How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The A/C made a really loud noise. It was hard to sleep at night because of it. The hostel had no coffee for breakfast, just hot water with nescafè. While walking up to the rooftop you could see a lot of birds excrements on the indoor stairs, which was disgusting.
The hostel is in a great position. I had a private room, it was small but clean, and had good lighting. The lady at the reception is very nice.

The room was very small. The building doesn't seem to be finished, so while you go up to the rooftop to have breakfast the things seem that are falling apart.
It is well located in the center of the village. The employees were very kind and helpful. The pancakes in the breakfast were so good.

Basic/dated property - The building is quite simple and it is not very modern. It’s very much just a place to sleep not really somewhere you can feel comfortable and relax. The window in the room opens up to the internal corridor not outside so you have to keep the curtains closed if you want privacy.
Great location - close to the port and all the main restaurants, bars, activities etc Wonderful staff - very helpful with recommendations and will book the tours for you. They will also refill your water bottles with filtered water so you don’t have to keep buying water.

Very much a budget option, but exactly what it says on the tin! Good location - two minutes from the sea and next to a laundry and a bakery. Breakfast on the rooftop is lovely, beautiful view, really fluffy pancakes. The room was very small with no window. However, it was clean, had A/C and the staff were very helpful and friendly for everything we asked which ticks most of the boxes of budget accom.

The aircon is incredibly noisy so difficult to sleep. The room although clean is a little depressing…no window to the outside only the corridor and painted grey so I found it a bit like a prison cell but you get what you pay for. if you are looking for somewhere in the centre and will be out on tours all day then it’s fine.

The room was very small and the shared bathroom could have been cleaner.
The staff were helpful and the breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely. It was an ideal location for the shops and beach.

Small rooms and staff at breakfast.
The location is superb, just near the city center, without all the loud noises. We paid around € 50 per night for a room that could fit 4 persons and had breakfast included. The room had 2 bunkbeds and felt really small. The breakfast had limited options, as in fried rice, eggs or pancakes. In this price range we expected more of the hotel. The lady at the front desk was really helpful and kind. The staff at breakfast however could be nicer and more helpful. They felt a bit arrogant. Overall, we think the hotel and amenities did not justify the price per night.

The hostel needs renovations and upgrades/change some of the ac units. The ac in our room shuts down unexpectedly, and the remote is broken as well as the temp indicator on the ac. The toilet stinks even when it has just been cleaned; maybe due to plumbing?
Food was good. Great location. Staff were kind & helpful.

There were SO many ants in our room. More than I’ve ever seen in any room we’ve stayed in Asia. We did not eat or drink anything in the room to attract these, but they were everywhere. Offering ant spray in each room would be appreciated.
The loveliest receptionist! The staff were very very compassionate when I asked for early check-in when my partner was unwell with food poisoning. They ensured to clean our room first so it would be ready early & messaged me to confirm it was ready. They showed a lot of empathy and were very kind! Good wifi connection!

The staff were amazing and very helpful. The hotel is a bit rammed down and the room is not very spacious, quite expensive for what you get but you're in El Nido... you're not gonna spend lots of time in your room so for just a bed to sleep in is absolutely fine. And location is super convenient, close to everything you need.
