Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe beds weren't the comfiest, and sometimes the water in the shower wouldn't get hot. I wish there were a full-length mirror in the room, but one was outside our room on the terrace.
The location was safe and close to central Lima. The staff was friendly and helpful; someone was always at the front desk to answer the door. The hotel is charming and has lots of beautiful artwork around the interior.

United KingdomThere are a lot of stairs to many of the rooms. Five floors in all.. I saw some people struggling to carry heavy luggage up. If this is you, request a room on the second floor.
Good basic rooms in a colonial style house. Perfect location if visiting the historic centre. Female staff very helpful and welcoming. I returned here later in my stay as I had previously liked.

ItalyI picked the most simple room and unfortunately it didn't have a window, so it felt a bit claustrophobic with the summer heat. If I'd have known i would have payed a little more just to get a bigger and nicer one.But unfortunately there are not many pictures on the page, and the few ones just show big and beautiful rooms.
The hotel is in the heart of the city, 5 min walking to Plaza Mayor. It's very beautiful and the staff is just so nice and polite!

United StatesNo AC in the room made it uncomfortable to sleep during the month of March.
The architecture and art were really amazing. The view of the nearby church was gorgeous. Close to a lot of tourist attractions. Staff helped me coordinate transport and held onto items I forgot until I could pick up a few days later.

United KingdomThe only thing is that they don't have a bar or restaurant, so you have to have your own water. The rooms are quite basic, but I was prepared for that, so not really a negative. One of the receptionists spoke English, which was very helpful to me.
The location is absolutely amazing. The roof terrace overlooks one of the most exuberant cathedrals and it's just such a treat. The interior, with all the statues and paintings is also sublime. I am completely in love with that.

Czech RepublicI don’t know why this hotel’s called ‘Casa Lima’ when google maps can only find it by the name ‘Hotel España’. You have to ring a bell each time you get it. If you didn’t save their number or don’t have data upon arrival, it’d be impossible to reach them or find them. This part of the city is not the best, it seemed a little dodgy at night, and super super loud with hooting cars during the day.
The building itself is gorgeous. The terrace has a lot of relaxing space, flowers and breeze. Prepare for a lot of stairs. My room was hot but with the borrowed fan it was pleasant.

CanadaThere was no breakfast included, no coffee, no access to a kitchen. Double bed was small and old. It's an old house so sounds travels. It wasn't quiet.
The house is gorgeous, as the owner said, a museum in itself with a long history of hosting guests. The owner/ host was helpful when we asked for something. She arranged rides for us with trusted drivers. Good shower, great hot water.

United StatesLiterally everything at this Hotel was terrible including 5% extra fee upon arrival. Dirty rooms that were small and with poor ventilation. The lack of air conditioning in the hot weather made it worse. They also don't let u eat outside food in the rooms. The room had dust falling from the ceiling.
The art around the hotel was cute

United StatesI did not like that the bed had bugs and was very dirty. The hotel rooms were super uncomfortable and the bed sheets had ants all over them, when I asked the receptionist about the ants he replied, “it is because of the humidity” which makes no sense. The customer service was poor and the hotel says it is family friendly when it is not at all, the breakfast time is ridiculous from 5:30-8:30. My kids would not be able to wake up the next day if we came back from a long day out. Also when my mother in law asked for water they denied her any saying they didn’t have any. We also asked for a fan because there is no AC or ceiling fans and they gave me a fan without a base which had to lean on a wall to stay up. The fan later stopped working and the worker asked me, “what did you do to it” when the fan was basically partially broken. The towels provided were super ruff and old and there was no place to hang towels. To add onto the ants the bed mattress was super thin and uncomfortable. The hotel looked colonial, don’t get me wrong, but one thing is making it look colonial and having the hotel look old, beat up, and not cared for.
The only thing I like about the hotel was the location because it is very close to the historical locations in Lima. I also liked the colonial theme the hotel had and the terrace was sort of nice.
