Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThere isn’t a space to chill - read a book have a juice or coffee. Breakfast in Tunis without orange juice is a big no in my world!!!
Lovely location with history in a quiet part of the Medina but easily accessible. In walking distance of bus station to Hammamat. Very friendly staff.

United KingdomI would have liked a small fan to move air around as the windows open, but our rooms were located on the courtyard, so it felt a bit exposed to open the windows for temperature regulation.
the rooms were beautiful and historic. the hotel was in the medina where it is primarily pedestrian streets the staff were so accommodating. breakfasts featured local favourites.

United KingdomThe electricity supply and wifi in the room was a bit variable but it was quickly fixed each time
Great location (once you find it!) in a quiet part of the medina. The hotel is a wonderful piece of living history, with beautiful rooms with wooden ceilings, wall ceramics, and stone carving. My room was an historic suite, very spacious. Staff at reception and in the restaurant could not have been more helpful. I especially enjoyed having the whole hammam to myself for an hour!!

United StatesAlthough the property is a former palace, it could use some restoration. Some of the fixtures and furniture in our room were a bit worn, and the room was rather dimly lit. The main detraction was the strong smell of sewage in the bathroom and the presence of some mildew. We visited the property in January and I was surprised that we had quite a few mosquitoes buzzing around at night. My wife woke up with several bites. You might want to take some insect repellent.
The property is very interesting - an old Ottoman era palace. It's in the Old Town (Medina) and just a few minutes walk from the maze of alleys and streets filled with fascinating shops. The breakfasts were not lavish, but adequate.

United KingdomThe hotel restaurant was good but not inspired. The nearest alternative restaurants had wonderful live traditional music: zither in one and ud (Arabic lute) in another. Finding them in the maze that is the Medina is a challenge.
Fantastic ambiance and character: an old palace refurbished but not over-done. Excellent breakfast, extraordinary location in the narrow streets of the Medina. The taxi booked through the hotel drops you off and the driver guides you along about 50 metres of alley way too narrow for any car. No lift, and probably no rooms without at least a few steps. The English-speaking staff were very helpful.

AustraliaThe food was bountiful and delicious but quite expensive, however you might expect this in a boutique hotel so nothing to complain about really. This is not a complaint but we found arriving in the evening after dark a little tricky. Our cab driver had to accompany us to find the way through the medina, so please do your research if arriving late and if you don't speak Arabic or French
The staff were very nice. The hammam and massage were amazing! Room was very nice in an antique style. Breakfast was delicious. I really liked the location in the medina, which was great in the daytime for wandering around and taking photos

United Arab EmiratesSome of the rooms are in an open area, so you can hear everyone walking around, and for your rooms, there is a little crack so people outside could hear you. The location is nice for walking but cars cannot come out front so you will need to walk from the main street with your luggage to get to the location
The breakfast is on the top floor which has some nice views. The staff is very welcoming and helpful

United KingdomBreakfast was varied, a mix of continental and Tunisian. - The whole building was impressive as were the rooms. - The hotel is in the middle of the medina, which means that your taxi will drop you off at the gate and you have to walk to the hotel. However, we loved the location but you have to be aware that the streets around the hotel can be very busy during the day and rather quiet at night. In my opinion that was no problem, because the traders don't hustle you too much and the whole area felt VERY safe. I think it is a very good place to stay at when exploring Tunis.

United KingdomBreakfast was average, the crockery and the glassware were tired and old, and the breakfast table wasn't regularly replenishes. A/C didn't work in one room, the towel radiator couldn't be turned off and no lights by the bed in one room.
Fantastic architecture and restoration on the rooms, inner courtyard and restaurant. Good cleanliness throughout and spacious rooms. Location was ideal for exploring the Medina, the souks and it was a short walk to the city.

ItalyBeing situated in the heart of La Medina, it was not easy to reach with a luggage. The massage services were not available in the late afternoon, and the availability of the hammam was unclear. Nevertheless, this hotel is worth a stay, especially for those who wish to experience the atmosphere of old Tunis.
The position and architecture of this hotel are amazing. The rooms are rather spacious, and the on-site restaurant has a pleasant ambiance and delicious cuisine. Additionally, the staff at Palais Bayram offered a warm hospitality and attentive service.
