvet: it is simply placed between two flat sheets. After few minutes/hours in the bed you'll end up with a bare duvet covering you. A duvet with stains (I found foundation/make up stains from previous guests). Who knows what else/body part touched that duvet too. Awful.
Modern ho(s)tel, easy check-in/check-out. Seems to have tons of activities for guests. I didn't stay long enough to really judge the kitchen/breakfast/bar and other facilities offered there, but is seems nice
