How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

there are some expired food left from former guest for free at kitchen
the bathroom and room are very clean, staff is helpful they help me to arrange a female only room, much appreciated:)

I cant think of anything. Personally, I prefer hostels that have a privacy curtain and I think this hostel would benefit immensely from using them. This is completely upto the owner of Sparrow. It didn't make my stay worse at all, I would just rather a curtain.
It's a very clean hostel. Everything looks like it's quite new and modern which is cool. Beds are satisfactory and are a little on the firmer side. There are lockers in the dorms which are perfect size. Location is perfect. You have a range of supermarkets and coffee shops around the hostel. There's a Subway Sandwich and Pizza place literally 15 feet from the hostel. (Also a bubble tea shop). I have a good vibe from here. It's a lovely hostel.

Honestly the only negative I could have is the location but that's only really a problem if you have limited mobility or were planning on going back to the hostel multiple times a day. A 30 min walk in the morning and short bus ride back in the evening is nothing to complain about!
Great stay - helpful staff responsive to questions, clean, easy to get to the centre either by walking or by bus, a/c and wifi, decent kitchen and showers with some free stuff for if needed. It was also very quiet which probably wasn't great for the hostel but did mean I got a 6-bed room to myself for 4 nights!

Not the best hostel to socialize with too few common rooms, no activities aside from an ad for an overpriced pub crawl and a bit far away from the city center, you need a 10-minute bus ride is enough to reach it.
A nice, cheap and very efficient hostel for short stays. Everything you need from an hostel is there and having two large lockers is a great asset. Definitely does the job and the staff is super nice.

Location a bit challenging, limited open-common space
It’s hostel where you sleep and then move to explore city or whatever you are up to. For nomads/work&travel - there is not much common space (kitchen with three tables) so you will need to find spots around the city (it takes around 15 minutes with a e-scooter; bolt in next to the hostel) Apart from that everything was OK.

Common area could be bigger. Relatively far away from the city center
Extremely clean. Spacious Lockers. Friendly staff. 3 separate showers aswell as two toilet stalls each. Supermarket next door.

Location is a bit outside of the centre (25 min walk) but easy to reach by bike or bus.
Clean, comfortable, showers had good pressure. Staff was friendly.

Well it is actually something that happened. Was either in this hostel or in another one in Krakow, cause I traveled more. Maybe I will never know. I bought a set of amber ring and earrings and they just vanished (weren't cheap either!) I actually noticed when I was about to go away what happened. I am really careful with my things, especially since I travel alone. We had lockers as well. I just can't figure out who or how... I have never stolen a needle in my entire life, I am simply in shock... Just be careful out there you guys, all I am saying.
The location was great, cause I could walk more, the owners were very polite and helped with what was needed, even gave my lots of tips for the entire stay. I would certainly recommend it!

it is a bit far from the city centre which has very lively atmosphere at night, and the entrance/surrounding is very dark at night

The area around is a bit uninteresting and walking to the center is far. Not much social activity in the hostel. Rooms are next to a busy road so there's noise.
Clean, quiet hostel with friendly staff. There are public bikes you can take to the center. Spacious lockers with keys included.

The hostel wasn't very crowded, so they kindly gave me my own room. The place is really nice and well-connected to the old town. Additionally, there are free parking spaces available.

This place is PERFECT.
Booking.com should remove the "what did you not like" tab from the website only for this hostel. The place is clean, very well connected to the centre, has a supermarket and a food court right next to it, damn right I liked it!
