Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceAll buildings are concrete rather than timber which accumulates heat at day time and makes for pretty hot nights that the multiple fans cannot alleviate. The property being well sheltered from the wind there isn’t much air flowing through so the heat stays and mosquitoes are well at home.
Reasonably good location close to the Tiputa pass. Free bikes in decent conditions to ride to the pass, the small stores and the 2 good snacks and 1 restaurant.

SwitzerlandThe dorm room is hot in the afternoon, evening-it’s gets the afternoon sun. It is in a garden so there can be mosquitoes but bug spray can solve this.
It’s at the Tiputa end of the island. Close to the pass where the dolphins can be seen jumping. Within walking distance of two shops and 4 snack places. Free bicycles.

AustriaIt can be quite hot in the dorm, even despite the fans (as there is no A/C). I still slept quite well, though.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, they organized the transfer from/to the airport as well as an excursion for me. The daughter, Mana, also speaks very good English, and provided me with lots of useful information about the island on check-in. The dorm has only single beds (no bunks!), and is quite spacious. The outdoor area is quite large as well - and there are even some hammocks in the shade. The free bikes offered are a great way for exploring the island - just do not expect them to be in perfect condition. I had to fiddle with the chain after it came off at least once a day.

United StatesAir-conditioning would have been great, but the fans were helpful.
This property stands out for customer service. The property manager Mana is amazing. She was like a personal concierge and really made sure everything was great on our trip. She was extremely helpful solving a problem with an excursion that we booked. Her dedication and attention were unsurpassed. The accommodations are basic but perfectly fine. They are clean. The tent was was also quite comfortable. Breakfast was delicious an cooked fresh each morning.

GreeceMana and the rest of the staff are incredible! We stayed in one of the tents for three nights. The breakfast is decent, and although there was a bit of a problem with our tent we were given a very generous discount and some free refreshments, which more than made up for it. Mana also gave us detailed information about, and helped us book activities on the island. Thank you so much for the great hospitality, mauruuru!

Czech Republicit’s expensive for the condition. It’s simple bad. One old ventilator for 1 room with 4 beds. The electricity didn’t work during morning. The shuttle to the airport is for extra xpf 1500. I traveled around Tahiti and this dormitory would be for the half price.
it’s nice and simple accomodation. The staff are amazing and helpful. It’s nice that there are free bicycles. You can buy extra breakfast for xpf 2000 (bread, jam, hot drinks). There are a lot of activities and the supermarket, restaurants and boat to another island are so closed.

AustraliaThe property needs a lot of maintenance and repairs and it is overpriced for its appearance and state of disrepair. The photos do not reflect the true state of the property in any way. The bungalows are in very poor shape, there is a lot of rust everywhere which does not allow to open all the louvers of the windows because the hinges and handles are rusted all over resulting in poor ventilation and a bad smell in the bathroom despite the ceiling fans. There are also a lot of mosquitoes and no mosquito nets are provided. Some of the windows had fly screens, but the one in the kitchen had a whole so it was useless. The cooking facilities are substandard. One of the two electric plates was totally rusted, there are no cooking implements like cutting knives, chopping board, ladles, etc. We have been in French Polynesia for seven weeks, have visited 13 islands so far and all the other bungalows we rented had far superior cooking facilities and amenities and general appearance. This property was the second worst. The outside shower was fully rusted too, the decking needs revarnishing, the paint on the external walls is peeling. I wrote to the owner Cinthia the day after we arrived via Booking.com about our disappointment. She never replied.
Rosine, the housekeeper, was very nice and friendly. The Internet worked very well well.

United StatesEverything at the stay was awesome. Keep in mind you are on an atoll and there isn't much food open or available. Most of the time the grocery stores are closed as well as restaurants. So make sure you go to the grocery store and get supplies for food to be in the fridge and available when you need them.
The overall stay was amazing. It is very close to the Tiputa Pass for diving and all of the dive operations. We rode bikes to our boat. The room was very clean & comfortable. The hospitality of the operators was 15 out of 10. The hosts Anapa, Matiata and Mana are absolutely amazing. They will take care of you soooo well. You really feel the Polynesian hospitality with them.

United StatesFor an honest description of the rooms at Va'a i te Moana, go to their website. Booking.com's description of the room we booked was very misleading. It stated that there was both a garden view and an inner courtyard view. In fact, the room had only one small window overlooking the garden (and a small window in the bathroom). There is no sea breeze, so the room got very stuffy. The fans were a godsend! It claimed the room had a coffee-maker, which it didn't. It failed to mention that the 'kitchenette', (which is in the hallway outside the room), is shared with the room on the other side of the hallway, as are the terrace and patio furniture. None of this impacted the enjoyment of our stay in the end, but it was an initial shock. I shall put less trust in Booking.com's descriptions of properties in the future.
Mana and her family could not have been more welcoming. From morning till night, they were there with smiling faces to help us with our every need. They felt like family by the end of our 7-day stay. We had booked a double room with a private bathroom. The bedroom was a good size for the two of us, and the bathroom was lovely and spacious. Breakfast (included) was very good. Everything was homemade, and the pancakes were delicious. When we had early excursions, they kindly served it to us at 7:00 AM instead of 7:30 AM. Our water bottles were refilled whenever we requested it, and we requested if a lot! You can not do laundry at the guesthouse, but the laundry thet Mana recommended was wonderful. For 2,590 xpf, they washed, dried, and folded a 5 kg bag of laundry and returned it the same day. The free bikes were invaluable. One day, we cycled to Avotura via the Pearl Farm (excellent explanation in both French and English), Ikimisho Pearl Shop (highly recommended), and Chez Rua (great lagoon-side food shack). Another day, we took the bikes on the ferry to Tiputa and cycled around there. Our favorite excursion by far was DD's drift snorkeling. We ended up doing it 3 times! It was an excellent value for 6,000 xpf. We drifted down the Tiputa Pass 2 or 3 times, snorkeled in the aquarium, and got to swim with dolphins (the highlight!) The Blue Lagoon trip was good, too, but you have to pay cash if Mana books it for you. If you book it online, you can pay by credit card. We under-estimated how much cash we would need and had to bike to the ATM at the airport for more! We ate well at both Puna and Chez Lili. Cards are accepted if you spend a minimum of 2,500 xpf at Puna and 3,000 xpf at Chez Lili. Our favorite restaurant, however, was Reira Lagon, where Mana made reservations for us twice.

SpainWe couldn’t be happier with our stay. Greatly situated, at a 10 minute walk from the main restaurants and the diving center, with breakfast and wifi included. The staff speaks both English and French. The best part of it was the attention, specially from Mana. She was really nice since our arrival and helped us to plan our excursions. She made sure that we could enjoy a one-day trip to the Reef island the day our flight was departing, allowing us to take a shower after the check out. She even outdid her duties and took us to the airport some stuff we has left behind. If we ever come back to Rangiroa we’ll repeat for sure.
