Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandVery cluttered spaces, most appliances were broken or in repair, kitchen was virtually unusable and very oddly organised. Lovely animals but so so many for such a small place, cats walking all over kitchen worktops and tables and chairs. It felt more like staying at someone's house than a hostel.
Staff were lovely, nice and close to bus terminal. Lovely homely and welcoming feeling.

AustraliaThe owner was very friendly and very helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There is a bathroom attached to the dorm. Private rooms can either also use that bathroom or go to the back covered verandah. You have to like having a dog's and cats around the house. I didn't find them a problem. You can walk to town 10 - 15m or taxi $2. It is a good economical overnighter.

BelgiumThe room was very very hot, even with 2 fans it was too hot for me to have a proper sleep.
When I entered the hostel I was welcomed by the host and the cute kittens <3 There are a nice amount of animals in this hostel, which I LOVE! But wouldn't recommend for anyone that has allergy. Although the pets are being kept out of the rooms. It's a very basic hostel, it was good for one night.

United KingdomNot a problem for me, but you must like animals as they are everywhere (the owner does state this). Rooms were very hot even with fans on and windows open, in part, from having to keep doors shut to keep animals out.
Nice spot not far from the bus terminal for a nights stay in David. Owner was helpful with recommendations. Reasonable facilities to cook in.

United StatesI arrived on the 4th day of Carnaval, consequently many stores and restaurants were still closed. I finally found an open restaurant, after taking a long walk to get to it. The kitchen lacked bread knives. I had to butter my toast using a small serrated cutting knife.
The hotel is in a residential neighborhood in David. The area is quiet. The owner provides guest with either paid laundry service or free plastic containers and a sink with 2 basins where you can manually wash your clothes for free. I brought my own laundry detergent so I saved on having to pay for laundry washing. The owner has several clothes lines to dry your laundered items. The owner was pleasant but not as friendly as I have experienced at many other hostels in Panama.

United StatesThere were way too many people staying here including about 15 Haitian refugees sleeping in the hammocks and on foam pads in the kitchen, hallway, etc. So, bathrooms are overcrowded. The woman who runs this house is very nice but frazzled. She needs a full time assistant
The dorms were fine. Comfortable beds. Fans.

United StatesI didn't mind the dogs or cats at the hostel, they were generally well-behaved. But, when I went to bed I was eaten by bugs. Based on experience, I don't believe that these were mosquitos, bed bugs, or chiggers but likely fleas, with flat red itchy welts that should disappear in five days. Had to take some Benadryl in the morning to mitigate the itching.
Good location, short walk from the bus station. Host was helpful, especially with advice to coordinate onward bus travel to Costa Rica (Tracopa). Didn't use the kitchen, except to make coffee in the morning. Tap water is potable. Clean sheets on the bed. There were fans in the bedroom to mitigate the heat and humidity.

PanamaThe kitchen was a bit lackluster and seemed to have many broken appliances. While I knew that the hostel allowed pets I did not realize that the owner herself owned a significant number of pets. My allergies were a bit through the roof the first night because of this lack of communication. Additionally the bathrooms were something to be desired. In my room the sink was broken and we were not allowed to put toilet paper into the toilet. There was also no hot water (although that would not stop me from staying here again). The price when compared to other hostels is a bit high considering it was $12/night whereas other hostels are $12 for both nights I would stay. Finally, the location was something to be desired. Since there are very few ubers in David we had to walk each time we wanted to go to the city which was at least 10 minutes away. Could be great for people looking to relax, but I was looking for adventures and good times.
The host Jose was so hospitable. Additionally, it was a nice hostel, a bit small, but very nice. There were hammocks to hang out in a covered space since we were there during the rainy season.
