Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe shelf in the shower area was tiny, wasn't big enough to place my own toiletries, but not a big deal.
I love how clean the room was. It could be because it is new, the rooms are very nice, clean, and spacious! The location was also fantastic. Shops of Ximending just downstairs, and the train station too. The staff were really nice, efficient, and thoughtful. We asked for 2 extra pillows at night, but was informed that they had only 1 left. The next day, it seemed like they waited for us to get back to our room at night, to call us and offer us the other pillow as our DND was on. I was impressed that they took the initiative to reach out again. Housekeeping staff was also very nice. I really enjoyed my stay there. Hopefully the property will maintain the standards both with staff and rooms.

SingaporeSound proofing can be better. I stayed on level 4 and throughout the 3 nights, we could hear very distinctively the traffic noise and the performance on the pavement next to the hotel. The sound proofing of the room can be better as we could hear when there are people talking as they walk along the alley in front of the hotel room that we were staying.
The location was great and the room size and layout was excellent.

VietnamThe hotel only offers 4 breakfast options so I suggest expanding the a la carte menu or switching to buffet would improve the customer experience.
The hotel is located near Ximending Walking Street and therefore surrounded by international and local stores. Additionally, it's right next to Ximen MRT station and 7/11 convenience store, making it the perfect spot for every traveler. Since the staff and facilities are exceptional, I enjoyed every wonderful moment here, especially my spacious and pristine room with Ximending view. I will definitely stay here for my next trip to Taipei!

SingaporeOur room did not have a tub so we it was difficult to bathe our baby.
Very spacious, great layout of the room, they even have space to put two suitcases up, clean, great location (right outside a train station and Ximending area), checking in and out automated process was seamless, baby cot was given but no extra towels to account for the baby. Would 100% come back to this hotel.

MalaysiaI thought Taiwan would reduce plastic bottled water in hotel, but I cannot find the water dispenser in this hotel, need to boil the water ourselves if we need the hot water.
Our second time to stay in Sotetsu Hotel, everything is perfect as before. Convenient location for food and shopping. We able to get the highest floor, and the view is exceptional.

Extremely good location, just opposite ximending and at Ximending station exit 3. Place was clean and spacious. Rain shower was wonderful. Bed and pillows were firm and supportive enough. There were 3 sockets with built-in adaptors in them. Very nice couch for you to lounge in.

CanadaI personally wasn't a huge fan of the Ximen area as it's fun to visit but too hectic and crowded to stay in, like staying in Time Square feeling. However, it's obviously a very popular area so many people would like it The bed doesn't have the "brand" firm Sotetsu bed, it's softer than the brand has in Japan but I still felt it was decently comfortable and was still able to get a decent sleep. I had requested a certain type of room in advance and communicated with the hotel about it, after I arrived exhausted the hotel told me they had been sold out for a long time ago, which I didn't appreciate since they could have told me ahead of time so I can make other arrangements. However, John went above and beyond to help me get a room that worked for me so it worked out and I was grateful for his kind help. On checkin the hotel tapped my card instead of inserting, which sends fraud alarms for North American cards (but I guess is standard for Taiwan cards), so the bank froze my card and I had to spend time getting the bank to unfreeze my card. In general I think this is a great hotel in Taipei I just wish it was located in a more peaceful area.
Very clean and new hotel in Taipei. Room was spotlessly clean with nice hotel facilities. A few staff seemed a little bit grumpy but in general the staff was very friendly and helpful. In particularly, John was super helpful on my first night to get me settled into a quiet room and smooth over a few arrival difficulties, he really went above and beyond to help during my whole stay and I really felt that he cares about customers having a great stay. As well another staff called Jane was super helpful as well. Several staff spoke great English which was really helpful in Taipei. The staff was really helpful with a late checkout when I was feeling a bit stressed catching a late flight, which was super appreciated! I really liked the lockers for your luggage where you can keep your luggage at checkout safely that work with an electronic card. They also have a luggage scale to weight your luggage.

SingaporeLobby on 2F and abit small when there’s a lot of guests at one time. Toilet seat is not hot, have to get technician to adjust. Breakfast is in another restaurant, prefer the usual spread of hotel breakfast.
Room very clean and new. Location is just next to the mrt and steps away to Ximending. Impressed with the luggage locker concept.

MalaysiaCar drop-offs were a little tricky as there wasn't a designated drop-off point. And the dining was a tad confusing as the restaurant is downstairs of the hotel and we thought it was separate. The lifts got a little crowded at certain times so had to wait as the stairs weren't accessible. None of it major issues/turn-offs.
Convenient location near to Ximending. Ximen MRT exit just downstairs of the hotel. Staff were polite, professional and very helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The room we got was quiet. Happy with our stay.

United StatesGreat hotel - quiet, comfortable and well located next to a Ximen MRT entrance. The staff is excellent, particularly Jane at the front desk, who helped my friend and I when we checked into our rooms, and again when we departed in the morning ten days later. She went far out of her way to help with bags, take us to our Uber on departure, and make sure we (two older ladies) were comfortable. Jane provided by far the best service I've received in a hotel, in more than 50 years of traveling. Bravo to Jane and to the Sosetsu for having such a caring and hard working employee!
