Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere wasn’t much atmosphere, but could have been the time of year.
Fantastic pod style beds that are private and clean. Located right across from the station so very convenient if getting the bus / train.

MalaysiaWe checked in after 10pm. As there was no front desk and hostel didn’t provide any towel as well as travel adapter. We had to make do with whatever we have which can be a little challenging when traveling with a child. Room is also very small. We hardly have space to walk about in family suite. Cleanliness is 4/10

CanadaWhile at first glance the aesthetic and modern look may draw you in, don't be fooled. There are a lot design issues that left me scratching my head. First of all, the downstairs lounge is technically a café, and they will not let you sit on the most uncomfortable seats ever unless you buy something from them. I have never encountered a hostel that won't let you relax in their lounge prior to check-in. Secondly, in my private room, the couch was rock hard, and the bed in the loft area was boiling hot, as the air conditioner doesn't reach up top. There are also plumbing pipes with visible mold running across the walls. The bathroom is poorly designed too, with cramped toilets despite there being ample unused room in the stalls, one of the showers was out of service, and there was BLACK MOLD covering the ceilings. The kitchen and upstairs lounge was again, dreadfully uncomfortable with only hard seating, and the kitchen was barely stocked with necessarities. No sharp knives, cutting board, or really anything else you might need to cook for yourself. They also charge for every little extra thing like towels.
This hostel is conveniently located a few minutes away from the main train station in Chiayi, and some shopping streets including grocery and convenience stores.

TaiwanMy room is located at the same floor as the kitchen and lounge, which makes me easily to hear the sounds from there. Strongly suggested to have earplugs in bed to avoid being awakened in the morning during breakfast time. Or maybe the hostel can consider to always close the door of the kitchen when it’s breakfast time.
Great location, near the train station.

BelgiumThe walls are very thin, so without earplugs it was not possible to sleep (you hear people shower, walk, talk…). Also they told us the breakfast was included but we only discovered a bag of toast and and 3 little pots of Jam… the rooms are small (with all the comfort so that’s nice) and a bit humid if you don’t leave the airco on all the time (which makes a bit of noise)
Good location close to the main train station Cosy hostel

ItalyCan’t store luggage before 9am because there is no staff available at that hour. (pretty pointless since alishan train departs at 9am…) Bathroom and shower are a bit small and in very close to each other. The bed position in the room is awkward. The room is hot so you have to turn the AC on, but the flow will not reach the bed and you will still feel hot, but with the additional noise of the AC
Good position, high security standards, smooth aelwctronic late check in

FranceI couldn't tell why, but I found the atmosphere less warm than in other hostels I have stayed at, perhaps partly because the place is staffed only at certain times. Or maybe I was just unlucky that day (or I was simply tired that day and it's entirely my fault...). I slept on an upper bed. The separations were mere OSB panels that didn't reach the ceiling. As a result, soundproofing and intimacy weren't very good. I happened to sleep next to a loud snorer and even my earplugs were useless. I had the feeling the OSB panels actually amplified the vibrations... I am aware that you can't expect complete intimacy in a youth hostel, but I have slept at places with better soundproofing. It may be better on lower beds (OSB panels reach the upper beds), and also probably in women only dorms (less snorers...).
Great location, a 5-minute walk from the train station and not far from the night market. Very clean and well-equiped bathroom. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Very nice coffee shop on the ground floor. Safe : all doors fitted with keypad locks. Wide beds.

FranceThere is no-one present at the hostel which is a serious pain. For instance I wanted to leave my luggage at 8:45 am and pick it up around 5:30pm, but it is not possible as nobody is there. A guy in the chat ensured me I could leave it at the train in a locker, which turned out to be not possible as... There is no lockers. That's a pity because otherwise the hostel is a very nice place to stay.
