Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCould have had a few chairs outside of the rooms to sit in. We rented five rooms and a couple of the rooms didn’t have the bed completely made.
I love the location. The beds were really comfortable.

United StatesThe size of our room was tiny. The beds were comfy but we had very little room to move around or to set up our bags. We stayed in one without hooks to hang wet towels or clothing/suits.
Location and ease of access was great.

United StatesNot their fault, but garbage pickup at 4 am woke us up. Loss of power at 5:30 woke us again. Then at 6:40 a generator started outside our room, but gave us no power! I don’t blame waterside inn for those things, but a rough night!
Simple and clean and comfortable rooms at a good price

United StatesWe booked 2 rooms: one was great (1 queen bed with bathroom) and one was not what we had booked. The latter was supposed to have 2 separate sets of bunk beds (when booking, there were 2 pictures of bunk beds next to each other, and it said it was a room for 4 people), but there was only one set in the room. We also did not know that the rooms were at two separate, though next to each other, locations. You should know that for rooms 1-8, there are shared bathrooms and shared showers. The room with the queen bed, room 9, had its own bathroom, and was excellent! Also, the email sent beforehand talked about places to visit nearby, which is great, but the places are actually significantly farther than the message says.
The location is excellent, and the place was very clean and charming! Though neither the owner nor other employees are in the property, the person that I believe is the owner sent information beforehand to my email and was available to take calls and respond to texts when questions arose.

United StatesI liked everything for what I was looking for.
Great location and extremely nice people. This is not a luxury room, it is for minimalist, the room offers a clean place to sleep and a shower. Great for a weekend getaway. Lazy Jacks bar is attached and extremely busy. Open till 1 am with food and drink. Great staff!

United StatesSlightly moldy in shower. I had to throw out the plastic curtain. The town/island had a weird, hostile vibe. Lots of rude people, bums and drunks. There was even a big fist fight on the ferry over from cieba. Also most of the "protected" section of the island is closed because there's UXO/stray bombs. I think they are somewhat misleading about this online. There's only a few accessible remote beaches.
It was a cozy spot to stay for inexpensive. The bar nearby is a great spot but slightly expensive. The breakfast place next door is excellent! The town is very cute and picturesque along the shoreline.

United StatesThere’s no natural light. There is only WiFi in the common area outside the guest room and something about the construction seems to prevent cell service from reaching inside the rooms too so you are essentially disconnected when in your room. Which I guess is fine if you’re there to completely unplug, but I found it very frustrating not to be able to do things like call my partner from bed before going to sleep (he wasn’t with me on the trip) or look up the beaches I wanted to go to while taking 20 minutes to hang in the air conditioning. I was mainly annoyed since the rooms are advertised as having WiFi and I don’t appreciate false advertising. Secondly, the room was clean but only speciously so. I looked under the bed to make sure I hadn’t left anything when packing and it was clear they haven’t vacuumed under it in months. The drawers also had some hair and grime in them that I had to wipe out myself. Finally, I didn’t get a single good nights sleep because of the noise. I didn’t read the fine print but there is a bar attached to the guest house that stays open until 2 am, with music and all the normal sounds of drunken parties. You definitely need to bring ear plugs. They say they have them for you but didn’t actually have them when I asked. Earplugs should be fine for covering the bar sounds but because the WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms you also have guests sitting in the common area using their phones/watching videos and the doors don’t block this sound at all. And even if you manage to get to sleep, other guests getting up in the morning and just shutting their doors sounds like slamming. Oh, one last thing and it’s small but they only give you 2 bath towels and no hand towels or any other kind of towel. It was okay for me as a solo traveler, but if you had a second person, I guess you’re stuck drying yourself with a towel that’s damp from drying your hands? Also, don’t forget to bring your own beach towel.
Location was great, just a few steps and you’re on the Malecon, walking along the water. Beds were comfortable and there was decent water pressure with water that gets very hot. It’s self check in and out, but the hosts are pretty responsive via text. Air conditioning works well. All the staff at the adjoining bar are great (just don’t bother them when they are busy! That place gets slammed!)

United StatesThere's no reception, so you don't really see anybody who works there... So nosy in the nights. Beds so uncomfortable. A lot of mosquitos.
Good location. Next to the Main Street and beach walk side. Restaurants and beaches walkable. Once you do the check out you can leave the luggage there and even you can use the shower and bathroom later in the day before you leave. This are in the common areas. Once you do the reservation, they send you a list of things and option to do.

Super friendly staff. Close to the bio bay excursion. Many restaurants near by. Beds were comfy for the overnight. We checked out at 11 and our flight back didn't leave till 4pm. We were able to keep our bags in the courtyard instead of lugging them around. If you go, check out the food truck called the lunchbox across from El block, fish tacos were amazing!

United StatesWiFi isn't available in the rooms. In fact, the room was the only place on the island I also couldn't get data service. So I had no Internet in my room, only the common area of Lazy Guesthouse. That is my #1 complaint as I like surfing the web while I'm in bed -- especially on vacation where I'm planning my next day's events. I contacted host to see if it was working properly since standing right outside the property my phone wouldn't even pick up the network. They said it works in the common areas only. We were also in a room near the restaurant, which was extremely loud very late at night. We were waking up at 4:45am to leave on an early ferry, so that was an unwelcome disruption.
The location is fantastic in that it's extremely close to the beach and Lazy Jack's restaurant. It was affordable for the location. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed having a private bathroom in the suite. The room was extremely clean. We liked keyless entry. The location worked extremely well for us as we were visiting mostly beaches and the bio bay based out of Esperanza.
