Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe smell in the room, lack of floor space due to pedestal fan and air conditioner. Tiled floor area was dirty and the room had a musty odour.

New ZealandWe asked for extra towels as we were staying 2 nights and nothing got delivered. Hot water was restricted and we were never told this. 5min showers were allocated. Small hot water cylinder. That’s not long enough for a woman who wants to go out nice for the night. Shave, shampoo conditioner ect. Really poor quality hotel actually
Easy to walk to town/the water front for the concert.

New ZealandMain areas seemed clean enough but less visible areas were gross, food between the couch cushions, stuff down bedroom walls, heaps of dust behind the beside tables (that you have to move to plug anything into the plugs). Cosmetic damage to the bench and mirror. Main areas smelt of cooking constantly. The pool advertised is in another building which is a membership based gym and closes super early, specially through the weekend, it was one of the main reasons for booking there and then we weren't able to actually go into it. Parking is a pain to get to and our parking spot had a large pillar in front of it which made difficult to get into it with my medium sized car. Balcony was large but there was no furniture or anything on it so a wasted space really, plus the one bedroom apartment is on the first floor so not much point having a balcony. Bathroom fan incredibly loud, plus the door stop is raised from the ground seemingly in the middle of the walk space which causes a trip hazard. Toilet paper is on the back wall next to the toilet so if you have any back/shoulder/neck issues there is no chance of you getting to it. Air conditioning unit in room was set to a cool temp that wasn't able to be changed so it was cold or it it was off. I know a lot is minor issues but all added up it did make the stay pretty disappointing, wouldn't recommend
Good location. Kitchen had everything you'd need if you wanted to cook your own meals. Good shower pressure.

AustraliaA bomb would improve the property. The standard of accommadtion is well below what I expect of Quest standard. The corridor smells bad, and dated. The room is miniscule. You don't even have space to open your suit case. The room heater and bedside lamp is attached to a POWER BOARD (is this legal ?), under the bed. Washing machine tempermental. I have only advice to other travellers. Keep Away. There are a couple of good hotels across the street. Of the 4 Quest Apts that we stayed in Auck, Nelson, Wellington and ChCh. this is the worst one. I have every intention of publishing this in the Trave ladvisor. I did not meet or see anyone in reception

New ZealandThere was a very bad smell in our room (fishy wet smell), which obviously the staff knew about, as there was an ionising machine and air con going when we arrived in the room, the cleaner also offered us air freshener when she came back to collect the machine. This smell was there every time we returned to the room. When we reported it the receptionist she just said “she was sorry about that”.
Location was good

New ZealandThe room looked like a junk room. A freestanding air con unit was hidden between the couch and the window. A freestanding cupboard blocked the window at one end. The bed was jammed up by the door. This was not an apartment I've had rooms in the James Cook and that were bigger, better appointed, more modern, and weren't filled up with freestanding air cons and wardrobes. So disappointed. We paid over the top. Rooms were advertised $40 cheaper for that night but we had paid in advance. I thought the location was close to the railway station. That's the reason we chose you over the James Cook. Imagine our disappointment when we were just over the road, paying top dollar for something not nearly as nice.

New ZealandRoom very small and run down - putting the charge up to $310 a night is way to high for the quality of the room. Room needs maintainance. The carrier air conditioning floor unit is a nightmare - it’s very loud making it difficult to sleep. The Quest Atrium owners really need to put a heatpump into the rooms. Very disappointing 2 night stay - I stay in a number of Quest accommodation places around NZ and this is the worst I have stayed at. Understand the past few years have been tough for the accommodation sector but rooms need to be up to standard, fairly priced and provide a good night sleep for the people staying.
Location is very good - that’s the only positive
