Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PhilippinesI just had the most comfortable and relaxing birthday break at The Kubo Gardens–thanks to the serene place and the people behind the accommodation. Ms. May is the owner, along with her Indian partner who isn’t often around due to work abroad, and Emma is the one behind accommodations, front desk and kitchen work. Hello again! They’re the nicest. I stayed at one of their “kubos” since I was only a solo traveler and it’s been really good. If there’s any tiny issue to where I’m staying, it would be not being a fan of communal restrooms (yes, you share the shower room and the comfort room with other guests if you opt for the kubos, which are just a few seconds away when you get out of the your kubo). It’s included in the description anyway and it was my choice, since I was on a budget. You have other options though. They have much bigger rooms available (concrete and modern, not really kubos anymore), each with its own shower/comfort room if sharing is also not your thing. Luckily, I was the only guest during my stay so technically, I had the shower/comfort room all for myself. The Kubo room, a single, small room, as seen in their photos (one blue-painted with a green door & a red one with a blue door) is really what you get. The bed can fit in two people. The room is obviously quite small, with hardly enough space to move around or place your stuff into if you have a huge luggage but if clean and cool (good enough air-conditioner) is okay with you, then it should be a perfect choice. I was comfortable inside and sleep has been perfect with the crickets at night and chirping birds in the morning serving as white noise to my tinnitus. I didn’t even need the air-con turned on the whole time because it can get too cold, and I also prefer some fresh air sometimes. The best part about the place is the people, the food and their location. Ms. May was so nice and has treated me really well. Same as Emma!

PhilippinesDoesn't accept credit cards on-site and no TV but still OK, no problem for a short stay.
This is the place to stay in La Union. Excellent value! Very spacious and ultra clean room amidst a well kept garden. Good Filipino breakfast and dinner choices at reasonable prices. Many thanks to Emma A for being so gracious during our stay, it was marvelous!

PhilippinesIt's not a big deal but sometimes the internet may fluctuate. I'm not sure if it's because of the storm. But all in all, if you're a digital nomad like me, you can work here comfortably.
The property is very nice and cozy. The owners are very accommodating. Big shout out to Mr. Raj and Madame Minerva! During the stormy night, Mr. Raj cooked a nice meal for me for free just because they're concerned that I won't be able to go out for dinner due to the storm. They even lent me a torch and an electric kettle so that I won't go out to the open kitchen area for hot water. Words cannot express how homey this place is. Some can argue that it's not the place, it's the community. In this case, the owners. Will definitely go back here.

United StatesClean, well-maintained property with an excellent location 10-15 mins from San Juan (main surfing town) off the main road. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent-tasting, but limited food and non-alcoholic drink menu. No TV (good reason to disconnect) with WiFi in common areas. Private parking area. Large rooms with multiple beds and clean hot showers.

PhilippinesThe place is beautiful. Our room faced a garden, and the back view overlooked a lush greenfield. The room, linens, and towels were impeccably clean. The home rental is very spacious, and the owner including the staff were kind and super accommodating. They greeted us with a warm smile, and all our needs were met.
