Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe check is at 3pm and I asked the property a week in advance if I could access the apartment sooner since I was coming from 5 days at the Amazon and my only purpose for booking the place was to rest before my flight back home. They told me I had to pay $30 to check in from 12pm. I didn’t want to pay more than I already did and I insisted that I was only asking to access the apartment in case it was ready before 3pm. They told me the apartment was empty the day before my booking but they didn’t accept my request which is very shocking… the day after they told me that even if it was empty the had to do a “deeper cleaning” of the place after a long booking. (The place is simply too small to need a “deep cleaning”) The day after they accepted to let me in a little earlier and one day after that…they changed their mind and asked me to pay the $30. It was really frustrating and exhausting to deal with them, changing their mind all the time when all I was asking is being able to rest in a place that was empty before my arrival and for which I had paid $70. The night before my check in I happened to get extremely sick from soroche and asked them to let me in. They finally accepted saying that “it was an expectation, out of courtesy”. The cherry on the top was that the day after, at 11am I clock, a cleaning man show up to clean the apartment. I was all ready to leave the minute after but they really don’t let you be one minute late in your check out but they don’t want to let you before 3pm even if the place is empty. If they don’t want to make their customers happy they really succeeded. I wouldn’t stay at any of their places again just to avoid having to deal with such bad customer service.
It was comfortable, very clean and its located in a good neighbourhood.

GermanyI was bombarded with numerous emails beforehand. I had to register online using my passport and even provide a live photo, but upon arrival, the door security still wanted to take a photo of my passport- although I the company claims to protect the privacy of its customers. This is a very poor handling of data. The pool is tiny- measuring max 2m x 3m. The apartment deserves barely 3 stars, certainly not 4. It's a shame considering the stress and the difficulty in obtaining relief from the heat.
Unfortunately, a very DISAPPOINTING stay. I cannot say anything positive about it. EXTREMLY NOISY: heavy big street traffic and construction site right outside the door. NO AIR CONDITIONING. They CHARGED much MORE MONEY than what was stated on Booking. The explanation was a $25 cleaning fee.

United StatesThe apartment we stayed in did not have air-conditioning, which, during the summer months of Lima means the place gets very hot. It was very difficult to sleep in the heat, however, the apartment was also facing a major street, and so it was also impossible to leave the windows open at night to get some ‘cool’ air because of all the loud noise that was coming from outside. It was very noisy and also woke us up in the early morning to the noise of honking, construction work, and loud traffic. My husband and I ended up moving to a new hotel after one night, and also since the host did not respond, satisfactorily or quick enough, to our concerns.

AustraliaOur appartement was facing the Main Street so it was really noisy, I understand why they gave us some earplugs. A fan or aircon should be added, it can be quite hot in Lima.
The location was great. The appartement was perfect for 2 or 4 people who all gets our own bathroom and bedroom. We arrived really late it was really easy to check in.
