How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The room was bigger than we expected and clean. Bed was comfortable and also the bathroom. Breakfast was good with many options considering the limited facilities they have. Staff friendly, willing to help and provided what we ask for. Recommended!

Very, very small room. The property description stated that it was an economical room, but I was surprised by the dimensions. The showers water flow goes into the toilet! The hotel does not advertise that!
Good WIFI connection! Has a TV with Neflix Has a tea kettle.

tiny room, actually the double room was for one person .
Very good value for.money ,good breakfast ,english full breakfast and healthy choices as well ,good staff ,very near in city center and around 20 min walk to Gamla Stan old city .Hot bedroom, nice bathroom, good lift .Safe neighborhood.

I loved it here. It was a really nice hotel, the staff was really friendly and helpful, everything was great. I really enjoyed the breakfast, it was located close to everything and if I come to Stockholm again I will definitely come to this hotel again. It exceeded my expectations and I recommend it to everyone who plans to go to Stockholm.

Air conditioner without regulation, a little bit to cold- sometimes

The hotel was perfectly located, we could go everywhere on foot, and it was super quiet at the same time. Room quite small but very comfortable indeed. Highly recommended.

The room super small, and the bed is for the kid I felt down on the floor during the night I think 4 times. The staff super nice tho! Plus shower connected with toilet which is the worst after the shower you cants the bathroom straight away.
The location is great. Close to Stockholm Central and other nice attraction.

The size of the bathroom was too small. I'm a big person, it was a little difficult for me. Perhaps others are more comfortable in the same space.
Staff were awesome. They all deserve a raise. Amazing reception lady. The single room was cozy, quite nice for one night stay. Value was great compared to other similar options. The location was wonderful. Overall it was excellent 👍

It was a bit cold in the rooms because of the air vents
The hotel is really close to the centre of Stockholm, everything is just a couple of hundred meters away. the staff was always helpful and really friendly. Next time I’m in Stockholm, I’m booking Birka Hotel again.

There was an early fire alarm at 6:30am which woke us up and we had to wait outside in -5 degrees for 45 minutes. The fireman said it was due to a compression failure in the hotel, rather than a guest triggering the alarm, which is a breach of health and safety. Unfortunately this caused us to be very tired in the morning and we missed our ice skating tour due to the fire alarm. It’s a shame as we are only in Stockholm for the weekend. we complained but no response. also there was a lot of light from the bathroom as the bathroom had no curtains on their windows and there was frosted connecting door to the bedroom.

There wasn't so much light in the room and it wasn't so clean (some food rests under the bed).

Room was a bit small, but that was fine since we were out of the room except for to use the bathroom and sleep.
It was perfect, near the centre, great staff and clean. Had all the needs required. There was also a lift and we left the luggages in a safe locked room before check-ing in. thanks 👍☺️

Everything exceeded my expectations. No complaints at all.
