How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

It is the Rainy season in Panama City and therefor the mosquitoes are around and a little annoying at times.
A very nice pool to relax in the hot Panama days. The aircon in the dorm is set to a very comfortable level and the beds are spacious and comfortable. Tif is a great hostess and a superstar at running the hostel. I am now a long-term visitor.

Awesome hostel if you want to social but not party. It’s a great hostel for solo travellers. The staff was so friendly and helped me a lot when planning my trip. Also the common area is great to meet people - we love staying there to chat . Everyone I met there was so friendly and interesting.

The place is not as shown in the pictures and doesn't feel clean. This hostal says the breakfast is included but doesn't mentioned that it only includes pancakes and coffee and that you must make the pancakes yourself. Also, it doesn't have a nice ambiance in general.

A couldn't care less attitude by the staff.Room was dirty, shower was third world! Place was dilapidated and needed a serious makeover and deep cleaning.

Room hadn't been cleaned properly. Very basic. Kitchen had Chipped plates, mugs etc. Rough is how I would describe it. Everything was dilapidated. Staff didn't seem to have and customer care experience. You get for you pay for rings true. Therefore, it was overpriced.

The bathroom is not very clean , mosquito are everywhere, making hard to enjoy sitting outside or staying in the pool

The hostel didn’t receive our booking?! They checked us in but the next day another member of staff told us they couldn’t find us on the system. They wouldn’t give us a code for the door for that reason. Then, at the end of the day, another member of staff that was cleaning and making the beds, removed our things from them because “we weren’t on the system” and when we arrived our things that we left on the bed were gone. He gave them back to us. Explained why but didn’t apologise. There’s a message on the reception to text the WhatsApp number if we have any issues or questions (as in “there’s always someone to help”) but our message remained unanswered. The toilets are not cleaned very often. In the morning there’s only one member of staff in the reception who also makes breakfast. Several guests were offered extra pancakes (they normally only give two per person) for problems with their stay.
The common area is nice and comfortable. Beds are also comfortable and there’s air conditioning during the night.

The code for room is too long to remember. We had bad conection to wifi in our room.
Very nice hostel, simple breakfast included, comfortable bed, nice staff, close to metro station.

Too much beds in room, you literally cant move around, not saying theres no space to put a bag, not even for 7 persons. They put a bed in the middle of the room that is 10 square meters and already have 6 beds. There is no place to hang your washed clothes, except one place next to the tree where you cant fit 5 things. Toilette doors are handmade in 5min. You can also see people showering naked going on the toilette on 1st floor since door are not high. No hooks to hang clothes there. Pillows and matress in common area needs a good wash

-generaly not very clean -neither rooms nor bathrooms -very small shared rooms, with lots of bunk beds (even three bunks), no space for luggage and no privacy (curtains or so) -extremaly poor breakfast (two pancakes with syrup and coffee)

The pool had no steps to get in or out meaning it was useless to me. The woman on breakfast duties completely ignored me then when another guest asked her about breakfast she seemed like we were interrupting her.
The receptionist when I arrived was lovely. Did all she could to welcome me and have me feel at home.

The dining table clothes , the public area, there is no fans in the dorms and it close the air conditioning at 7am and then you might have no fresh air in the dorm, there is no hairdryer as well.
Well I would say they have to do some cleaning on their public facility like the dining tables clothes it’s so smelly

Sure why this hostel has such a high rating on booking.com?? It was hot, uncomfortable, my room looked like they had just thrown a cot with a 20 year old bedsheet on it, bathroom was dirty and gross. The whole building is in need of major renovations. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra money on a nicer place. Panama has plenty of better options.
