Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt’s basic, but that’s a choice :)
Amazing place in the middle of nature! Beautiful view of the ricefield while having a tasty lunch. They even made breakfast early on request. Staff was so friendly and Dodo even played beautiful piano music in the morning. Thanks a lot for this beautiful experience!

IsraelA lovely, natural and isolated place, with a vegetarian restaurant facing rice fields. And people are smoking in the restaurant! Heaven turned into migraine hell. I hope it will be changed.

United KingdomThe room is definitely nicer in the pictures! Obviously tons of bugs (to be expected in a place like this) but there were so many in and on my bed because the mosquito net isn’t big enough to fit the bed and there are holes on it. As mentioned by most, the road is pretty crazy but I would say just try to drive there in the daytime and you’ll be fine.
So peaceful. The worker at the bar was absolutely amazing, completely transformed my stressful evening into a lovely one. Played his keyboard while we watched fireflies and it was so nice. Thank you!

Very nice stay in the middle of the jungle. Staff was super nice and helped me to learn some Tagalog. I had dinner and breakfast, and both where tasty! Saw some fireflies at night. Next morning did a tour around the farm, which I enjoyed very much. Basic but perfect stay, great value for money!

BelgiumAt night there were many wildlife creatures who came to join us, if your afraid for huge spiders this isn’t the place to come. In the middle of the night we woke up because of two geckos who were having a race in our hut. And in the morning the chickens and a rooster came to say hi. But it was certainly a night we won’t forget!
If you’re looking for an off grid adventure this is the place to go. The last road is not easy to drive with the motorcycle especially when it rained because it can be very slippery. Its a steep hill but it’s worth when you reach the destination. It is a very unique experience. You have a very beautiful view over the rice terrace. I got to cook my own food in their open kitchen with their ingredients. Which I thought was super nice.

IsraelThe toilets, and tap for washing hands, can be improved
A special place to experience a home stay in nature. Sleep in nature and to hear the sounds of the night. The staff is stunning. We are a family with two children , at first the children were afraid and did not feel comfortable, but thanks to the staff (Dodo, Jezreel and Biba), they very quickly felt at home and after two nights they found it difficult to say goodbye. The restaurant is great, the food is delicious in a good atmosphere. Under the guidance of Dodo, we took a small walking trip, saw the magical firefly tree, and under the guidance of Jezreel, we went to visit an unknown cave. If we come to Siquijor again, we will definitely come again

United KingdomThe location is much more remote and harder to get to than anticipated… I was already aware of the last bit of the road there being rocky/difficult to drive but I didn’t realise it was as long a path as it was… there needs to be more clear signs and arrows from the road to reassure you to keep going as it looked to me like I was just going deeper into the jungle and not the right way! So I turned back to ask locals for directions… it was indeed the right way but just a bit further. I saw other guests stopping at same bit as me looking a bit lost so a sign halfway down the track would be helpful. I was driving here alone so found the whole journey quite tricky but locals were so helpful! I also did not realise there would not be a shower in my room so had a bucket of water instead which would be fine but the water pressure was not great so showering was difficult, no big deal for one night, I managed!
Stunning location in the middle of the jungle/island, relaxed and chilled vibe. Loved the common area where I enjoyed nice food & drink with amazing views. Cute little hut with nice hammock area to lie down outside. Staff were so friendly and welcoming, went above and beyond to help and make me comfortable. It was raining badly on the day I left so the staff helped me drive my motorbike out as the track was slippy/muddy. An adventure to get to/out of but worth the unique experience! Just come prepared for the rocky road there 😅

NetherlandsBooking info states there is a seperate living room and a sleeping couch. There isn't. What you see is what you get. Also the bathroom is very spartan.
Very spartan back to basic hut, with a mosquito net full of holes, a small bed for two.... BUT wow what an amazing place! It is so serene, lush of green. Everything is set around their communal restaurant set in the forest jungle, with great food all day, a huge old mango tree where you can hang out in the shade, friendly family staff. This was one of our highlights of our trip.

SwedenBeautiful secluded place with rustic bohemian huts in traditional style. A very beautiful location in the middle of the forest. You can see fireflies and geckos and listen to the silence and birds. I enjoy my stay a lot. Very friendly staff and good food especially the herbal tea. They sell their own cacao bean brew. I loved the garden and the view from my room. The last bit of the road is a bit tricky but possible to go with the scooter slowly. Would love to see some vegan choices for breakfast.

CanadaI would only improve a little bit the wi fi connection to be able to use it inside the room. For us was not a big issue because we seat on the living room and most of the time we were outside exploring.
The hosts ara absolutely lovely, we were welcomed with some water and some banana from their tree. They recommend us many places to see and how to move around. Very very nice experience overall:) Definitely worth the price!

NetherlandsThis place will not be for everyone. There is no Internet connection, the bathroom facilities are very basic, and the road to the homestay is so rough that it is not easy to get to the other parts of the island. There are also several animals in the room, like some large geckos. For us, all of these things added to a truly memorable experience, but be warned if things like these can be a deal breaker for you.
This is a really special place to stay. The road to the homestay is quite rough, and taking it, you notice you are getting far removed from others. At the end of the road, there is a truly special homestay. We stayed in the hut with the terrace. The view from the hut is beautiful, and you can truly admire it by chilling in the nets. The surroundings are silent except for the sounds of the animals and insects around you. The people running the hostel are kind and hospitable. While during our stay, not all food options were available, the ones they had tasted great. Some of the products they use are homemade, and the others are sourced organically if possible. A true recommendation is the hot chocolate made with homemade cacao beans. There is no Internet connection in the homestay, and you feel close to nature. This made it the best place we stayed for reading a book and unwinding!

GermanyThe restaurant and its view was quite nice. The host was friendly. We can‘t say anything positive about our room. The hut was very aside from the other huts. There was no shower. We have to take a shower in the jungle with a bucket. The toilet was another hut with no walls and no flush. All in all we felt very unwell and only stayed for one night instead of three nights. Tip: the accomodation don‘t rent scooters. You have to rent one at the port. Otherwise the host have to bring you to the port which cost 350 pesos.

AustraliaNothing we didn't like, we had a fantastic time.
We had a fantastic time at the beautiful homestay in 'The Jungle ' . We loved the basic Nipa huts and the simplicity of the place. We really slowed down and enjoyed the meals they prepared. The central eating and hang out space has great views and a great vibe. The perfect place to meet other guests or just relax overlooking the rice paddy. The staff was super friendly and it really felt like a welcoming homestay experience. They now have wifi in the kitchen/dining area which we found helpful to organise more accommodation and transport.

AustraliaNA - we loved everything!
We loved everything about Nipa Hut - the location, the family & the staff, and the food was absolutely amazing! It was such a peaceful getaway - we wish we could have stayed longer! Siquijor is a beautiful place, and Nipa Hut is right in the middle of the island, which makes it easy to get to everything & as it's up in the mountains, the scenery is absolutely stunning! A special thanks goes out to Dodo, who helped us get a scooter in town, helped organise transport to the Port, and always had a smile on his face! Not to mention, he was a great musician! We will be back to stay here longer and sing some karaoke with you, Dodo!!!
