Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere were mosquitos, although that is common throughout the Philippines.
We stayed in the pool villa, which was very nice. The breakfast and restaurant food was excellent, as well as the drinks. The staff was very accommodating to all our requests. They had a tuk tuk for a short ride to Alona Beach area. The hotel was in a quiet area away from the Alona Beach noise and bustle.

AustraliaSome of the facilities could have been maintained better eg. a. Hot water often failed to heat (a recurring issue from prior reviews), b. water was leaking from surrounds of the rainfall shower (was concerned it may actually damage the ceiling, so opted not to use it. c. Shower scum on the heads and floor Hadn't mentioned these during the visit, just accepted them as they were. A few downlights were hanging loose when we arrived, one in the shower itself. Housekeeping helped remedy, but I think moreso of how it could have been presented without these items There were extra beds in our upstairs bedroom, which blocked our access to the balcony (figured this may have been due to miscommunication in correspondence, no biggie). Biggest advice: Move away from the strange "white people fusion" menu. "Fried Vermicelli Noodles" can still be called Pancit Palabok, while maintaining its alure. Trust an honest Filipino chef to cook honest Filipino food ✌️
Location, accessibility to town by tuk tuk, staff, sizeable accomodation, available all hours. Had an amazing stay and would surely be back should we visit Panglao/ Alona again! Mark will be an amazing talent in the tourism industry for the future. BoP ahould keep hold of him, and continue investing in his development - he is a sensational and knowledgeable staff member (many other special mentions!)

United Kingdomthe breakfast didn’t quite meet my expectations. The options were quite limited, as breakfast was served from a set menu rather than a buffet, which restricted the variety. I was hoping for a wider selection, especially when it came to fresh fruits, but the portion provided was quite small. While the food itself was decent, the lack of choices and minimal fruit offerings made the experience feel underwhelming. This might not be the best option if you prefer a more extensive breakfast selection.
Bird of Paradise is a hidden gem for those seeking peace and relaxation. The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and beautifully designed, offering a serene escape. The food is fresh and flavorful, adding a delightful touch to the stay. However, the location might be challenging for some, as the property is tucked away in an off-road area with a bumpy one-way route and occasional water crossings. While the journey can be a bit tricky, the tranquil atmosphere and quality of the stay make it worth the trip. Overall, a fantastic choice for those who value privacy, and comfort.

The esthetics, the comfort. The bathroom with 2 sinks is a small but nice detail. The tuk tuk travels to the city center are very convenient.

United KingdomThere was a lot of construction work going on around the property during our stay - which we realise is out of the hotels control but I would flag that it is currently going on as it is loud all through the day if you wish to spend a day by the pool. Cleaning of the rooms was simple with beds made and towels folded; we had to take dirty glasses down to the bar area and to get fresh coffee mugs and tea bags as they were not replaced each day (however this was a tiny inconvenience).
We had a great stay at Birds of Paradise, the staff were lovely and attentive - it was my sisters birthday whilst we were there so I asked them to help put up some decorations and they went above and beyond to decorate our room and keep a surprise! There was a good choice of breakfast in the morning and a variety of lunch/dinner items to choose from if you wanted to stay in the hotel. The main area is around a 15 minute walk away but the hotel also offers a free shuttle to Alona Beach which was really helpful during our stay. The pool was cleaned daily and was lovely and blue.

Hong KongProbably the only downside was a poor internet connection in the .
The rooms were very comfortable and the pool was kept nice and clean. The staff were excellent and always happy to help. Hotel was peaceful and slightly away from the main town centre, but the hotel provided a Tuk-tuk to the town or beach at any time. The food was very nice, very tasty and great snacks by the pool with some superb cocktails made by the staff - mango daiquiris were a highlight! Would definitely return.

SpainThe WIFi signal in room 104 was non existent.
We had a pleasant stay…. the front desk and restaurant/bar staff is super friendly and helpful - quintessential Filipinos! The drink prices are great - less than the bars and restaurants outside the property. As for the room, it was spacious and well designed. The location is off the main road but it was an easy walk to the restaurants and beach. The local road is dark at night and muddy if it rains… but still very doable if you decide not to use the complimentary tuktuk ride. There is an ongoing building site next door which concerned us but the noise was not too bothersome. We still enjoyed the pool that we had to ourselves for two afternoons even though the property was fully booked during our 4 day stay.

PhilippinesNot much food available in house during our stay. But they have a free tuktuk taking you anywhere around Alona. A bit of construction ongoing at the neighbours but shouldn't last forever.
Comfortable and nicely decorated rooms with everything you need to relax. Albeit not directly on the beach, the garden and pool makes it a nice cosy little place, not far from other tourists attractions and restaurants Massage in the room available and cocktails at the bar to drink by the pool.

GermanyUnfortunately there is a construction site next to the hotel so it was a bit noisy (of course not the hotels fault). Transport and tours were much more expensive than the usual price in town.
