When we arrived as a group check in was slow and one person on reception was not very pleasant..the other person was...of course they needed passports so a long check in orocess

As it was a hostel, we had to walk to the shared bathroom that's a distance away from our room. However, this is was within expectations and no complaints really.

The kitchen was really well equipped and the room bed was comfortable.

When I stayed there, there was a biggest tour group of 18 year olds. They were extremely loud and rude. I know their behaviour is not in control by Haka House but letting guests know they provide accommodation to these big groups

Heavy rain caused a leak in the roof and some hallway flooding, but staff did a good job to contain it.

Beautifully designed, everything you need in common spaces and rooms for a comfortable stay like games, fireside blankets, kitchen items etc, thoughtful showers with hooks and a bench, lovely sauna was a bonus!

Nothing springs to mind except the awful wet weather but can’t blame Haka House for that.

Excellent location to stay for a few days while exploring Franz Josef. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent Kitchen and dining facilities with space to chill out. Even tried out the Pool table and table football.

Water pressure could've been a bit better in the showers but it wasn't that bad.

Beds were great as they were a good size and had a proper curtain you could pull all the way across for privacy.

People could be heard easily in the corridor, but this was okay for one night.

The accommodation we're very flexible with our arrival time and checking out. This was a one night stopover on our way from Queenstown to Kaikora. It looked like it had a lovely shared lounge and cooking facilities, but we had no need to use these. The rooms were spacious and clean and we had an onsuite bathroom.

Couldn’t get my laptop connected to the wifi, the landing page where you can enter your room number and phone number only pops up on cell phone.

Super quiet location at the end of the road near forest area, yet still conveniently close to intercity bus stop. Inviting hangout areas. Big kitchen. One of my favorite Haka Houses so far!

Not really effecting my stay but water came up from the hallway floor during heavy showers. Like many of the hostels I've slept so far guest are really unable and unwilling to keep common areas clean so kitchen was a mess most of the time. Not Haka staff fault of course. Rooms overpriced but again, that seems the standard in NZ.

The facilities are new and my room was extremely tidy and clean. Bed comfy and fridge and kattle provided. Shower had a good pressure and great water temperature. Franz Josef is a small town and all the accomodation are pretty close to each other. Pool table in the common area and WiFi strong and stable.

Cleanliness was an issue, with what looked like a midge apocalypse in the bathroom and one of the corridors suffering a major leak. AC was non-functional, so got a bit humid.

Had one of the ensuite rooms and it was spacious and the shower was great. Kitchen was well-stocked and easy to navigate, with a bit of helpful cooperation with other guests. Location was ideal.

Sound insulation could be better but as long as everyone respects the 10:30pm quiet time, it is ok - this did not happen on our first night.

Booked a room with en suite, which was fine. Most rooms use shared bathroom. Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of fridge space for individual’s food.

Kitchen many appliances not working (stoves) Door banging during night. Limited room on one side of Queen bed to get in and out (ensuite room 2)

Not enough place for storage of dry food in shelves, people had to keep their food on the floor. In showers just one small hook for clothes.

Curtains in bed. Pleasant common area with free table footbal and billard. Hair dryer avaiable in ladies bathroom. Very good localisation, close to restaurants. Parking next to building.

We were unable to stay in our room because of recent rain damage. We were moved next door to The Chalet. Haka House communicated well and the booking was seamless. Thank You

The doors are fire doors, so bang, annoying at night. Some guests leave their bathroom fans running, which can be heard through the walls. The reception kindly switched off the neighbouring fans for us.

The location for everything you need in Franz Josef. Recently refurbished nicely. Our twin ensuite room faced the rain forest. Large kitchen, dining, lounge area, and garden.
