There are a few things that needed improvement, in the treehouse dorm the AC glitches and it gets pretty hot. The kitchen is on the smaller side with little space for food prep, the pots are long overdue for replacement, some being forever scorched in the pot itself, handles falling off and missing tops. The best knife(chef knife) is mangled with chips in the blade and very dull making it extremely dangerous to use and I'm a professional . Both common areas could use more fans and a way to deter mosquitos because they eat you up out there. Lastly, the refrigerator is on it's last legs as it has a hard time keeping the food cold so food goes bad extremely quickly which results in a waste of money. Carlos has made many attempts to alleviate the issue with the refrigerator but guests continue to stuff it with no regard for airflow. Maybe an additional refrigerator could help.

Carlos and the staff will allow us to play music throughout the day. Everyone starts dancing and socializing, usually, resulting in a group of us going out that night and getting to know each other even further. Diana is very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico and the surrounding area. She always assists guests in finding activities to fill the time and making sure DoorDash/Uber Eats makes it to her guests. Professionalism is on point, the dorms and bathrooms are always so pristine. I love seeing how well Carlos treats his staff with genuine care and respect which in turn motivates them to have impeccable customer service. I never feel disrespected by Carlos or his staff. As a matter of fact, the hostel was scheduled for remodeling this week and Carlos made sure the guests knew and even suggested temporary lodging for a few until we could check back in. I've stayed at many hostels since coming to PR and 1802 is by far the best one I've had the pleasure to stay at.

The highlight of the hostel and my stay was the manager Carlos and the rest of the staff! He is extremely kind, helpful and generous. When he has time he shows the guests around the town and gives them an authentic Puerto rican experience :)

literally everything. I’m not sure how people DON’T give 1802 a 10/10. Firstly, Carlos the owner of the hostel is the most accommodating, genuine & generous person who will help with any questions or literally anything you need. The hostel itself is v cute with a well equipped kitchen, lots of social areas and the rooms have good A/C after being out in the PR heat all day! The girls who work there are all lovely and will be there whenever you need help with anything. Just a lovely and positive vibe around the entire place. Location is great - no more than 25 min walk to multiple beaches and 5 mins uber to grocery store & nightlife. I’ve solo travelled a LOT and this will go down as probably my favourite solo trip so far in my life thanks to the island, the hostel, carlos & the girls.

Seemed to be some miss communication upon arrival. The females staff seem to not all be on the same page. Highly recommend the private room if available or offered. Having to come in at all hours & trying not to interrupt others sleep was uncomfortable but understandable.

the location was not close by to condado and old san juan! If you stay here you will need to rent a car or use public transport. Also, to gain access to my room which was private, I had to go through another room which was shared. and the smell didn't seem nice either

Very far from everything ( need to take an Uber to go to old SJ or to the beach) Haven’t seen any staff nor talk to any face to face on my 2 night stay Room far too cold AC put to very cold Room overcrowded as some guests had extra guests in their bed on both nights. This place is amazing! Perfect location, clean, affordable. The staff is so nice, and really take care about the travellers. The vibe there is so cool! The Lobby is a plus, where you can chill, discuss, cook your own food. The wifi is good there. Location is the best! Santurce, you have everything around no more than 30mn walk. I had an amazing time and will recommend 200% everyone who wants to enjoy San Juan with a good&chill vibes to come there. Thank you to all! It was so a pleasure to spend time here.
