Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCharming! The hostess made me feel so very welcome and was wonderful about checking in to make sure I had everything I needed; so kind and caring. The house and the tiny cabins on the property are lovely, private, very cozy, and filled with fun little treasures sprinkled throughout. I loved the a la carte breakfast setup! It was such a fun patio kitchenette for all the guests to gather and share their travel stories of this incredible country. The property is very close to Abel Tasman National Park. I recommend renting an e-bike and riding the Great Taste Trail in either direction. My only complaint is that I spent more time relaxing at the property than doing all the sightseeing I planned. There are just so many lovely little vignettes around the property, which is surrounded by gorgeous landscaping, and oh, there’s even a she-shed …bring a good book, just in case you want to do the same :o))

United Stateseverything was very nice
Charming BnB right in the heart of things. Tucked away in a quiet location on a larger property. Very nice owner and host. Includes a nice breakfast in the AM. I stayed in a cottage with shared bath and it was clean and easy. Only shared with one other unit, so always had toilet and shower as needed. 20 minutes by car to Kaiteriteri, so good base location for the park and other activities in the area. Highly recommended!

Leigh was a fabulous hostess, making us very welcome and fitting in with all our requests without a hitch. Our Cozy Suite was large and very comfortable as was the bed. The ensuite was fine with a relatively new fit-out. The location of the B & B was perfect for our needs and the home itself was large and comfortable as were the outside decks and facilities. All in all this was the bet B & B we have stayed at and we have stayed at quite a few.

AustraliaNothing it was heavenly.
A home away from home. The boat shed cabin was cosy. We all loved the gardens and the outdoor kitchen and dining area. The boys loved the stream and watching the eels. 2 days and we didn't want to leave.

United StatesNothing! Truly wish we could have stayed here for several more days!
Only booked here for one night as a fairly last minute change of plans and truly wish I could have stayed for a few days! The BnB is super cute, easy access to Abel Tasman, feels very isolated in a well maintained garden, the host (Leigh) was exceedingly welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was a nice spread of toast with marmalade or marmite, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, some fresh fruit, yogurt, juices milk and coffee.

United StatesThe sink in the bathroom was a bit small and the towels a bit rough, but these are minor things easily overlooked in the unique space that is fun and not like your average motel room.
Stayed in the house with a small ensuite bathroom. The photos are accurate. We really enjoyed the whimsical decorations, beautiful garden setting, very quiet location yet close proximity to town (walked in for dinner each night). We also liked the reasonable variety of cereal, yogurt and fruit and good coffee for breakfast and the porch eating space.

Plenty of birds singing to wake up to. Comfortable beds, fabulous indoor and outdoor shower. Fabulous location, walking distance to town centre. Overall we (6 adults) really enjoyed our 2 night stay. United StatesA few more knickknacks around than I would have preferred. Worried I would break something and limited space a bit for personal items. More heat/warmth in the breakfast area:).
The location was very central to all of our plans. It was quiet; beautifully landscaped in a lovely private space; bed was comfortable; room had space to sit and relax. Small bathroom and wonderfully laid out for all our needs. Leigh was delightful and so accommodating to all of our requests and conversation. Lots of options for different types of travelers. Very unique space and wonderful host.

We loved the fresh air, the fresh, homey but very clean feel of the cabin, the private terrace, the bathroom and shared outdoor areas. Leigh is lovely and accommodating. We even made friends with the eels in the brook. Breakfast was relaxed, fresh and had everything we needed.
