How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Super close to spark arena, and 10 minute walk to main train station, perfect accommodation for those wanting to attend concerts! Clean and tidy no frills just what I was after.

be careful of what you're looking to book, the cheaper rooms do not have windows it can be really hot and loud if your room is in the street side
the staff was really helpful toilets and bathrooms are cleaned twice a day, so it is really clean the facilities are nice, but please clean after yourself after cooking

You couldn't drink alcohol in the common space
Great location and was surprised to have towels, face cloths and cups in our rooms. Exactly what we needed for a one night

The lock in doors did not work from the outside also the instructions regarding the luggage room wasn't clear - whether it was included or extra

Not a ton of atmosphere or sociability. The building is more about function than beauty. The walls were thin so you could hear other people talking and closing doors.
This place is great for a night or two. The room had a bed, night stand with warm light lamp, towels for the shower, and was clean and comfortable. Really functional but it has everything you need for a stay, and to get a private room at this price in Auckland is amazing. The location is decent: near a big Woolworths and a short walk to Britomart.

Photos are great, but they don't mention you won't have a window which is claustrophobic and feels like a prison. I assume there is people that likes this, but not in my case. Bed and pillows are also uncomfortable so I only stayed there for the price.

The location of this hostel is fantastic! Super close to the grocery store and the Auckland city center. This is by no means luxury accommodation, but it was clean, quiet, convenient, and I felt safe the entire six nights I stayed there.

Very noisy being close to the strreet

Rooms don't have their own mirrors so you have to use the ones in the toilets/showers. More photos of rooms would be appreciated.
The kitchen was great along with the fan, hanging space, and mini fridge in my room. I am grateful for the luggage storage as I arrived before my check-in time.

People it is shared bathrooms. You mess it up clean it up. Shower room had hooks for clothes and there was a basket in the shower for your supplies. No fridge in the small kitchen. I didn't use kitchen because of how very basic it was.
Room wasn't large but it was decent size a twin bed, clothes rack, chair and low dresser. Room had a fan in it. No window but I knew that when I booked.

VALUE FOR MONEY!! For the price of a bunk-bed in a shared room in other hostels, you get your own decent sized room with a small wardrobe, dressing table, chair and a small fridge. Plus AC and a fan. Okay it has no windows but you get your space, privacy and sleep!! For a night or two - its perfect! I'll definitely book again!

No window in my room.
Complete kitchen and laundry room in basement. Check out time is 11 instead of the usual 10. There was a friendly guy who helped me navigate the codes and doors to get into the place and since I arrived at 11:30 pm, it was greatly appreciated. Good shower and toilet facilities. Ideal location. Only 6 blocks to the ferry and 8 blocks to the bus station.

The room was quite small with no window, there was a fan for some air, but it was too loud at night. For a couple of nights it was a good choice, I wouldn't choose it for longer.

there is no staff on the location and i rung a few times and never got any answer. it is contactless check in but if something goes wrong good luck getting ahold of anyone. Some rooms also do not have windows or ventilation so feel a little claustrophobic but other wise the rooms are very good for the coast.
the location was really good, close to the main train station and a very handy 24 hours bar no more than 5 minuets way. will definitely be back again.
