“Super friendly host and wonderful neighbourhood”

  • Musafir Guest House Syariah Review score: 10

“Very welcoming staff, allowed us to check-in early. Suprapto, the off-duty manager, still contacted us and arranged to transport us anywhere around Solo on his day off. This act of kindness was greatly appreciated, and helped to maximise our limited experience in Solo. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff were very efficient and professional when there was a huge thunderstorm, quickly covering and cleaning wet areas. The snacks for breakfast were also a pleasant surprise. Even the nearby mosque was a pleasant wake-up call - certainly more melodic than elsewhere! Musafir Guest House is a paragon of how to provide clean, good-value, hospitable accommodation for all travellers by doing some of the simple stuff exceptionally well.”

“Very kind and accommodating staff. Large comfortable room in a traditional Javanese house with a courtyard. Situated in the heart of the old town, close to Alun-Alun but far enough from tourist attractions. Lots of food stalls nearby.”

“OMG what a nice hostel! It was the best hostel I’ve ever stayed. It is beautifully furnished and incredibly clean for a hostel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is super delicious and so lovingly prepared. And if you have to leave early, you get a lunchbox packed with love. You have to stay when you are in Yogyakarta!”

  • ViaVia Guesthouse Review score: 10

“Perfect little oasis in Yogyakarta. The room was clean and very comfy. The bathroom was a bit outdated, but clean. The highlight is the cozy garden with pool and the lovely and helpful staff. He guesthouse itself is located in a quiet side street, but everything is in walking distance. They also helped us organizing a scooter rental and yoga classes.”

“The welcoming and friendly staff on arrival and throughout the stay. The building was fabulous, colonial style with big rooms and beds. There were areas to sit in and free tea, coffee and water. The breakfast was good and they did us a pack up on our leaving day as we went early. The atmosphere was very calm after the chaos of Yogykarta! It was a perfect location, on a quiet street. We could walk to the square where every single evening there were lots of street good stalls. We rented a moped to get around, but Grabs were good too. We loved our stay here and would definitely come back!”
