Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeautiful setting with lovely views. The place is spotlessly clean and very comfortable, but the best thing about Agartha is the host, Carlos, who couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

I had such a wonderful experience staying at this hostel! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and well-organized everything was. The rooms were spotless, the common areas were tidy, and it was clear that the staff took great pride in maintaining the space. Speaking of the staff, they were absolutely amazing—so friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with any questions or recommendations. The location was perfect too—quiet, peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle, yet still close enough to everything I needed. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, and I will definitely be back next time! Highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

CanadaWe had a fantastic stay at the Agartha Mountain Retreat with Carlos and Mavel! The facility is set up so that guests have a chance to really interact and share experiences. Carlos is very helpful and brings a warmth and sense of community to everyone that stays there. He also has a fantastic vinyl selection! Mavel is very kind and takes care to make sure that everyone has what they need. The retreat is on the mountainside so the views of the surrounding area are stunning. It is easily reached by the local bus which passes by at least every 30 minutes and costs 75 cents to get to and from the town.

United KingdomThe location is a little far from town albeit only 3.3km so nothing for the strong 19 - 38 year old back packer, traveler. My tent accommodation albeit "exceptional and fun" at the same time was a little expensive in comparison to other opinions the previous day. Although in the defense of Agatha mountain retreat there wasn't nothing available. Disclaimer: This is travel and we ALL adjust to the situation in hand . So the secret, the way to mitigate spending more cash is simple - Book in advance 😁👌🏼
I booked the tent for one night and it was extremely clean and cozy at the same time. - Listening to the rain sent me to sleep in no time ... However it was raining heavily when I arrived and NOT one taxi would pick me up "The white Gringo" however, the owner was kind enough to send a friend/taxi etc to collect - WoW! How great is that ? Everything is accessible and clean in so many ways you actually think you're at home. I will 100.1% come back ⭐⭐⭐⭐👌🏼

I absolutely love returning to this hostel! The location is so tranquil, beautiful settings, and accessibility to great nature excursions. Carlos and the staff are so very gracious and accommodating, it feels like a home away from home. I always stay in the giant tents and love that they have real and comfy mattresses to sleep on. Highly recommend this mountain sanctuary!!

NetherlandsCarlos is the best, such a nice guy and always willing to help out. I loved the movie nights with other guests and Carlos. The hike to El Pianista is close by (walking) and a bus to town (or other hiking spots, waterfalls etc) stops frequently close by. You will wake up in the middle of nature with singing birds, I loved this place.

United KingdomIt felt like there were too many people for the space - one night the dorms were full, all the tents were full and there were two additional tents. This meant that there were about 24 people for just two toilets / showers and a small kitchen. Bathroom could be cleaner but that was probably due to the amount of people staying.
The tent was very comfortable and a good size, there were proper mattresses and pillows and we were under the porch so we stayed dry. Carlos is a great host, always available for help and advice and not afraid to deal with any problems that arise.

Agartha was one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at! The hosts, Carlos and Marbel, are incredibly kind and welcoming. The first night that I arrived Carlos immediately invited me to come to the local fair with him and the rest of the hostel, making me feel included in everything and making it super easy to make friends right away. It was clear that he really cared about the guests' experiences, always helping arrange tours or shuttles for us when needed and asking about how we're doing. The house and yard is always super clean (thanks to Marbel) and it felt more like staying inside a family member's house than a hostel. The camping was great and the tents are spacious and private with very comfortable beds. The views from the hostel are also really beautiful. I would definitely come back here just for the environment and the people at this hostel alone.

United StatesBeautiful setting, nice cool weather. The host is great, and eager to make sure everyone is comfortable. The kitchen is easy to use, the two shared rooms are a nice size, with good space between beds. The beds are soft, sheets are clean, and the shower is hot. The patio is very inviting, with super comfortable chairs and couches to sit out on and watch the sun go down.

United KingdomThe hostel is a brisk 30 minutes walk from downtown Boquete which I was aware of. There is a bus that drops you off right on road outside. A taxi to the hostel cost me 4 dollars from the bus stop, I only needed to pay this once as was able to walk this distance once I knew where to go.
The terrace is nestled beneath some large eucalyptus trees and gives off a beautiful scent especially in the evening. I spotted several hummingbirds feeding off plants in the garden. The hostel is located at the end of a road making it a very tranquil place to relax. There are hot showers which are great for after going on hikes on nearby trails. Amir and Mabel are very kind, helpful and knowledgable about Boquete. I’m glad I decided to stay here as opposed to one in town. I will be back to visit next time I find myself in Panama.

AustraliaFeels like a cosy homestay, we were basically the only guests during low season for 5 nights and were made to feel extremely welcome the entire time. It's out of town but I'd argue that's a good thing (close to pianista and piedra lino trails) as boquete town can sometimes feel like forested Florida (retired Americans everywhere). Kitchen is well stocked and shower is great.
