Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing but it is certainly a bit more remote than staying in the city so be prepared with transport. We got a driver from Taichung who took us to Sun Moon Lake then this property. It was a very long day and we don’t recommend this tight schedule.
It was a very peaceful stay and Zhong Ming Ju Taoyi Fang. We got to experience local cuisine and fresh produce. We enjoyed chatting to the owners who are very educated and warm, friendly people.

Small scale guesthouse in an absolutely beautiful spot surrounded by nature- yet just a short drive from the main road to Chiayi & Alishan. Breakfast was served on the large communal terrace, with great views of the green valley below and the mountains. At night you hear nothing but cicadas and lots of little tree frogs. There are some walking trails starting right behind the guest house. A very good restaurant with a panorama terrace is just a 3 minute drive away. The owners of the guest house are lovely and welcoming. We got a free upgrade to a larger family apartment - which was clean and comfortable. They even took us along to a tea plantation nearby to sample and buy some top quality tea. Warmly recommended!

SingaporeWe enjoyed an amazing stay at 仲明居Zhong Ming Ju Taoyi Fang! Our hosts were very friendly and gave us a nighttime hiking tour around the homestay area, sharing their expertise about the local plants and animals we encountered and even took photos for us. We were able to hike up to a viewing platform the next morning to view the sunrise as well, which was a convenient and short walk from the homestay. We also enjoyed a delicious and healthy breakfast featuring local Taiwanese produce. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting the Alishan area! Thank you so much!

United StatesMy friend and I stayed here for one night and had an amazing experience! Our room was so comfortable, and the property is located in a beautiful nook of Alishan. The owner recommended an amazing dinner place a 10-minute downhill walk away, and even picked us up from dinner so that we wouldn’t have to walk up the incline. He also cooked us a delicious breakfast, including vegetables from his own garden! Unfortunately, it rained the night we were there, so we weren’t able to do the night walk. My only regret is that we didn’t plan to stay for longer!

ThailandCity slickers beware! This place is a nature lover's dream, but there's no convenience store nearby. Pack your snacks and bring mosquito spray if bugs aren't your thing!
We had a fantastic stay and felt incredibly welcome by the hosts. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, especially regarding the night trails. The highlight of our stay was definitely the exclusive night trail! It was an unforgettable experience to see the fireflies and the breathtaking Alisan landscape at night. The delicious food provided by the hosts was another big plus. They treated us to both tea and snacks during our stay, and everything was homemade and delicious. We also truly appreciate their help with transportation. They booked a taxi back to the city for us and even picked us up from the Longmei bus station upon arrival. This made our trip so much smoother and more enjoyable. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, the food was amazing, and the night trail adventure was truly unforgettable. I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a unique and wonderful stay in Alisan!

CanadaIt's quite remote, with no real shops/convenience stores nearby, but, this is hardly a downside if you long to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This Airbnb is managed with tremendous care, love, and attention. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with wood paneling that offers a cozy and rustic ambiance. The included breakfast is delicious and artistically presented, catering to a wide range of tastes perfect for starting the day. The owner is very considerate, taking my family and me on a guided one-hour night walk to explore the local flora, illuminated by lightning bugs, and observe nocturnal wildlife. Moreover, it's situated in one of the most beautiful natural settings I've almost ever seen! Lush greenery envelops the surroundings, and even on misty days, the valley and mountains are absolutely breathtaking. There is also a restaurant about a 20-minute walk from this Airbnb, which serves absolutley mouth-watering set meals with tables right by a stunning view. I would wholeheartedly recommend this Airbnb to anyone and everyone.

TaiwanMake sure you bring towels/toiletries and get to the area early enough for dinner - the local restaurant is delicious & has a fantastic view, but won’t seat anyone after 6pm. It’s not terribly convenient to walk to the bus stop if you come by public transportation (steep curving narrow roads), but you can ask if the host is available to pick you up/drop you off. (He did for us but I don’t want to make promises with his time!) Strongly recommend this place!!
We had a lovely stay here. Beautiful location with incredible hosts. They really went above and beyond to help us, even preparing baozi for us to take with us since we left early in the morning before breakfast. The view from the patio is lovely, and there is a short (but steep!) hike up to viewing platforms for the sunrise. (PS The host speaks English if your Chinese isn’t strong.)

SingaporeThe host is very hospitable and helpful. We arrived late and missed the public bus to go to the Alishan National Park, he offered to drive us to the nearest scenic site so that we will still be able to see the nice Alishan scenery. In the evening, he took us for a night walk both flora and fauna. We saw lots of fireflies and interesting fruit plants, bamboo and etc. They also cooked very nice and organic breakfast for us in the morning. It was a memorable experience! Highly recommended!

SingaporeWe also knew that towels and disposable toiletries and international power adaptors are not provided as we had read other people's earlier review; hence we were prepared. Many Homestay do not provide towels and toiletries. Another family guest who were staying with us at the same time was totally unprepared for this. The Homestay is not a walkable distance from the bus stop but you can call or arrange with the host and he will pick you up.
We knew that this would be a location in which you explore the surrounding tracks from the Homestay without the crowds. The host would take us for night walks and it was superb. The view was super. And both the breakfast and dinner (which we requested) were excellent. We really enjoyed this place as a destination and not a pit stop. You can even fly your drone here for breath taking views.
