Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe picked this place specifically for the location and it was perfect for that. Great jump off point for hiking trails, Aurora Sky Station and other winter activities in the area. The parking lot was fairly close to the reception building but we still had to wheel our suitcase in the snow. We had a room with the attached bathroom and it was as expected. Good closet storage/hooks and dark shades! The breakfast was sufficient (not amazing). The lobby area and shared spaces were pretty packed throughout the day. I wish the fireplace and some other shared lobby areas were open/available in the evening.

AustriaHard to think of anything really, maybe the toillette paper could be a bit softer.
Great place, I've enjoyed every minute. The beds are comfortable, there's enough space to store and hang stuff, kitchen & bathroom are very clean. The sauna is open most of the time, it could be a bit hotter in there though. There's also a room to dry things. Very effective. Haven't tried the restaurant, brought my own bed sheets.

United KingdomNo reflection of the accomodation or hosts but we happened to be staying with some very inconsiderate people making a lot of noise late into the night - for future guests please remember to be mindful of banging around!
Stayed in the hostel, quadruple room with my husband and 7yr old. The room was clean, basic but had what we needed. The shower / toilets were also more than suitable and clean. Hired bed linen / towels on arrival which again were more than sufficient. Despite some comments left on other sites the staff do clean through once a day, there are also ample supplies for guests to clean after themselves. The kitchen was well equipped to make basic meals and again was clean for the 2 days we were there. Location is excellent for the train station and the start of a multitude of hikes. The blue train is good for smaller children as it's mainly flat. Nearest proper supermarket is in Abisko but is walkable within 20 mins. It's significantly cheaper than eating at the hotel but that's to be expected. The shop has plenty of equipment to hire, few items of dry / frozen foods and a selection of drinks. Breakfast had plenty of options, the lunch bags (again slightly more expensive) are good enough if you don't want to go to the supermarket. The bistro has a small menu but the food was of very good quality and portion sizes were more than adequate. All of the details regarding linens, towels and cleaning is well advertised on their booking sites for guest information.

United KingdomNothing.
Clean and warm accommodation. Very comfortable. Beautiful setting overlooking the mountains and frozen lake. We were in one of the separate cottages which was perfect size for our group of 4, but could comfortably fit 6. Breakfast was very nice. Had everything you need including a lovely restaurant. STF Abisko is a perfect base for exploring the winter activities.

GermanyAmazing staff!!! Unique location to do winter sports, hiking or just hunt the northern lights directly stepping out of your door. I could see some every evening in the end of march. I got stuck there and stayed three days longer because my train got cancelled but all the people were so nice. Very social kitchen in the hostel, Sauna included. Perfect location to start hikes, go skiing or go up the mountain with the chair lift. STF itself also offers a lot of trips and you can rent equipment there. There is a Bistro where you can get burgers and pizza for ~200 SEK and a Restaurant with a lunch buffet for ~160 SEK or higher priced a la carte dinner. There is also a store with outdoor gear and many frozen dishes and basic food. The next supermarket is 2km away in Abisko Östra. All the facilities in the Hostel were so nice just note that you have to pay extra to rent linen or towels.

ArgentinaDon’t expect a typical hostel experience, in the sense of communal bonding, planed activities and such.
This is the best place to stay in Abisko. Hostel is comfortable, beds are nice, kitchen is very well equipped and there’s plenty of space in the common area to sit down and eat or work. Best place to go out hiking one of the many trails. Northern lights visible from the window.

AustraliaI think it is a bit cumbersome to be in charge of the cleaning and linen, that it is not included. But, it's not the end of the world.
Fantastic spot to stay as all the main trails leave from here, and best chance to view the Northern Lights from here of course! The sauna was great and well maintained. Kitchen facilities are always busy but there is enough room for everyone. I look forward to staying again.

EcuadorThis was my first experience where the linens aren't included and you have to rent them. Other than that, it was great!
Very good spot to get away from the city. We even got to see the northern lights from the hostel. I highly recommend.

KazakhstanThe cost of accommodation does not match the services provided. There is an extra charge for renting bed linen and towels, which is quite surprising given the already high prices, even for a shared room.
The hotel staff was very polite, from the housekeeping managers to the team in the restaurant and bistro. The receptionists explained everything clearly during check-in, gave a brochure with the hotel map, and provided additional information that could be useful to every guest. The hotel's location is great. The room was clean, but there was a draft from the window, making it kinda cool inside.

SwedenThe houses were really noisy. A lot of creaks and noises which literally prevented us from sleeping on the second night. The strong wind would make the house creak a lot especially in the main bedroom, with loud and sudden noises

United KingdomLocation right in middle of national park - watched Aurora from front of hotel on first night! Cozy spaces to sit and look at the view and talk to other guests. Open fire overlooking a frozen lake - heaven. Food is unbelievably good - buffet style breakfast and 3 course dinners - both delicious. Staff very kind - no lift at the property but was offered help by reception and cleaning staff to carry my suitcase up the stairs. In hotel shop handy for odds and ends - including the ice spikes I didn’t expect to need as weather was warmer than expected and ice had appeared earlier than expected. Hotel had stocked up with spikes in all sizes, anticipating that most guests would need them. Would live there if I could!
