Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt was very clean, safe, beautiful, wonderfully laid out and designed. We wound up staying here more days than planned because the Panamerican highway was closed. Initially we stayed in one of the apartment rooms with an incredible indoor/outdoor bathroom. When we realized we’d be staying for longer we moved over to the palatial villa for even more room. Despite the interruption of our trip, we really felt at home at the Show Pony. Everything was so comfortable and we had the perfect amount of privacy yet when we wanted to socialize we went out to the pool or restaurant/bar. Food and drinks were always delicious - great large portions with lots of fruits, salads and veggies too. The beach is just across the road down a path on Show Pony’s property and it is really one of the prettiest beaches I’ve been to in Panama. Very clean, long and unspoiled. The resort has set up shade, loungers, tables, hammocks and a volleyball court there so it was pretty idyllic. The owners were always available to answer questions and the staff they have assembled there is a wonderful team. Victor, Cesar, Fidel and Angel were friends from the moment we arrived and were so helpful and kind at every point. It was lovely to feel so well taken care of and we have incredible memories. My daughters reminisce about show pony every day still so we’ll be back for sure one of these days!

United StatesSo disappointed in the bar service. We knew the food service closed ‘early’ but when we went to order more drinks from the bar we were informed that it was closed. Was so surprised bc the bartender remained at the bar for a significant amount of time after “closing” just sitting and watching people. He could have easily made more money for the resort by just serving….and the time wasn’t unreasonable…8:30! Just disappointed after I had bragged to our friends about the great hospitality.
My family and I stayed at Show Pony previously so when our friends were visiting us from Texas, we wanted to share some of our Panamanian paradise. The rooms were perfect as was the pool. The food was great!!!

United StatesThe only thing that I did not like were the American guests that complain about petty things as most Americans do. If I'm on vacation, I don't want to hear that crap. Enjoy the surroundings and be HAPPY! Btw, I'm an American.
We showed up spontaneously and in a downpour of a passing rain storm. All employees scrambled to get us in out of the rain immediately and raced to get our room ready as like I said, it was REAL short notice. The best part of all was when we were scrambling to get to our room in the rain with all the employees in tow with our bags and such, Isaac, the main man of the resort hilariously said with his wonderful and welcoming character as the lightning and thunder were crackling across the sky, he says excitingly, "Welcome to the Show Pony!" It just made me smile and laugh and I new that we were going to enjoy our time there. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to stay another night. The same room was booked by another party for the next night so they moved us to an even MORE AMAZING room for an excellent price. The facilities around the resort are fulfilling with lots to see and do right there on the property. You don't need to leave for anything. They have it all right there. We will return to the Show Pony!

United StatesThe road to the resort was a bit difficult to handle. I was informed of the situation, though. Mosquitoes made the evening visit to the beach unbearable. I suggest the staff provide ways of repealing them if visitors are present.
The staff, and especially Issac, was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Good access to the beach.

GermanyThe resort is right next to the mangroves, so during certain times of the day small stinging flies are around (only outside, not in the rooms). Insect spray is provided by the hotel, though.
We had a big room facing the pool with own terrace, hammock and outside bathroom. The hotel provides various games, which is really a great service and generates a lot of fun within the group. The ocean is warm and the waves are perfect for body-surfing.

United StatesThe wifi sucks. I couldn't stream anything because of the constant fluctuation of the signal, even my laptop was having a hard time connecting. Unless you plan to watch the cable they have...hope you speak Spanish...you'd better load some viewing material on a USB drive or something. I couldn't even get my VPN to connect, much less watch anything. Many times the signal dropped out completely. The first villa we were assigned (Unit 1A) was a dump...furniture is all beat up, and as previously mentioned, the a/c barely worked. The second villa was much better, but the couch in there has seen better days for sure...very uncomfortable.
The bed was very comfortable in the villa we had. Kitchen facilities were great. The unit itself is outstanding, with your own poolside patio. Also, the "back door" to the villas is an awesome idea. You park your car right behind the unit, then load in from there. Perfect! Access to the beach was great too...a 5 minute walk and you're there. Lots of lounge chairs, swings etc for sitting. We didn't go to the beach at night, but there were lights all over the place and a firepit. The first unit we were assigned to was having air conditioning issues, but after being unable to fix it on the spot, we asked for another villa. They moved us without hesitation, so the customer service response was great. Not sure what would have happened if there were no other rooms available though. I should mention that the staff was GREAT! Most of our interactions were with Jose and Antonio, and those guys were awesome! Food was good and the room was clean.

United StatesThey did not clean our room, not sure if this was because there were no extra keys and/or we had to request that they clean the room. Also, as we have stayed here before, I felt that service was not as good as it had been in the past. However, it is still a nice place to stay.
The beach is just wonderful, and they have bohios were we can sit in the shade and enjoy the beach and overall relax. The food was decent.

United StatesPower went down twice; once for "routine maintenance" for over 5 hrs., a second time after thunderstorm for several hours. The microwave didn't work at first, and was replaced. The toilet had a problem, and flushed about half the time. I think staff said a repair part was necessary. Due to power problems, I was never able to take a hot shower -- only barely luke warm, and I had to eat my own food cold twice. Staff was very friendly and helpful, but there were a lot of functional problems. The interior of rooms are very spartan and seem designed by a Soviet gulag engineer -- a lot of concrete, grey and white, not very aesthetic. Interiors definitely need a woman's touch.
The beach is great, and the on-site restaurant food was great, although there were are other options if you didn't arrive by ca -- the town of Las Lajas is too far away. Swimming pool, on-site food and friendly staff great.

United StatesThe access road is still awful although I have seen it in worse condition during the wet season. The rooms are shabby, uncomfortable and some appliances do not work. The concrete furniture is really unattractive and uncomfortable. Wi-Fi works sometimes. Mosquitoes were vicious after dark. Prices in hotel and restaurant are excessive and tips are solicited everywhere.
The beach was clean, beautiful and uncrowded. As for the hotel, the best I can say is that it wasn't as noisy as it used to be.

PanamaThat I have to consume from the bar if I’m in the pool area and can’t drink from my own groceries. I would understand it if I wasn’t staying for the night but that wasn’t the case. Also the penthouse was really nice, the only issue was the wifi in the room and parts of the balcony because it was really bad and low, and since up there I had no service, basically I was most of the time without communication and I had to be going downstairs when I wanted to use the wifi
The pool area was nice, also the staff itself was really good. Very clean and not much to worry about the property itself

United StatesThe sink was cracked and falling off the wall. The bedroom sliding door was cracked throughout. The toilet was not clean under the rim and around the floor. There were spider webs between the bathroom sink mirror and the light fixture. We would wake up with geco poop on our pillows and had a spider in bed for company. Couldn't locate the cleaning crew to request fresh towels.
It was quiet and private. Easy to get to from home. Short walk to the beach. Was able to use the kitchen to warm up meals.
