Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkIt is not a new hotel and one should not expect it to be. What it lacks in refurbished villas or rooms, it makes up for in service, location, staff and ambience.
10 meter walk to the beach from the beachfront villas with own pool and plenty of space for a small family like ours (with an infant). Part of a small village with local shops and restaurants, which makes for a nice walk outside the property. Definitely try all the small vendors selling local treats! The staff at the hotel is wonderful and accommodated us with everything we needed - baby cot, water heater, extra towels, water every day etc etc. We initially only booked a 4 day stay, but ended up prolonging our stay with 4 more days because we enjoyed it so much. The restaurant at GLOW was amazing, offering authentic Thai food with great value for money. If you are looking for a place to relax to the sound of waves, this is the place.

United KingdomThe beach is rocky and you cannot swim there during low tide. Location is far away from other areas of the island so there are not really other options for eating out in the evening.
Lovely location directly on the beach and perfect for sunset. Food at the restaurant was delicious - both breakfast and dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful.

BelgiumWe found the quality of the facilities extremely overpriced. One would expect much better design and quality for a room of 320€/night!! Everything is really shabby, outdated and worn out - the main reception with dirty windows , the pool with sharp tiles that come off and bar stools on which you risk to cut your skin open. Dirty sun beds with cracked old mats. Gym should be totally redone as you can hurt yourself in there when playing ping pong (carpet tiles not attached and slippery). Total mess in rooms next to the kitchen and outside restaurant… very disappointing how much they dare to charge. Clearly there is no reinvestment into the property. Shame…
The location is stunning, with a private beach… very relaxing. Very kind, smiling staff, good food with a nice variety of dishes.

United KingdomPoor choice at breakfast - very limited gluten free options and staff did not really understand what that was - last orders was 9pm but just felt very overpriced for what was there - we did have a nice meal in the evening though which wasn’t overpriced
Room was nice - outdoor bath and shower were dirty though .

NetherlandsWhile the hotel itself was good, the surrounding area left a bit to be desired. There’s not much to do nearby, so you’re mostly limited to staying at the hotel all day.

United StatesThe hotel charges a lot for getting to and from the hotel. We had to pay for it separately even though we were using the same car, which I thought was a bit unfair. The menu doesn't change, so you get bored of lunch and dinner. The food was also very expensive, given the quality, and the Thai food didn't seem very authentic.
I loved the bedrooms they were very nice the outdoor shower was great. The beach was really lovely, and private. There is hotel happy hour everyday which is nice since the drinks are so expensive.

United KingdomIt needed a good clean, the reception team were very accommodating but the restaurant & bar staff were not they were lazy and took forever to serve , i asked for two drinks at 11.30 am which seemed a great effort for them as I was told the bar didn’t open till 5pm IM ON HOLIDAY AND WOULD LIKE A SPRITE 🙈there probably isn’t enough staff no pool bar or service on beach . When I was waiting for my two drinks I noticed a big fridge full of lollies and ice creams but nothing is promoted, a little shack on beach serving cold drinks crisps and ice creams would be good and would be a good little little money maker as well
The bungalows we stayed in were lovely and in a good location, loved the outdoor shower air con was good . Beach was picturesque but you need sand shoes to go in the sea as very rocky underfoot .

China- beach is nice (lots of space , soft sand) but there is big tide effect in the afternoon and lots of rocks / coral. It’s not the kind of beach where you can walk in the water - no sun umbrellas on the beach - Location has pros and cons: very quiet, not too crowded but this also means there is not much to do/see outside the hotel , especially restaurant wise. Also worth knowing , there is pretty much no alcohol on the island - wine is not stored properly - there is a bar on the beach but they close very early (nothing to do at the hotel after 9pm) - Food is good but a bit limited. Was very disappointed by the Christmas menu - nothing special, only a blend of the regular a la carte items. And expensive. Also No fresh seafood or very limited and pricey - limited activities - can book external yoga or boxing teacher but only 5pm - massage room is quite bad, small, dark, cold. Would have preferred an open / curtained spot on the beach - private boat transfers are pricey - zero security around the hotel. It’s very safe around so nothing to worry about but there is zero fence and coming home late you could be chased by a barking dog
- staff was so helpful and nice! The highlight of the stay - rooms are good , air con is good - bike rental next door - good food - Nice sand beach, very long so lots of room for all guests - quiet and remote location

United Arab Emirates1. The private pool in not fully private , this should be mention 2. Electricity outage happened a lot , therefore no AC 3. Sometime the telephone is not working , so you need to go to reception if you need anything 4. Room service and cleaning , is not cleaning very well , it just changing sheets and thats it , they need to work on room service better 5. Restaurant breakfast don’t have many options and its the same every day , this is a resort and should have a good breakfast 6. In case you need to explore other activities outside the island you need to go along distance and pay a lot for transportation ( example to get to phuket you need around 50$)
1. The location is perfect right on the beach 2. Staff is very friendly and helpful 3. Right next to a village where you can find anything you need

United StatesWe went in the summer (mid June) which we were aware was low season. Many of the hotel facilities that were advertised were not available - the Tiki bar never opened while we were there, the main pool seemed closed and there was no bar, etc. We paid for the private transportation option, which at $232 USD per way, was hugely overpriced.
Overall we had a very nice time at Elixir. We had a beachfront room with private pool. The room as spacious, clean and very comfortable. The view was beautiful. We were happy with with our stay there, but this resort is by no means a 5 or 4 star resort, particularly when compared to other such resorts at the other islands. Highly recommend the Thai massage. Best one I've ever had! Koh Yao Yai is a sleepy little town, you just have to know what to expect. We rented a scooter from one of the shops down the street and had fun exploring the other beaches in the island.

GermanyOutdated rooms, the infrastructure needs an update (dirty water when toilet flushed, cracks on walls that are home to wildlife :) etc.) A resort this secluded could have more entertainment material (water activities, games, etc.), especially since the water is not the best for sea-lovers (brownish not clear water because of sand and the tide) and you can only swim for a couple of hours.
Quiet resort in nature on Koh Yao Yai island with rooms that have easy access to the beach and common areas. Friendly staff and manager; regional and continental food available all day. For nature lovers, possibility of reting scooters to ride around the island, which is a real treat.
