Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Switzerland- The aircon in the room was way too cold, it felt as though it is colder in the room than outdoors - Be wary that if your room is on the 4th or 5th floor you'd have to carry your luggage up the stairs without a lift - This is not a "social" hostel if you're looking for that kinda thing
- The hostel is located a stone's throws away from the mrt which was very convenient. - The toilet and rooms were overall generally pretty clean

United StatesLack of Cleanliness in the common areas…. Floors, couch cushions. No access to make your own coffee, hence having to buy Their coffee or go out. No French press?/ just hot pot. No kitchen just microwave. Common area was not conducive to eating; Low tables, chairs for quantity of guests. You never got that hostel vibe that makes this TYPE of accommodations special. Common area/ eating area was not temperature controlled , no air conditioner until requested (5 Stair flights down) difficult when eating noodle soup. Shower area was TOO small, you had to dress IN the shower Stall ..clothes you were putting on got wet. Luggage storage area was at the bottom of the stairwell …UNSECURED. I had the corner top bunk, so when someone showered the floor above, you heard Loud Gushing water. at your head. This happened evenings and early mornings…very unsettling. Like What!?
The beds, the linens .location. Perfect sense of safety.

United KingdomUnfortunately the worst night’s sleep I’ve ever had in a hostel - our beds were right next to the door and would shake every time someone entered/exited the dorm (i.e every 15-20 minutes from 10pm until 2am, then again from 4am onwards) - the staff offered to move one of us to an alternative dorm for our second night but the hostel was too full to move both of us. We appreciated the offer but ultimately the beds would be better moved away from the door, or those beds should be offered at a discounted rate in the future. The dorm was also incredibly warm - there was one standing fan to cover 12 beds during a heatwave, plus some aircon that only reached some of the beds. The air conditioning in the communal areas can only be controlled by hostel staff but there is no one on duty on Sundays until 11am - this meant that those areas were unbearably hot and effectively unusable until then (temperatures ranged from 30 degrees upwards during the heatwave whilst we were in Taipei); not great if you need to use those rooms to cook/eat/work

CanadaNotably more expensive compared to similar hostel/services in Tainan and Taichung. Missing water fountains in cafe/2F and rooftop/5F. Shared shower and toilets have no aircon which is fine but neither fan or minimal ventilation which makes them hot in summer. No elevator.
Convenient to go reach Yangmingshan national park or nearby Dalong Street Night Market/Shuangcheng Street Night Market (and Songshan airport via bus R50) 12-beds dorm (3F mix, 4F female-only), wifi, bed light, power plugs 1.5/international + 2 usb, hooks x2, curtain, large windows which is nice but road/mrt view and means hotter in summer if aircon off. Free small locker (with key), optional medium locker NT$ 10/day. Aircon (off between checkout and checkin time and cleaning, except for cafe). Shower (x2 per floor), hot water, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, no towel (extra NT$ 50). Western toilets (x2 per floor), toilet paper, no toilet gun. Cafe on 1F and 2F. rooftop with common area, fridge, micro-wave, laundry on 5F (wash NT$ 60, dry NT$ 60)

CanadaShowers trying too hard to look modern that basic necessities like hooks in the showers or a ledge/shelf/hook next to the sink to put your things are forgotten. Common area a bit of a joke, a glass room superimposed on the roof. No kitchen, only a few cups and utensils. More expensive than the hostels but did not seem worth it.
Beds and rooms were quite comfortable. Very close to train station and busses.

Philippinesthe bathroom are dirty, we stayed for 6 days and they only cleaned it 2 times during our stay. the showeroom is clogged and sometimes the toilet is dirty with poop. the ahower are doesn't close all the way and the cold air goes inside making us freeze. it is also not senior or pwd friendly. no elevator for elderly or big baggages. the front desk also did not give us rhe best service. she said there are no available beds in the lowerbunk for us, but only to find out that we were the only one who stayed there for a long time. she should have given us the lower bunk beds since we were the first ones to arrive there. she said it is not possible. either its poor planning or she really don't want to give the best service. she didn't even let us do early check in even if the beds are ready, we would have appreciated even just 1 hr early, she saw how tired we are but no compassion! we will never go back.

MalaysiaI seldom fill up this suggestion space but I thought I would share my experience by pointing out the use of Air conditioning in the hostel especially in the middle of summer. I understand the needs of saving cost from the electricity or going Green but switching off the air con from 11am to 4pm (or sometimes longer if they are not informed you are back to hostel) can be annoying when you needed a rest in the middle of afternoon. Same goes to the air con in the common room. You will need to go all the way down to the reception and ask someone to turn it on and walk all the way up everytime and they only allow you to use the air con up to 3 hours.
Good little hostel equipped with necessary facilities. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hostel located 3 minutes walk away from Yuanshan Station (Red Line). Lots of food places and convenient stores around.

BrazilThe bathroom are really small. 2 showers for floor, you don't have a place to put your necessaries or clothes because inside the box, everything gets wet. They have a nice common room, but it's on the top floor without elevators, 5th floor, so it's not really convenient to go up and down. The top bankers have no ceiling, so there always a little light
The staff and the girl that works in the coffe shop are really friendly. Always greets you with a nice smile. The place is clean, the location is great. Near the MRT and some nikes and bus stops

GermanyThe boxes in the dormitory are made of some kind of wood. That means: your neighbour turns around in his sleep and its „boom“. So something to put in your ears is a must. I was there during CNY. So not a lot of traffic outside. But normally it must be extreme, with the dormitory next to the big road…in terms of noise and in terms of pollution. So really: this place is for young people, who do not care much about this
