Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThere are nicer beaches on the island. This one isn't bad, but it's proximity to the harbor means that it's not as clean and boats can be noisy. But most people would rent a scooter anyway and beach-hop, so this isn't a problem.
The hotel and the rooms are very new, super nice, and very comfortable. Specifically the rooms tucked away in the jungle are great! Walking distance to the village.

The Baan Ploy Sea is a stunning hotel set right on the beach in Ko Samet. The room itself was spacious and beautifully presented , and the hotel facilities like pool and breakfast are lovely.

United KingdomThere is a strange set up in the restaurant with the seats being sunk into the floor and the tables at ground level . This would be very difficult for anyone with mobility issues and also, for the poor staff who had to serve and clear from floor level.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was idyllic: peaceful and beautiful, but within walking distance of the busier resort where there were more activities and bars, if desired. The cafe opposite set in the jungle was also stunning and gave wonderful views; there was an option to stay in a jungle lodge there. It was also very easy to book transport to the West side of the island to see the stunning sunset. The wifi connection was very good and sufficient for my brother to complete some necessary work at his laptop while we were there. The transfer from the ferry was particularly smooth and included in the price for the day of arrival and departure- we were greeted on the mainland at the resort's own ferry terminal where our luggage was taken care of and transported to the hotel by tuk-tuk at the other end. It was an exceptional service which made travel to Baan Ploy so much easier. Breakfast is included in the price with plenty of choice: my brother and I had a hearty breakfast and then didn't need to eat until evening. For those who do not want to have their evening meal in the hotel, there is the option of Millie's beach bar, serving a wide range of tasty Thai dishes just 5 minutes walk away where it was lovely to eat beside the sea.

United KingdomThere wasn’t much so close to the property, after a short walk we got to Saikew beach, which we didn’t enjoy so much.
The hotel was stylish, and comfortable. I loved the sunbathing area at the front of the hotel, with the sea just a few feet away, a great spot to chill. Food was excellent and the staff were very attentive.

DenmarkIt’s a little too close to the main pier from our liking. Water however was clean, and the small beach was nice.
Hotel stood out exactly like in the photos. Restaurant was good. There’s a free ferry service available which arrives 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Extremely convenient.

NorwayNothing really. I mean yes, there's mosquitos and all but Koh Samet is a national park that's covered in rain forest. Bring an insect repellent spray and you'll be fine.
The clean beach, the quiet ambience and the cozy facilities are the highlights of my stay. Yes It's pricey, but as they say: you get what you pay for. I was happy staying at this place. Ps: Brown Cabin, omg!!!! THE best chocolate drinks in the world. 😉😉😉

FranceI think the restaurant is a bit expensive plus you have to apply tax at the end, maybe that’s why not many people eat there at night. Anyway there are plenty of restaurants around

IndonesiaBaan ploy was a delightful, relaxing place to stay! Staff were warm and friendly. The rooms were clean, tidy and spacious! The breakfast and food at the attached restaurant was delicious! And, there was a very cool little chocolate shop across the road and a short 15min stroll into the town centre making it a fab location! We loved our stay there!!

ItalyMaybe just the bathroom that gives a little humidity smell because it’s completely made out of wood. But this does not impact my 10/10 mark.
Property is out of the crowded area of the island but still quite close so it’s really relaxing there.

FinlandWe stayed at Baan Ploy Sea for two nights, in a jungle view room. The room was spacious and very clean, and very quiet through the night. Probably a better choice than the sea view rooms, which are right next to the little pool where kids start to play early in the morning. The restaurant is great, clearly one of the best on the island, and breakfast was delicious. Staff is very helpful. The beachfront is clean, and that part of the bay isn't too busy with boats. You can rent a paddle board or kayaks. An extra bonus is the incredibly smooth logistics from mainland to the island and back. If I ever return to Koh Samed, I know where to stay.

AustraliaYou couldn’t swim in the ocean because of crown of thorn urchins. The tables at the restaurant were difficult to use. They would have been a real problem for older people. Low tables with a recess under them to put your legs and feet.
Large room, very comfortable, nice food. Quiet location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
