    Lovely refurbished boutique accommodation.

    • Triple Room
    • Stayed 2 nights

Unfortunately checkin did not go smoothly. We had booked 2 rooms to accomodate our group of 2 couples. Only 1 of the rooms was allocated at checkin. This was later resolved but we paid more than what was quoted on the booking.com platform with the overall confusion of treying to find the other room (booked under the same name and booking number). So we are still trying to resolve that issue. Another issue however occured during our stay (on the day of our checkout)- The second couple were woken at 6am to water leaking through the ceiling from the floor above onto their bed. They called the after hours number but as the office didnt open until after 8am and the room eventually inspected, there was nothing that could be done. We were so excited to be staying at The Convent Hotel for our daughters wedding but overall this boutique accommodation did not meet our expectations.

Great location not far from cafes and shops. Loved the decorating in the rooms. One of our rooms was changed and upgraded as there was an issue with a leaking shower that needed maintenance. We were very grateful for the upgrade as we got to experience truely what the Convent had to offer - a room with a balcony, a small kitchenette, and a larger space for our group of 2 couples to get together.

Second stay for us and it was better than the first ( and that was exceptional) Considered fit out of rooms that showcase the buildings original character while maintaining the sense of effortless luxe. ADA restaurant was the cherry on top !!! amazing dinner 💛 The convent hotel is our go to for an Auckland stay - make it yours

The hotel is a bit off the beaten track, so there weren’t as many dining options within walking distance compared to the CBD. While there is a restaurant on-site, it was closed during our stay. We chose The Convent Hotel for its proximity to Mt. Eden, which we walked to the next day. One thing to note—there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage upstairs.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the hotel’s unique decor, which paid homage to its religious roots with an added playful, artistic touch. The staff was polite and welcoming, and we appreciated that they accommodated our request for a later check-out. Overall, a memorable and enjoyable experience!

Local cafes are not that local, I think in time it will come.

I loved the building, and the small bit of the history of the building I could get from people. I'd loved to have had more info on the history, perhaps a brochure or book. Loved the decor, it was very well put together, great little bar, great restaurant and staff.

We were given a room on the ground floor right by the main front door, which meant that we could hear the comings and goings of guests, both from opening and closing the front door and talking in the echoey corridor. For the price we paid, I was not expecting this. For the price and the elevated nature of this hotel, I would have liked the option of breakfast too.

Convenient location, clean and comfortable rooms, beautiful hotel, very welcoming and friendly staff. Close enough to walk to Ponsonby area (25mins) which has great food and shopping spots.

The room was on the small side for us with two large suitcases and two carry on's. The area around the a/c vent was a little dirty.

It is a lovely place. Bed was really comfortable and cozy. Temperature was fine for us but there's no thermostat in the room. The room was quiet even though our room (no 14) was next to the stairs. The restaurant was amazing (we lucked out it seems and walked in on our first night..9pm ish). The food was up there with some of the best we've ever eaten, that was the general consensus of the four of us. That included an retired chef and two that have dined in 1 & 2 Michelin starred establishments. Auckland is laid back and cool imo.

Not much room to get around the bed was about the only issue we had, and the weather was super hot so we could have done with a fan due to the rooms being centrally controlled. Other than that, it was too cool for words.

What an incredible location - visually, thematically and proximity to Ponsonby and central Auckland. Stunning artwork and the little details were extra special. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Such a pleasant vibe.
