Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe room was worn out, the socket looked very unsafe, and it was also very hot, although I was given a fan - in the summer it is probably impossible to stay inside during the day. There was no kettle, kitchenette, or balcony as advertised on the booking site. The guesthouse had no water for sale, only beer and soda, and even that was warm.
Truly amazing hostess, always ready to please and a real sweetheart. The breakfast was good and the hostess took into consideration my dietary needs when preparing it. My room was immaculate and the staff kept all the grounds clean at all times. The location of the guesthouse is excellent - within walking distance of the US Embassy, the library, and a 24-hour supermarket. The price was fair for what you get.

CameroonI am very attentive to detail; a few spots could be cleaned to make the place spotless. I will gladly share some detailed cleaning tips with management and there's also the possibility of improving the infrastructure to give it more class.
The breakfast was simple and delicious and met my expectations. There was enough African tea and I enjoyed the fruits. The receptionist was very welcoming and supportive, making my stay comfortable and good. The sheets and towel were very clean. I enjoyed the clean and green environment at a very affordable cost. If you have a low budget and need a decent place in a classic and calm environment to stay, then Inzozi Africa House B&B is the place.

GermanyLots of miscommunication about breakfast or the unanticipated security guards presence at 2am - I'd rate it as "new-to-the-country" issues that they could help prevent with some checklists/briefings for all guests upon arrival
Solid base. Safe. Location within good reach of the city and some art galleries Nothing spectacular, maybe a bit too pricey compared to some other stays in Kigali that offer more of a retreat vibe for similar bucks

Czech RepublicUnfortunately, I got the room adjacent to the breakfast tables and the general hang out area. Which meant that until late every day somebody was sitting literally 60 cm next to my shoulder across the wall and talked. The same was happening from very early morning. there were always loud bangs around 5:15 AM - maybe the preparation in the kitchen or works in the garden, or the neighbors. And I’m a very deep sleeper! It just feels very eerie and creepy if somebody is literally sitting in your aura having breakfast while you’re sleeping. You can hear every single girl word, even if they whisper, since you have to keep your windows open or else, you will feel too hot (no fab or AC). You cannot even make a sound or use the toilet because there is a person sitting right next to your window - so imagine you have a funny stomach etc. To me the room position was a very strong, strong minus.
It is so quiet and very well-maintained. It felt homely. And everyone was very friendly. The price was fair!

BelgiumNothing really.
This is a cozy place in a quiet neighborhood, ideal for budget travellers. While it's not exactly centrally located, motorcycle taxis are readily available nearby. I never had trouble finding one whenever I needed to get around. The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful, and will make you feel right at home. The main gate is always locked, ensuring that only guests can access the property. Although the rooms show signs of aging, they are kept clean. Keep in mind that room sizes vary, so it's wise to take note of the room dimensions and review the property's photos when booking. Light sleepers should consider bringing earplugs as all the rooms are on the ground-floor and may pick up some noise from outside (other guests and staff walking or talking). Considering the price they're offering, this is one of the best accommodation in Kigali.

BelgiumThe place is excellent, with comfortable beds, a cozy and calm atmosphere, and really nice decorations. The breakfast was excellent each morning, with a big thermos of delicious African tea. The manager (Diel) is a very knowledgeable and interesting person to talk to, and is very caring in his approach to the guests. He was very kind in responding to any requests I had, and always checked in to make sure I was enjoying my stay. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kigali!
