Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe fan did not work very well but it was ok. be aware of the barking dogs. they can be frightening but they are friendly. one in particular wants to be petted all the time.
Convenient location to explore the island, 10-15 minute bike ride to Uturoa centre (supermarkets, restaurants, ferry...). Small supermarket around the corner. Free use of bikes and kayak. Kayaking to Motu Ofetaro (beach) was amazing! Nice host, helped us with all our questions.

Czech RepublicOut of town on a quiet street. Bikes and kayaks included, which was bomb - you can cycle to the town or kayak to Motu Ofetaro. Also Orion the dog will be your best scratch buddy!

United StatesOne of the rooms has the bathroom down the hallway in the house. This was no problem for us but something to note for those who enjoy privacy.
Baptiste was an exceptional host. He was kind and thoughtful throughout our 3 night stay. The room had a nice patio where you can eat. Also a kitchen with your own fridge. The Best value were the free bikes to ride into town and the kayaks to the motu. We were very happy hanging at the motu on the beautiful beach with the local cat and snorkeling. We saw many sting rays and sharks (for free!) We were also able to leave our bags after checkout.

New ZealandThere was nothing to dislike.
We stayed two nights. We found the place to be nicer than it looks on the photos online - we had more privacy than the photos suggested. The host Baptiste was very nice, welcoming and helpful, and the breakfasts were really great. We also had two good dinners - one from a restaurant across the road, and one from a dial-up company that delivers the meals in real bowls, not plastic containers, and then they collect them the next day - what a great initiative. Happy.

New ZealandThe dogs slept in the house just behind our door. We could hear them moving around during the night.
The lodge is 3 km or so from the town center but easily accessible with the bikes available for free to customers. The small island where we can swim and stay on the beach is accessible with the kayaks also available for free. A kitset pool with outdoor shower and garden chairs was appreciated after a long warm day . We had chosen this lodge as it was advertised as No Pets allowed. However this rule only applies to customers and we were fronted by 2 big dogs on arrival and during the 3 days we stay there. The owner is friendly and helpful.

New ZealandThe room was really small, the ensuite bathroom was too small and divided only by a curtain, there was no carparking and no shelter. Most of this did not matter until we had to go out to get dinner in a rainstorm and got absolutely soaked getting to our car. There was another (cheaper?) room available which seemed larger and had covered access and a separate bathroom - our friend staying in that thought it was a good deal and very adequate.
This place was exceedingly cheap for Ra'iatea and Baptiste and his family were lovely, could not have been more helpful. The place was in a quiet road but handy to the coast and the town. The breakfast were amazing, probably worth staying just for these!

Czech RepublicThe owner was extremely helpful. He arranged all necessary stuff for us. He booked restaurant Villa Ixora for dinner (highly recommended), booked boat trip, car and all we wished. There are kayaks a bicycles available for free. Definitely recommended to paddle on the kayaks to the close motu where there was a beautiful beach. The owner has two nice big dogs who are running around and are very friendly also to the guests. Thanks for all that care.

United StatesIt would be nice to have a basic toiletries such as shampoo/conditioner, etc.
The location was great, not that far from the town/city center. The owner provided a free bike which we used to go out for breakfast. Felt safe. The location was easy to find.

CanadaNothing everything was great.
Baptiste and his mother were amazing hosts we felt right at home right away. Their home is so clean and beautiful setting. It was so relaxing and we had a later pick up and rhey let us stay to lounge around for the day. Very nice. There was a great market only a few minutes away to pick up some groceries and a fabulous gourmet restaurant also within walking distance. But most of all they are really really great hosts. Right from the start of booking Baptiste helped me with questions about evrry little thing i was worried about for our stay on the island and our connections. He arranged our airport transfer and our transfer to our next destination. It was first class service.

United StatesThe lack of privacy. Host and other guests come and go.
No breakfast. No coffee. No ice. Unfriendly host. Advertised a pool, NO POOL with no apology. Host promised to arrange a taxi to pick us up at the airport (with our name) and no one came. It cost $15 each way to go only 6 miles.

AustraliaNothing to say here, everything truly exceeded my expectations. If you're not a big dog person, just be warned that one of the dogs in particular is very friendly and wants to jump all over you and basically be your best friend. It was fantastic for me, but this might not be for everyone.
Think of Teavapiti Lodge as a typical Airbnb/homestay - not as the Conrad Bora Bora which a lot of sour reviews have seemingly expected. The host was incredibly helpful in making my quick trip to Raiatea a good one, not only offering great local recommendations but also organising a rental car for the day, last minute, and prearranging a taxi for my arrival into Raiatea. The room and bathroom were fantastic, clean and comfortable. You have to cross a shared hallway to reach the bathroom, but who cares? You're staying in an excellent location with a great host and some adorable dogs. Overall, great value for money and I really enjoyed my time in Raiatea. I'd love to come back and stay here again when I return to this beautiful part of the world!
