The breakfast was very poor even for a 3 star standards. There wasn't even water, and usually you find it everywhere. There was no staff around so plates did not get refilled. Both days the reception did not work so for check in, check out and any other issues I had to go to their other hotel. On my departure, I asked to book a taxi for a certain time from staff at the reception. The receptionist booked it for 10 mins later than I have asked, then taxi was late for another 10 mins. The driver seemed to be well known by the receptionist, and they both told me I shouldn't worry, the airport is close. Just keep in mind that it is a reception of a 4 star hotel by Ridan. And I paid 10 euros for a 7 mins ride while I was told I will cost 7 euros. When I expressed it to thr driver, he ignored me and did not give change.

Don’t really have any complaints about this hotel, pleasant stay.

The variety of food served at breakfast was good. Staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to anyone I know that is traveling to the island of Terciera.

When I had done a search we were looking for shuttles it states on the website "A shuttle is available to Lajes Airport, a 5-minute drive away." This was a bit misleading. there is no shuttle service to and from the hotel. You basically have to get your taxi there and they will call you a taxi when you want to leave, it cost us 10 euros each way. Also read closely- that there is no parking available at the hotel. Basically you have to find street parking or park further away near the park or marina (if it's available) and walk in. It was less convenient especially if you pack everything you need for the day to go out (with a 4 y old), and walk to and from the car. The fridge in our room didnt work, but it was eventually replaced which was helpful. Keep in mind if you want to have items in the fridge (eg. meats for sandwiches for lunch etc), once you leave the room (electricity is shut off when your card is not in the slot), the items are not kept cold.

The location was great- right beside the beach which was perfect for us and our 4 year old. We opted to pay for breakfast. There was good variety for everyone. The beds were comfy. Happy we had air conditioning, super helpful! The staff was super nice and friendly.

Our first room had a broken air conditioner, the second night they moved us to a second room. The beach towels were a great perk and they never complained about how messy our family was with young kids. The breakfast had scrambled eggs, but other than that was only composed of pre-made breads and fruits. Nearest free parking is a bit far.

The draw backs were that the mattress was very hard. The breakfast was a little lacking, not much variety and the coffee was cold most mornings.

The “gentleman’s club” next door was very noisy. The hotel did provide earplugs which we did use.

The hotel advertises there's a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. We arrived from Ponta Delgada and looked for the shuttle or a phone to call the hotel. There was neither. We took a taxi to the hotel (cost 9 euro) and asked about the shuttle. We were told that they would call us a taxi! So there was no shuttle! One of the reasons we chose this hotel. Also, we wanted to rent a car for 3 days and the hotel said it could help us. We were directed to their other hotel just up the street. The desk clerk gave us the pamphlet for Angus car rental (the only one he had), it said a car would cost us 35 euro a day. My partner called them from the hotel desk and was told it was 65 euro a day! They refused to honor their pamphlet, which was for the time period we were there. No other options, so we had to pay for a taxi again (8 euros), to go to the airport to rent a car from another company. We rented it for the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and had to return it Friday morning. So that meant another taxi (6.50 euro) back to the hotel after we dropped the car off. We usually book our car rentals in advance before leaving Canada, we were sorry we decided not to do that this time. We didnt because we wanted to get to Terceira and decide what days were best, based on our schedule. Lastly, we chose a room that described it looking onto a courtyard. Well the courtyard looked onto a tree which we believe was fake, and was surrounded by stairs and hallways. There was no outside view. Pigeons could get into the area, so a recording of an Owl was continually played to scare them away. Just don't rent one of these rooms, if you want outside access.

Breakfast was above average and the facilities to eat there were wonderful and so convenient from where our room was located. The staff continually made sure there was plenty to choose from. It was so nice to not have to go out for breakfast.

no one to greet us upon arrival, had to go down the street to checkin at their sister hotel lobby, (short distance but it was bad weather) their restaurant was closed so had to go down the street to their sister hotel for breakfast - not sure if this was temporary or not - but checking in should be at the same hotel.

We did not stay at the hotel we booked and had to carry our 6 suitcases to the other hotel 100 meters away. I put a DO NOT DISTURB notice on door and the staff still came in our room which contained valuables, very disturbing.

Nothing was poor in the hotel, I only regret that I came off-season and most tourist activities were closed.

I had a better room, as I stayed in Hotel Praia Marina instead of Varanda do Atlantico. Very good breakfast, comfortable room.

Room was a bit smaller than optimum. Bath had a tub that was a bit of a challenge to get into for older people. A walk in shower would have been preferred. Staff was slow to make up room for 2nd night.
